  1. i use spyder wire stealth and have no problems with it.
  2. Thanks for all the replies after looking a bit at prices i think it is going to be the depth raider or the subtroll for price point. Now just deciding between the two of those. Outdoorsman in jenison ( just about around the block from my house) says they are going to have the subtroll at their open house for the best deal they will have all season and i really dont want to spend a fortune on one. Any other comments are welcome as i am going to be checking back. As for sharks they make a great difference in the water and cabelas in dundee was closing them out. don't know if they have any left but the 10 lb were 15 buck and the 12 lb were 24 bucks. that was in the middle of summer i was there though. wish i had bought more of them when i was there.
  3. do you guys that have these units usually leave the probe on all the time? do all units probes cause about the same amout of blow back? the cable has nothing to do with blow back on the units requiring cable? basically if not using a probe do you get any blow back? can you use any release with them? i use walker releases.
  4. Ok i am wanting to put a device on the boat that gives me speed and temp at the ball. I am looking at a depth raider or fish hawk. what is the better of the two and is there any other options. For the D.R. i have walker downriggers. How hard is it to rig the DR to the downrigger?
  5. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this board. Found it this spring and has been a valuable resource, and met some nice people through here. I decided to pull my boat for the season becasue of hunting season starting up soon, and i messed up my rotator cup in my right shoulder. i want it to get feeling better before i try and pull my bow. I'll check in a few times this winter, but just wanted to say thanks. If i dont talk to anyone on here through the winter, see ya next spring. Aaron Line Dancin
  6. large white slick spin doctor and howies lil boy blue on a wire diver
  7. I saw you coming back from port sheldon earlier this year. I had a white and blue bayliner. I was behind you coming up to 31 and jumped out of my truck to tell you your bimini was unsnapped at the red light. Dont nkow if you remember or not.
  8. Nope not made any more. I got the last one shipped in from cabelas last summer when i lost my original one. It came from a store out west. It's model is "GMT-40" if you want to try and search for one. good luck. i wish i had been able to get another one. Oh Well.
  9. We started today at about 5 am first time this year that everyone made it here on time. Went out to 70 ft to start and ended in 120. Put out a full core with a dw green ladderback j-plug and had a fish before the board even go to the side of the boat. We set mostly with j-plugs on two full cores and two 150 coppers. Ran two short high lines for steelies to no avail. Spoons and J's on the riggers. Had two hits on a purple with hot pink J on a rigger 45 down. One on a wire diver white slick spinny and lil boy blue back 110, one on a green spinny and seaweed fly 150 back. 8 on cores and coppers. ended with 10 kings. Lost two real nice kings in the riggers and a couple long line releases. The two lost in the riggers just full out charged the boat and then when they saw the lights on the back put the brakes on and tried to go sideways right into the riggers. One cut the cord on the j-pulg hooks when it hit the wire. all total i think we had sixteen on. I really need to start keeping a log. We were in at 12:30am. edit: Best water was 80 - 100 fow
  10. Went out of port sheldon last night and started at 6:30 in 125 fow and went out to 165. Went 6 for 7 by 10pm when we pulled lines. One came on a Doen Rigger 90 down on a dreamweaver wonderbread j plug. one on a mag dipsy 160 back with a green spinny and green fly. two on 3 on 150 copper with wonderbread and green DW jplugs and one on a 300 with a blue glow Luhr Jensen Jplug. Two were steelhead one on the copper 150 with green dw plug the one was about 13 pounds. One Steelhead 7 lbs on a rigger 38 down on a wonderbread jplug. 1 10 lb king and then 3 smaller kings. The one we lost was on a green flounder pounder 90 down.
  11. Where were you perch fishing we were thinking of doing that tomorrow morning. We took six for seven last night out of PS. Mostly on copper 150 with jplugs and 300 with jplugs.
  12. Thanks jim, they sell them at gold coast right? i think if i buy more than six my wife will freak after all the new equipment i bought this summer and then a new shotgun sunday.
  13. jimbobber, i was thinking of trying some of your spoons out, what are your best colors, your top six that you would choose?
  14. Nice Job. We were out but didn't have luck with us at all. We were in shallow out deep then my brothers friend got a little green on us so we cam in at 10:30 with one 13 lb king and one farmed fish, went through the dipsy and two coppers what a mess. Hopefully we will go out wednesday night.
  15. I should be out both saturday and sunday. give us a hail on 68. Line Dancin is the boat name. My plan is to be at the launch at 4:30. Good luck with the rookies.
  16. Alex and Jon have you tried using Better Than Bait at all? I bought a couple packs at the fishing show and it has been producing as good as real bait. It also holds up fish after fish. We usually use herring oil from the same people, but during the tourney in ludington i forgot the herring oil at home. What we did was after landing a fish we rubbed the BTB all over the fish, got is good and slimy (to get some sent) and put it in five minutes later we had a fish on. this worked really well during the tourney for us. here is a link to their site: http://www.bigwatertackle.com/bw/
  17. Good job. We were up in ludington for the last week for the tourney and was wondering what was going on down here. I am hoping to go out tomorrow or wednesday night, i still need to catch up on sleep from the last week tonight. Your report gives me a clue where to set up. Thanks.
  18. Same thing in ludington. i have seen one out there.
  19. Are you sure it is copper and not steel. I was just talking with a guy that was saying the same things. When i looked at the line it was 30lb steel. There is a company makiny 7 strand steel that looks copper in color. what is the diameter on the line you have on the reel? it may just be 7 strand steel. If it is like the diameter of about 12lb test i would say is it steel.
  20. i'll take it i am in jenison, but i can't get it till monday (the 21st) as i am leaving tonight for ludington for the tourney
  21. Thanks for the information. I don't know if i am going to be able to get out or not now. I made it to my parents in milford (pontiac area) and now have my right rear hub pulled apart. We stopped at a rest area and i smelled brakes burning, so we limped it to my parents and pulled it apart at ten at night. the lining came off the shoe and was wedged between the drum and the shoe. So i have to make a trip to a trailer place (richfiled in flint) in the morning to try and buy parts to get back on the road again. Man what crap luck. this is twice that i tried to get to lake erie now this summer. Hopefully i can get it together and get out sunday morning.
  22. Was wondering which launch would be better to use sterling or bolles. I have both a state park sticker and a luanch permit. This is the first time on Erie in 20 years and not sure which to use. I was wondering what is the shortest and easiest to get out to the lake. I have a 23 foot bayliner that need at least 4 foot of water. Also where is the best place to head to when i go out so i have a little heads up on where to start. I will be trolling with plugs and spoons.
  23. there was a net that had drifted down and was hung up but i dont have the numbers, and not sure if it was pulled out yet or not.
  24. A couple weeks ago when i was out the Holland or Grand Haven Coast gave out gps coordinates for a net in about 40 feet of water. Does anyone know if that net is still there and maybe the numbers fot it. I am planning a trip for wednesdy evening and wanted to stay away from it.
  25. Thanks everyone. Caznik i will give you a call later tonight. thanks for the pm. I tried the Educated angler board but i think i like it here a little better after looking around. Seems like everyone is more than willing to help out. I like the site format also. Scubaboard is on the same type message board. It is really nice to be able to network with people and help others and learn form others.
