  1. Always love your reports! Nice job on the fish....good looking crew too
  2. We ventured out to 250fow and witnessed fish boiling on the surface, probably steelies and cohos, we were to able to trigger a bite. Thought for sure our 2 color with bumble bee would take a rip
  3. Plenty of guys from here fish that area, lot of good people here. Thanks for your introduction
  4. Chris, We didn't venture far from where we were picking up fish. South troll seemed to produce more bites. As soon as we would get "get out of the fish" I insisted to turn right around and go back through them, it seemed to work. At about 930ish, the bite slowly died, but that's when our meat on the dipsy started taking fish. Good day to be on the water, and the action was just what I was looking for.
  5. Indeed. I don't have much time, and I don't have the opportunity to fish with my brother in law often, we used to fish together frequently. It sure was nice getting back on board with a crew that works well together. After fishing we were coming through the channel in Onekama, and on the Portage Lake side of the channel, on the north side of the channel was a nice sand bar. We cleaned fish, ate lunch and loaded up us four adults and the 6 kids and headed to the sandbar for some fun in the water. We were all by ourselves, Sunday we went back to the sand bar, and there was a handful of other boats like us taking advantage of the great weather
  6. Family trip to my sister's place in Onekama for the extended weekend. Made sure we had one trip planned for salmon on the big lake. Saturday was the morning. Slight north wind, greeted by 1-3' seas from the north. Went straight out to 100' of water and deployed the spread. It didn't take long and we were taking hits. Big white paddle/river side fly parked at 92' down on the rigger was the stand out of the morning taking multiple hits. We worked 120-150fow doing tight loops near the waypoints we marked as we were taking hits. Had 2 doubles and almost a triple. As the morning bite tapered off the wire mag diver back 185 with a meat rig started taking hits, as BillP mentioned, multiple fish came unbuttoned on the divers. Ended the morning about 1145 with 7 fish in the box and losing another 7 fish. Big king was 22#, and the coho were beautiful. All fish had good amounts of bait in their bellies.
  7. I'll be up in the area fishing this weekend, if you're out give me a yell on the radio.....nice job on da eyes!
  8. Nice job Ed! Love that area.....
  9. The biggest factor working against you is lack of time on the water. This is a great thread with good information that should help cut the learning curve. Experience is the best teacher, if you have an opportunity to get out with another fisher, DO IT. Over time you will gain knowledge through your experiences. It's like anything else, it just can't happen quick enough. Don't get frustrated, keep your eye on the prize and remember that you're out there to have fun. Good luck.
  10. Agreed, and I have not been able to locate any wigglers either this summer. When I was buying minnows Saturday, there was a cooler next to minnow tanks labeled wigglers....low n behold....EMPTY
  11. That's some fast PERCH action! That is the kind of action I am looking to put my 2,4 and 6 year old on, anything short of non stop action and they become bored quickly....
  12. Nice job on the eyes Frank! I made sure to slow down to give ya a wave as we were on our way out! What a beautiful day on the water with the family. The kids really had a blast out there. We were able to luck out with a handful of perch, the action wasn't hot enough to keep the kids entertained for a long period of time. So we improvised, did some jumping off the boat and a little swimming out there. Water was beautiful, there was cooler water at my toes when we were in the water. Hoping the perch fishing takes off, cuz I'm ready to get after em! Til next time.
  13. Frank, I have thought along the same lines as well over the past few years. I concluded that temps and such have little impact in comparison to the time of year, and the factors that change, as you mention daylight to dark. Some kind of "internal" clock or something triggers fish to do what they do. Now I'm not saying temps have ZERO impact, but I do think there is not as much impact due to temps as I previously believed.
  14. Keep moving until you find them, and once you're on them stay on them. I wonder if wigglers would be worth a darn during the summer months? I know they are GOOD during the winter months.
  15. Keep after em Frank! I maybe up with the family one day this weekend....may take a stab at some perchin.......
  16. Nice job. Seems the ports in the Mid Region of lake Michigan are experiencing better numbers on average! Keep on it
  17. You sure have one helluva fishery over there! Good numbers and fantastic size! Keep up the good work!
