  1. Yesterday was very rough. We were in South Haven also, and my stomach couldn't handle the big waves. Yuck! Better luck next time.
  2. Went to South Haven for the first time this morning. We didn't know where to start, so we decided to put the lines down at 40 ft, headed south, fighting with the high seas. I'm not sure about the predicted 1-3 ft waves, because they were more like 3-5. Ended up with 3 for 3. One 12# king, one 8# king, and a 2# coho. One on a 3 color with double orange crush, two on blue dolphin, 10 ft down, 60 ft back. All fish taken around 20-22 ft, and just north of the power plant. I would have liked to stay out longer and maybe catch more, but, with my sensitive stomach, we had to head back around 11:00. Katrina
  3. We planned on going tomorrow to South Haven, but with the predicted waves, I think we will be going Sunday morning instead. Thanks for the invite though. Good luck tomorrow. Katrina
  4. We were going to try st. joe again on saturday but maybe we'll steer towards south haven. Katrina and I are all about drinkin a beer afterwards and getting to meet some of you guys. Thanks for the info,Mark
  5. Sea-Mac, I'll let you know if I'm going to South Haven...that would be great if John let's you swipe a few of his lures, but if they're special to him, don't worry about it. Especially if he can't buy them anymore. How did you do by the way? You never reported how many you caught.
  6. Do the fish move north? I know that sounds like a stupid question, but why are people going to South Haven instead of St Joe? And where is the boat launch in South Haven?
  7. Congrats on winning. Sounds like you guys had a good time.
  8. Well, went out to St. Joe Saturday morning and went 0 for 0. We tried 10 to 30 ft water, south troll, north troll...and nothing seemed to work. This was much different from last weekend. I guess we'll try again next Saturday. Any suggestions? Should I go deeper, or north of piers? Good job on those who did catch fish. Katrina
  9. Hi Mike. I am also new to this site. Last week, I asked where I should go also, and a lot of people recommended St Joe. I live up by Cedar Springs/Sand Lake area, and at first, I thought that was going to be a long drive. But, let me tell you, it is well worth the drive. Within just a few hours, we had 8 coho!! I'm going to try to go down again this Saturday. But, so far, the waves look like they might be a bit high. Hopefully they die down by the weekend. It's up to you where you decide to go. Good luck and let us know how you do.
  10. What's the brown blast that is going on next weekend? Sounds like fun. Can I have some more info. please?
  11. With the advice from a few of the members from this website, we went south of the piers this morning. We ended with day with 8 for 11, all cohos, nothing huge, but good eaters. We left around 2:00 because the water was getting rough. This is what worked for us: 5 on double orange crush, 1 on tequila sunrise, 2 on jointed firetiger rapala, and 3 on a bait that Sea-Mac gave us at the boat launch. Thank you for that, it worked great. It was nice meeting you. I want to say thanks for everybody's advice, and hopefully, I'll meet more of the members from this site. Katrina
  12. Muskegon is where we usually fish out of. I was going to go there this weekend, but I was told it should be better in St Joe than Muskegon. Do you know where a good boat launch is in St Joe? I have never been there and I'm not sure where to go.
  13. Actually, I have a full boat this weekend...got a bunch of guys who don't know what they're doing...guess they need a captain to tell them what to do! LOL I'm sure I'll have room another time, though. Thanks for the suggestion and the info. I'll let you know what we catch.
  14. Hello everybody! I am somewhat new to salmon fishing, so I hope you don't mind me asking some questions that might be able to help me. I am heading down to St Joe Friday and Saturday, and I was wondering what depth would be good to go at. Also, are you using spoons or something else? And what speed? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Also, I have been a member for almost a year, but never posted anything because I was new to this. But you guys have been a great help to me. I think the guys that are on this are a great group of people who seem to enjoy fishing and, like to help people like me, who is still learning the ropes. Thank you for posting all that great information. You will definetly be seeing more of me. Thank you again, Katrina
  15. I'm very sorry for never posting before today. I am new to this and I didn't know what I was doing. But, I am a little more experienced, so you will be seeing more of me. I'm going to take your advice and head down there. What depths are they having luck at, what speed, and are they using spoons? Or something else? And, one other thing. How do I post my profile picture next to my name, like you and everybody else?
  16. Hi, I'm kind of new to salmon fishing (only been doing it for a few years), but I'm crazy about it. First, I'd like to say thanks to all the guys who write in their days catch and what they use. It has helped me quite a bit. Without your help, I wouldn't know what to do out there. You guys are great. Second, I'm hoping somebody can help me on where to go this Friday and Saturday. I was thinking about going to Muskegon, but I'm wondering if I should go south, to St Joe. And how deep should we go? I would like coho or browns, or to be honest with you, anything. I just want to get out there and catch something. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch.
