  1. stop eyefull you are making me hungry!!

dam good catch you have there!!

uv works great ! top 50 for me

but some thing i just discovered about two years ago

soak charging glow stuff with the new high intensity LED lights brings a new dimension to the glow game

TRY IT the new LED LIGHTS ARE THE NUTS and the prices have come way down from where they where 3 years ago

  2. i use the thick strips because it is fast easy and not as messy as whole

whole "A" side/ i call it/ is better A= the side with the tail on it

but the salt packed strips thick strips are just too dam easy and almost as good

take it out of the tub

pin it with a tooth pick put a couple drops of herring oil on it and send it out

here is a couple pics of the thick strips next to the regular variety the thicker strips give the bait heads a better role and last longer in the bait heads

Note these are not balley hoo strips have yet to firgure out how to make them work any where near as good as these

  3. We have a lot of choices to make in our lives

And more when it come to boats and boat purchases it has turned into a SHELL game

I don't like shell games I am not good at it but I want to thank my customers for being good at it !

"FINDING THE HIDDEN CHARGES WHEN COME TO BOAT PURCHASES"

My dad used to tell me "be painfully honest except when being honest will hurt some one for no good reason" "Always Do work you are proud of never settle for good enough and never lie for any one"

This has had to compensate my lack of skill at the shell game

I have often wondered why more people dont buy boats from Us could not figure this out.

So i decided to ask some of our customers that have bought boats from us and WOW never thought of the what i would get

I have recently discovered why a lot of smart people buy boats from Calumet Marine. I did not figure this out for myself I had a customer explain it to me this way at a boat show over the week end like this .

He said to me "some people understand how the shell game works"

I said " what? i hate the shell game i am not good at it"

he says "yes but i understand it and i used to be a big chevy dealer "

    He says

You guys do more out of a little 4000 sq foot building than the next boat dealer does out of a place ten times as big with a whole lot less people

you put a total price up front and stick to it and you dont run and hide when a guys comes back to fix some thing

Your service area is over half the size of your total operation

and he mentioned a certain Michigan big box sports store that had 200 boats in stock and a service area you could get no more than 4 boats into

You have a terrible clutter problem that the bigger store would fix but then the over head would kill your price

He says to me even if you move out of the high rent district to avoid those high taxes

PLEASE dot change the way you do business

    We don't plan on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't mind paying my fair share of taxes

some one has got to pay their fair share of the money it takes to have

good schools police and fire departments

Illinois is just spending too much money keeping roofs over our governors heads !!

    ALL JOKING ASIDE

THANK YOU TO MY LOYAL CUSTOMERS FOR HELPING ME FIGURE THIS ONE OUT !!!

Big and small I try to learn from them all !!

Thanks every one for the help you just never know when who what or where you will lean your next lesson from

thanks to all the members of this site that stoped by the Hammond indiana out door show to say Hi

  4. yes Michigan city to grand haven

Michigan city to Milwaukee the other side

usually don't get it out till the first of July seems any early than that it gets mixed results after the 4th don't leave port with out it

been doing this for almost ten years now it seems to take my bigger fish on our boat

there is a definite learning curve involved

fresh cut A side fillets are the best but we usually run the salt packed strips only because we are lazy and they work almost as good

have not had any luck with the new bally hoo strips

  5. riggers have all gone thru a lot of evolution the last decade or two

the new cannon stx desighn is slick lot of the problems eliminated mag tens usally sell for around 519 brand new for a lifetime rigger is a good price

the old big johns are nice easy to find parts and new motors when you need them

The new vectors look to me to be the new top of the line for us in the great lakes not the most expesive either but still 950 is a tuff nut to crack

The unitrols are the best manuals i would say for a manual rigger

good luck the first thing i thought of when i first seen this post

" I hope it dont turn out the same way it did for me when i tryed to bering a old electric back from the dead i my case i would have been money ahead throwing it away i spent more time and money fixing would have been a lot cheaper faster and less agrivation to buy a new one "

  6. One thing i have found its tough to find this stuff on display

Who want to pay good money for some thing you have to look at in a plastic bag if you can even find this

This the reason i am trying to get the Eau Claire michigan location up and running

I have our demo boat World Cat there not just to try to sell the boat it is in this nice heated indoor show room so you michigan guys can stop by and check out the rod holder track systems and the properly networked electronics

I am trying to put some dates together to have a few out door seminars

    meat rig fishing / eletronics / rigging/

The new location has the room its a hour or more over the line into michigan and i have not been able to to do these kind of things in the Chicago/calumet city location

just no parking or room inside for the larger groups these seminars attract

got any ideas of what you guys would spens a day comming to check out let us know

  7. Am I right? Looks like the rod holders swivel 360* and go back and forth 180*, just like my fishlanders?

story best as i can explain on the vector rod holders

    traxs tech bought out vector

did not change much on the rod holders brought back the production to michigan some of the older ones where made in china

For those of you that have not used the old Vector rod holders

this is a brief feature and function explanation

they rotate 360 deg making and adjustments easy and almost limitless

they use a clutch dog and spring in the base to accomplish this

    vectortraxstecrodholders006.jpg

    vectortraxstecrodholders007.jpg

whats really nice about this is you can let the angle of the rod holder free wheel with a stop at parallel with the water or a slight angle up in the rotated 180 position

This allows you to grab a dipsey with a fish on pull the rod vertical and lift the rod straight up out of the holder with out trying to pull it out of the rod holder leaning over the side of the boat with a 20lb king hammering on the bait

last shot is a pic of the angle lock set in free wheel

    vectortraxstecrodholders008.jpg

    vectortraxstecrodholders009.jpg

    vectortraxstecrodholders011.jpg

now you can also lock the angle of the rod holder in place with the same pin that allows it to free wheel but to release it you don't have to grab for the pin just grab the tube slide it side ways and the double locking pins release the angle lock

    vectortraxstecrodholders013.jpg

These are all metal no plastic versatile functional

    and made in the USA

    rite here in Michigan

  8. simple up and down sw and some manual hand crank are being made

The electric with out the key pad is coming

    but who knows when

a simple up and down sw

but after you try these i am not sure you will want this big motor with out the key pad its the only good reliable way you can get the soft stop and start is to have this fancy computer board they rest of the features are just a matter of programing they do at the factory

there will not be a huge advantage in price to eliminate just the key pad

after you see one of these in action with a minimal price advantage i don't think there will be much demand for the simple sw set up

  9. To answer a few questions i have been getting on the PMs

same base the big john uses

    for the 950

i believe it comes with a swivel base for the traxs tech track system and the marine co heavy duty plug trolling motor plug kit (both ends )

Jeff at traxs tech bought out Vector riggers when they went under two or three years ago now he has been working on all these improvements all this time

no doubt you never really know how good a product is till you use it for a while and time answers all these questions especially the one main one

    "What riggers is the best"

Yes these are expensive but they are loaded with common sense usable features

Not a bunch of fancy stuff you don't really need or will use

big heavy duty motor nicely sealed rated for up to 25lb cannon ball

    super fast motor

    with soft start and stop

bigger spool and HD spool clutch

military grade lighted key pad and display also nicely sealed

    auto stop easily adjustable

creep buttons for small depth adjustments

    auto down and up buttons

    down depth memory

    4' jog feature

all this in a easy to understand and use package

i cant wait to put my pair to the test

i have already pre sold some of them so at least for a while they will be in short supply

i hope to have a demo set up that guys can play with at the Hammond show later this month

  10. Jwheeler

i will try to find the time to take some pictures of the rod holders them selfs today

and post them with a explanation of the reatures and function this will save me a bunch of typing

thats a good question though i apologize i have used these rod holders a long time and just figured everone else had used them before

  11. traxs tech bought out the vector co.

They are using the same heavy duty motors

and the basic desighn with a bunch of upgrades the the components

    especially the fit /machining

There is a high tech circuit board and key pannel

auto stop / electronic counter / 4' jog feature / auto back to the set down depth/

soft start and stop / super fast / same rod holders as the old vectors just better fitting parts

super easy to use and understand

i cant wait to try these out

for now they are going to be $ 950.00

and they are already on back order they are selling them faster than they can make them
