  1. Wow! That is an exciting night. Good job. I'm going to have to check this "Area 51" out. I sooo wanted to be out last weekend, but helped relatives build a pond. I am definetly going out sometime during the week and probably saturday morning. I hope I have luck like you.
  2. Wow! Nice job Terry and Roger. Those kings look beautiful.
  3. Nice job Jim! I guess I know what I'm doing this weekend. And this is a stupid question...but I always hear people talking about "shaker salmon". What is that?
  4. Nice job Mike. That sounds like a great morning. I'm thinkin we should have went out a little deeper yesterday.
  5. Great job guys, that is a nice looking steelhead. I have not been able to catch one yet this year.
  6. The first two hours of daylight was a little rough with a few 4 footers and some heavy rain but it cleared up to be a nice day.
  7. Nice job Jeff, looks like we will be trying muskegon in the near future instead of driving so far south.
  8. Well, we barely kicked the skunk out of the boat this morning in the monsoon rain storm. We went 1 for 2 with a 9# king in 35 fow. High line with a red and gold thin fin 175ft back. Fished from 20 to 60 fow. Pulled lines at noon and headed for home.
  9. Nice job Nick! I wish I would have known it was going to be nice out there Saturday morning.
  10. Nice job, sounds like an exciting trip. I wish I could have been out there.
  11. yes, what you are looking at is our redneck salmon fishing setup. Our plastic rod holders and down riggers with no cranks. The plastic rod holders worked all last year but made Mark nervous using divers on them because they pulled so hard. So, you think that's a bad idea?
  12. I can't either. But we like eating the smaller ones, and we do keep some bigger ones. We thought we would let the 17# king spawn this year. After we released the king, we kept asking ourselves "why did we do that?"
  13. Nice job. Glad to hear they are starting to catch kings in Muskegon.
  14. Called in sick this morning because I heard the weather for the weekend was not going to be good and decided to go fishing instead. We set the lines just past the pierheads at 60 fow and trolled south. No fish marked and started to head east and as soon as we hit 35 fow, we landed a fat 9# laker on a rigger 12 ft down, 35 back with a ss kevorkian. Headed south at that depth and landed a 17# king on a double orange crush 3 color. At first, we thought it was a steelhead because it jumped out of the water and started ripping out line...but nope, it was just a king. We released both fish. We kept trolling at that depth and no hits. We noticed a lot of boats deeper, so we thought they must be catching something because they were out there all morning. We pulled lines and went deeper to 85 fow. We trolled a few hours, marked a few fish, but no hits. We then decided to call it a day. Should have stayed shallow.
  15. That's too bad. Ralph tried to get on our boat sunday, but we kicked him off.
  16. Nice job Mike. Good luck tomorrow and let us know what you catch. I won't be out on the water until next weekend, so I'll have to dream as I read everybody's reports.
  17. That's too bad. I know I have been itching to go to Muskegon. Next time you go out, and catch something, please post so I know when it's time to go.
  18. Wow! Nice lake trout. Nice job. The water looks very calm that afternoon. I think it's great when people involve their kids in things like fishing. I am taking my oldest daughter, who's 11, salmon fishing for the first time in a few weeks. Hopefully, we can take her to Muskegon.
  19. Hello Steve. Welcome to the site. I am new to fishing in the big lake also. My husband and I used to fish Muskegon River for trout, steelhead, and walleye, but two years ago, we thought we would try the big lake, and now I'm addicted. I am more obsessed with it than he is. Once you get the hang of it, you'll love it. The guys on this site are very nice and helpful. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
  20. Hello Jari. Welcome to the site. I look forward to the pictures from Finland. How long are you able to fish in the open water?
