  1. Rick, beleive it or not last year I was at Dunmans sports store and bought a hub style hunting blind and tried it on the Bay, its Ok if its calm but if it windy you better have your running shoe's on, as for anchors you would be wise to have a cordless drill, I just tied mine off to the snowmobile, I bought it to try it with hard water fishing but I'll stay with my CLAM, I used the Hub for a hunting.
  2. Ryan< I got the sample fly looks good, I'll be calling you to get some of them. Thanks Grant.
  3. Adam, Whats the scoop on the eye's out of linwood lately? Been kinda quit over there for reports and I know there is Ice . And have Happy HO HO and a Merry new year Oh Ya. I just told the wife today that I bought a new Clam Ice fishing two man shanty so she could go with me after she asked me what I was doing out in the shed, She took that pretty well and then old me she bought a new sewing machine, and she wasn't going on the hard water, and she didn't care if it floats,. She said that making a blanket to warm up with when I got home was what she was doing, She is always on it, boy I'am lucky to have her:thumb:

BE CARFULL! with todays temp's. and the south to s.w. wind may not be to good, I think I'am going to wait till next weekend should be a lot better.

  10. Ryan I may check it out also, If I go it will be the east side of the bay like Thomas Rd. or Sebiawing
  11. Congrates to ya Matt, I think that Capt. Craig is an all right guy, I have called him a couple times when I was going to fish Manistee and he always would be honest about where and what the fish was on to me, GOOD LUCK, Matt.
  12. I think ask away Phil, I saved this site in my favorites as GOLDEN GATES to fishen, it's like Heaven here, these guy's are Good PEOPLE.
  13. I ran a thumper rod if you will last year straight down the shute when I was over to Pentwater in 60'-120' f.o.w and it was a very busy rod all morning, I would run out 75' of 20lb mono and clip on 1lb ball with the or8 off shore w/the pin, then zero the counter and send it down 75' w/ a green spatter j-plug, I just set the drag tight enough to hold, this year fish was deeper and it was not as prductive, maybe a couple of fish.
  14. I have run wire on my Low dippsey rods for 5yr's and I love-it, Ialso run it on the 30 series Okumas w/ 10-1/2 Okuma rods, and run the Blood Run on my high divers 8-1/2 Diawa, for one year it seems to be a nice combo set-up I think!
  15. It was Ok but I mist a lot spring fishin, but did P.S. once shame on me mostly H.B. and Grindstone, did good on EYES and Lake Trout, NO Browns or Kings a couple limits on Coho, and one Trip to Lake Michigan, hope to hit the water more in 2011 and more tournments, the one for 2010 was the Pro-King got nice Trout to finsh 2nd that was fun.
  16. Come up to Michigan Mark; I can hook ya with a laker trough the Ice on 6#, alot fun and even get 5 walley for dinner if you don't keep a laker. On the bay
  17. Yep, won't be long Robert; with the Saganaw bay waters @ 35 degrees, as long as we don't get a lot of wind and snow before we get hard water or it will be rough like last year.
  18. Thanks for the report, Ron I don't where LBM is, but it must be on the west side of the bay! I fish the east of the bay Thomas Rd. out to the plug in the slots and the bars. Keep'em coming.
  19. Works for Me I think, I can't go 2 hr's any other direction without getting lost Mike, lol
  20. Congat's, Steve; I was just thinking that no was talking about their buck thay shot an there you was, Good job. Also I got a 10pt monday as well.
  21. WOW you opened a can worms here, I've been fishing lake Huron since 1985 and seen the GOOD, BAD, and the UGLY, and I don't think the salmon went to Lake Michigan they just ran out of food, they was brought here to control the elwive and they did their job, but with the other problem's that are in Lake Huron, they will have to adapt to the forage base that is in Question at this time, the lake Trout are adapting to it by eating gobbies and their young and what they can find, I think it's a cycle that we must live with, and the MDNR will try to take credit for the salmon will reproduce here and did before, I think that some fish have = walley, steel head, and brown's, we also need the good rivers for the salmon to spawn in, with the lower water levels some of the river's won't support that like they used to, I think that we just got to be willing to take the ride and wait it will come, also I joined the Michigan steel headers about 10 yr's ago becuase I beleive that its group of fisherman (like here with the GLF) that will make a differance in the long run sorry My 2 cents worth. Note I hope this was OK Mike I didn't want to vent like this here SORRY
