  1. Hey thanks Travis and Rob appreciate it. Rob I will do the same if I get into any I'll give a shout on 68. Friday I will prob run a little north and troll south to the nets so I get a lay of where everything is at and marked on my gps. Prob set up in 60 work out to 90 and do "S'es" back south. The winds (only 6-7kn) are suppose to turn ssw and s , so my guess is the fish may push out a little as the weekend progress, 90 to 120 ish. I'll let them tell me where to be and I'll let ya know! Will b on the water all weekend! (sleeping on the boat) gotta luv it!! I'm in a red/burgandy fourwinns sundowner btw see ya on the water!

  7. Hey guys thanks for the reports. If I may ask a couple questions. I was there for the first time ever out of Augres we did put 7 in the boat all nice eaters same water same colors mentioned. But we are doing something wrong being newbies to the bay (we fish ssalmon primarly westsiders). We couldn't tell when fish where hitting on the boards and who knows how long we drug them around for. I could see other guys jumpimg for rods so I know they are seeing something how do you hook up your boards. We couldnt tell so we just checked them from time to time and picked up what we got but a 3hr drive over is rough for a couple of clueless guys if you could offer some lessons/resources would be greatly appreciated. I must also say that I was absolutely blown away by the town of Augres and the nice people there where where shocked at how nice they where guy at the gas station text the marina owner to see if he was coming in so we could buy a battery offered us the one in the back of his truck offered to have his wife bring a charger to us, Guy at the marina that was open helped us find the blown fuse in the motor that got us back on the water to the lady at the motel who had no rooms but once she found out we where going to sleep in the van gave us blankets just truely kind nice people it was a shock honestly because its been so long since I've been treated that nicely by strangers. My buddy said it best wow hunans treating humans humanly. I just can't say enough about how wonderful a town Augres is. Now if we could just figure out how to read that bite off the boards we would be in! Thanks in advace to any who reply!
  8. Ya just gotta luv people who think they own everything water, fish, ect. I think we should all get together bring like 16 boats in with 64 of our best buddies and we'll create a line at the fish cleaning station, we can exchange money back and forth thanking each other for a great trip. The poor old guy would own a small patch of dirt after that!
  9. Best salmon was 42#'s in the PM river back in I think 84ish it was the yr the paper mill dam blew out on the rouge river. it had the red down the side as well and I thought the same thing as Ryan "looks" like it belongs in Alaska! caught a couple 30+ out of the Muskeon river over he years, Biggest on the lake was last yr out of Muskegon caught 2 just over 30# well my second oldest son caught one of them, my other two sons both caught personal best oldest boy got one 28# and my youngest son caught one 26.5 my daughter got one 24#'s so all kids got their personal best in one trip! On that trip we landed 28 fish and if I remember correctly 18 weighed 20#'s or better it was bad @$$ to say the least. Truely last yr was " the year of the big kings"! Most all those fish came on flies with either spin doctors or fish catcher paddles white glow/chartrues / green and plaid. Biggest steelhead 19#'s in the muskegon river and out of lake michigan 15# biggest brown was 16#'s out of the grand at 6th dam Nov 14th went out the morning before leaving for deer hunting Lake mich Brown 12#'s Laker 23# out of lake mich My biggest fish came from ocean caught a 102 # sail fish off key west when I was 13 like in 78-79 and caught a 246# Bull shark from shore in pensicola beach Fl in 2006. That was fun you kayak your bait 1/4 mile out over the sand bar in the dark then sit back on the beach all night sipping cocktails waiting for something to happen. We caught several bulls and 3 hammer heads that trip the guys down the beach from us pulled a hammer head that was 14 ft it was amazing! I go there every other yr just about great place great fishing! Most of the weights listed are either from a digi scale or official cert weights. Good luck to ya this yr there are still some 20 plusers out there! Cheers
  10. Welcome aboard! Are you familiar with Posiedon flies, If not you should they make a great product, Bill is a great guy with good info (luvs to talk fish) and I use their flies with great success! They are located on your side of the pond!I have no affiliation with them other than a believer in their product. Good Luck!

  12. Welcome aboard! I fish mostly out of Muskegon under the name fresh water warrior. Will be out the whole first wk of Aug last part of July, otherwise most every other weekend. If I can help in any way just give a shout. This is a great site and the info is top notch! Good Luck!!
  13. Eric, I think it's fantastic that you expose the kids to the great lakes fishing! For many this wil be a once in a life time event. When I was young (like 5 or 6) I remember watching the boats go in and out the channel in Holland with my mom, and she said to me " I wounder what all those people do for a living to afford boats and go out on the lake fishing? Must be nice!" I never forgot that! When I got my boat about 30yrs later, and took my mom and dad on it for the first time out of Holland. She had long forgotten that day watching the boats. So when we where in the channel I turned to her and said " hey mom do you think those people on shore are wondering what we do to be able to have a boat going fishing on Lake Michigan?". She laughed! She didn't remember that exact time that I did but admitted she had wondered that many times, and reminded me of course how truely blessed we where to be! Taking those kids out, one day may just be the same when they grow up and they say "hey you remember when" truely priceless! Just fantastic of you to give them that and education to boot! Thanks!! and Thanks for sharing! Ps. no grading my spelling or grammar!
  14. Thanks for the report and pic! Really appreciate it! I find a lot of times mid morning, midday, mid afternoon when all else seems to be dead, that frog type grn white black dots in flasher or spin doctor really turns them on! The other one that really works through those time is the disco/plaid july aug sometimes I can't hardly get that sucker in fast enough. Last yr mid August out of pentwater, we had a day around noon where we couldn't get another rod in the water we fished one rod for nearly an hr pulling fish after fish if I remember correctly we went 6-8 just in that hour with only one rod as fast as we could pull them in and put it back! that was a green frog type fly (ones with rubber and tinsel). Good luck keep knocken em!!!!
  15. On dipsy the number is 1,2,3 setting runs the diver closer or further to the side. I run two a side and two right off the back plus four down riggers two off side and two off back with no problems rarely ever a tangle! This is what works for me so others may have better ways that work for them. use the same size divers I set my rod closest to the bow on 3 then my second rod closet to the back at 1.5 I can run them at the same depth and never tangle but if I want one deeper I will let more line out on the 1.5 set diver leaving the 3 set diver to run higher always deeper closer to the boat! That way outside fish can cross over top just like with planner boards! On the back of the boat I set both divers at .5 or 1 obviously one left and one to the right just to get a little seperation I usually only run bechold fish catchers on the back (have had sd tangle but never fish catchers) and spindoctors on the sides. The dipsys come with a chart as a guideline as to how much line out to achieve depth with and without oring. Oh almost forgot I run the outside divers with the oring and the back of the boat divers with out oring. I set all my divers first then my downriggers (Only time this is different is if Im running boards off the sideI usually set them first) and lastly my full core lead right down the center. Now some times depending on currents and my boys sloppy driving (lol) the lead can tangle with a diver but seriously I think it happend maybe twice out of 30-40 trips last year. Again this is just how I run I'm sure many others do things differently possibly better but this works for me! Consault the chart provided with dipsey for depth or I'm sure it's on line and can be printed off. Remember its a guide only! I usually talk to guys and read here what guys are setting them at catching fish and follow suit if I'm not getting hit then I experiment. I cant tell you how many times I come on here and read the post and set my dipsey's to exactly what guys are posting-- slam fish and never change them. That's what makes this site so awesome the info is accurate and honest and everyone is willing to help a fellow fishermen so if I dont see a post I simply ask, never been let down yet!!! Good Luck!
  16. Nice job! Man I wish I could get to the east side and get in on that congrad! Thanks for the report!
  17. I run spindoctors and bechold picked up some prochips to give a try this year. I run the bigger ones deeper (below 60ft) colors best last year where white paddle green tape, chart tape and double crush glow white, the glow frog as well as the disco/plaid worked real well in august last yr mid day, flies vary ussually a green blue mix, or white crinkle with glow beads and frog type flies where hot last july and aug as well! I run flies pretty much always 22 to 24 inches behind. I run spoons off them as well from time to time with good success with a 36 inch to 42" leader seems to work!
  18. I agree with Iron and others the info shared here is some of the best and usually done with class! Never have I found "fake info " I use it regularly on the water and very rarely is the info wrong when wrong ussually due to change in conditions. When I ask for help here I get good solid advise and I for one amy very thankful! I believe a politer approach would work! Most times when some one doesnt give all info some one will ask "hey do you mind sharing blah blah blah. So I guess from my point of view if you want to bitch go some where else and do that! If you want to be a part of a class act site conduct yourself accordingly! I for one use the info, am thankful for the info, and this site! I also left other sites because of the bragging and bickering. I for one say thankyou to the pro staff and charter captains!Seriously THANK YOU! I am humbled by your willingness to share! My family reap's the benifits of catching fish:thumb: the few time we are able to get out from your info! Thank you !!!!
  19. Welcome! Best site best guys with the best real information willing to help!!! Enjoy
