  1. Good job Rick. A few fish is better than none. It seems the NOAA is not very good at predicting the waves. I have been out there a few times and the waves are nothing what they said it should be.
  2. Started setting lines in 70 fow. We got two lines out and a 10 core with a one oz. snap weight that took off with a 18 lb king, which took Mark almost 25 minutes to reel in. That pole had a small green and white flasher, with the pickled sunshine fly. Not long after that, the downrigger, set at 60 ft., with the mountain dew flasher and citron fly went off and made a short run and snapped the line because someone (Mark), forgot to set the drag. So, there is a fish out there with my flasher and fly. Fished for a few more hours and nothing. Decided to pull the lines and found both of my lucky dipsys had been dragging 2/3lb lakers for I'm not sure how long. Ended up 3 for 4. And to top off the night, we were headed home and we blew out a leaf spring on the boat trailer on the railroad tracks leaving north Muskegon. Mark mcguyvered it so we could limp it home We'll be out there again Sunday AM.
  3. Nice job Jake! Glad to hear you did good out of Muskegon.
  4. Good job Terry! It must have been crazy and exciting towards the end!
  5. I'm not sure how far you want to drive, but I know Holland and Muskegon are doing pretty good. In Muskegon, 80-110 fow have been working pretty good. Last night, we were marking a lot of fish 55-75 down. Also, green and blue flies had a lot of action. Hope that helps.
  6. Nice job Jim. This is a silly question, but what is a prototype JP slammer?
  7. Well, I finally got out there for some salmon fishing. It's been a very busy summer with family and kids, so I haven't been out there as I much as I would have liked. It was a beautiful night to be out. We started fishing around 7:30 and set our lines at about 90 fow. As soon as we hit the 100fow mark, we had a hit, and he was a fighter. After fighting with him a bit, I pulled in a 12.5lb king. We kept going NW, out to 130 fow, with no luck, so we turned around, as we hit the 100 fow, another hit. This one was a 10 lb king. As soon as we got that fish in the net, the copper went screaming, and didn't seem to stop. It was my turn to land this guy, and let me tell you, I was struggling. I thought I had him, but as soon as he got close to the boat, I lost him. I was pretty upset because I would have liked to see how big he was. Oh, well. Maybe 15 minutes later, we got another one, this was a 6lb king. Our downriggers had a couple of hits, but no fish. We called it a night around 9:30/10:00, with 3 for 5. We marked a ton of fish in 95-105 fow, 55-75 ft down. This is what worked for us: all three fish were caught on the dipsys, 175-225 ft back. 1 fish on the blue bubble fly with a white flasher, and 2 fish on pickled sunshine fly with the mountain dew SD. We lost 2 fish on the 300' copper that had the mirage fly, with a green SD flasher. Flies were definetly the key last night. A friend of a friend, of mine(if that makes sense) went out last night and got 25 kings out muskegon. I thought we did pretty good for two people for just a few hours, but I guess we just suck. 3 compared to 25???!!! Anyways, Muskegon is getting hot, and I will definetly be out a few more times this weekend.
  8. Good job Jim. What colors were your flies? I will be going out to Muskegon tomorrow morning with 2 kids in tow. Hopefully we'll have some luck. Were you straight out from the piers?
  9. I would love to go, but that weekend is me and my daughter's birthday(two days apart). When is the next one?
  10. Nice job Mark. I haven't been salmon fishing since early May, so I know I forgot how to fish. What size spoons were you using? Stingray size? When do you start to use the magnums?
  11. Good job guys. Did you go straight out from the piers or south? I'm trying to talk my husband into going tomorrow night. I haven't been salmon fishing in a month...and I really need to get out. Hopefully I can talk him into going to S.H instead of Muskegon.
  12. Good job Scott. So, you are still using thinfins? I am new to this and it surprised me to read that.
  13. Wow! Good job Jim. This is kind of a stupid question, but is the fishing better north this time of the year? Is Muskegon not a good place to fish out of? If I were to go fishing this weekend, where should we go? Any reponse from anybody would be great. I haven't been on the water for almost a month (family and kids stuff), and I really NEED to get out there. Thanks.
  14. Nice job Chris. That's pretty funny about the 30 lb. I'm sure he felt pretty silly. I haven't been on the water for almost a month- too busy with kids and family things. I'm thinking I should try Ludington or Manistee soon.
  15. Good job Todd. We went out to Muskegon last night and marked a lot of fish also, but we didn't have much action.
  16. WOW! Nice job Mike. Someday, I'd like to make a post like that.
  17. Nice job Andrew. I'm hoping to go to Muskegon tonight...that's if my other partner in crime gets out of work at a decent time. What size spoons were you using?
  18. I think that is wonderful and generous. I'm sure those kids loved every minute of it. Do you have any pictures?
  19. Good job Mike and crew. It sounds like it was quite a trip. I wish I could have been out there also.
