If its in question a guy can always put a 100watt light bulb in the eng compartment (away from any thing it can damage ) metal surface only !
And cover the vents with masking take
a once of prevention is worth a pound of cure
the heat from the bulb can easily same the day in a pinch
WE would much rather see a guy pull a eng because its wore our rather than froze up !
-
might be too late for some guys and some components
this is a picture from 9-23- 630 am calumet city illinois quiet clear night no wind not far from a relitively warm lake michigan 3' from the thermometer was a quart jar of water that was froze and broke
this was probably not cold enought long enough to break a block or a exhaust manifold but was posibly cold enough to bust a wash down pump or a live well pump possibly a power steering cooler
I hate winter !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no honda's do not need anti freeze ran thru motors
simply let streight up and down for a couple minuts after pulling them out and they drain them selfs
(make sure the over board water indicator (pisser) is oper this is a inportant part of the draining process)
to winterize drain all lubes refill with clean oils and drain fuel system fog cylinder thru spark plug holes in a salt enviorment or long periods of storage
but please remember this there is or probably will never be one way to do all motors always refer to the manufacturers service manual for the proper way to prepare your motor for periods of non use that would include freezing temperatures
if you need answers to specific questions please dont hesitate sending us a email or posting your questions here or on the calumet marine forums page
i answer questions as time permitts

it is time to winterize
we could easily get freezing temps cold enough to break a engine block
live wells and wash down pumps need winterizing as well
dont get caught with a big repair bill this spring winterize NOW

Thanks Paullywood
This is a realy tough business rite now
we are struggling to deliver quality products and services in a time when a lot of guys have to sacrifice some quality/service to stay in the game
can not find fault in any one that has these tough decisions to make
So far as a business this is one thing we have not have yet have had to do
Hope it never comes to that. We do our best to deliver these quality products at a bargain price
For all of us i hope the dang economy inproves sooner rather than later
we certainly appreciate every little bit of business we get these days.
these recent sales will help us stay in the game for a bit longer

Only ONE production Slot left FAIR WARNING
We have been lucky enough to sell a couple boats this fall and have only ONE slot left for this fall shipping from Hewes craft
This means if some one wants a boat next season before the 4th of july with rigging work there is only one spot left
boats ordered for the march shipment will not be deliverable until late july by the time we can get them rigged when mixed in with the normal spring rush
again thank you every one for their business
When just a Hewes craft is a great boat
a Calumet Marine rigged hewes Craft is the ultimate fishing machine for the great lakes and beyond .

I have put rod holders on the side of hard tops about every way that is posible
these are adjuatable any angle you want for the birds or even a dipsey but whe you put them at this angle they are nice for rod storage when folded in flat against the hard top they give the reels plenty of seperation
waiting for the riggers and the coolers thats about it hope to kill some fish with it yet this year
after all its a demo boat LOL
-
ok so we are pushing it a bit past the 40k mark
but check this out
getting the little hard top rigged and ready
-
still time befor the snow flys

well as most guys know the fishing has been great this year not just in one area but about every where especialy if you are lucky enought to get a little farther off shore into the deeper waters
This has in part caused us to go thru about twice as much herring as we have ordered in years past
we usally have more than enough to last the winter untill june or july of next summer when it can again be harvested from the gulf
it dont look like this will be the case early spring next year looks like we may be a little short of this option
check our online store for inventory levels before ordering
if it says sold out it will probably mean no more untill next july

Boating and fishing for my family was a total family affair
the kids went back to school it was time to start thinking of putting them
inboards and IOs away the kids with school foot ball and all the other fall sports did not have much time for the boat any way
it was good to beat the winterizing rush
with the outboards we run today we get some of the best perch fishing of the year thanksgiving week end and usally put the boat up soon after that and fist ice out we are back chasing coho on the south end of the lake with ice still floating around

LOL
dont mean to talk any one out of a sale
these are better boats than we are accustomed to seeing and although better than others for open water the proV bottom is a compromise of two models a sportsman and a sea runner
The reference to river fishing was because of the close proximity of the berrien springs shamrock park ramp
open water fishing first and fore most is about safely returning to safe harbor when the weather changes on us when already out there
safe, affordable, roomy, rugged, functional ,
thanks for stopping by our booth at the fair sure was nice meeting all the Michigan guys that took the time to stop by and introduce them self's
winter upgrades/projects post them HERE
