  1. The fish were all around 7lbs. Nothing real big but good eaters. Frank it is Priority 1 on my list to head east and catch some walleye this summer with you. Hope you come over here again also.
  2. Got the boat in the water today and went 6 for 7. I caught 5 browns and 1 steelhead trolling between the the sand bars. All fish came on a purple descent rapalla. I was running spoons and rapallas. Only 1 produced fish though. Water temp was 43. If the lake cooperates I will be fishing all weekend.
  3. I have removed all my Berts stuff and put on Michigan rod holders. I fish alot and the Berts ratchet system wore out and would dop my rod tip in the water with any wave action. I fished last year with michigan rod holders and had no issues. They are built with the keep it simple stupid method of engineering and I see nothing that can wear out. Never fished with Traxtech so I can not give you my oppinion on them. As for lead core I have a great lakes planers rod mast that works great and is adjustable. I also use large Big Jon otter boats wit an electric mast instead of inline boards. I believe my lures get more action.
  4. I fished Saturday and Sunday. Fished out to 320 fow on Saturday and only catch was a nice steelhead in 250 fow on a half core with a modified dolphin dreamweaver spoon. I saw alot of fish in the 175 to 150 depths so Suday that is where I fished. I went 6 for 8. 2 steelhead on half core with a modified dolphin, 3 kings on a bounty hunter down 110 foot and 1 laker that I put back because the season is closed. I caught the laker on NBK 100 down. All fish were caught between 150 and 120 fow. Temp was 60 on surface and 54 120 down. It was too warm for hunting. I like my deer to hang a few deers before butchering. Pulling boat out of slip soon but will fish through November.
  5. Fished out of whitelake on 10-04. The temp was 52 on the surface when I got to 150 fow and was colder towards shore. I fished from 40 to 200 thinking the fish would be in shallow with the colder water but did not find but a few fish on the graph all evening.Ended up going 3 for 3 in 150 to 170 fow. 1/2 core caught two and a rigger with 1/4 core set down 20 foot caught one. Still going to fish another month if I can find anyone that wants to go when I am not working or hunting.
  6. I fished last night out of Whitelake port. I was 14 for 17. The water is warm and I could not find a break until 100fow. I trolled from 100 to 200. Caught most of my fish 92 down in 130fow. The dreamweaver purple frog caught 3 on a 15 color core. 2 came on a moonshine fly behind a blue glow spin doctor on a magnum dipsey set on 1 200 back. 1 came on a green fly behind a carmel dolphin spin doctor mag dipsy set on 1 175 back. 4 came on a deadly weapon set 91 down with a Flintstone bounty hunter. 2 came on a moonshine Carbon 14 set down 110 on the rigger. The other two came on sliders. It was a foggy and 2-4 waves so I was only running 8 rods. No tangle ups. Was nice to get back out I have not been out for two weeks.
  7. I go after the better eaters that are in 200 fow when the congestion occurs.
  8. I always use the side with the most action. I use 18 inch length on my flys and a 6 foot lead from my diver to attractor. Have been catching more with my dipseys than any other poles on the boat since the beginning of July.
  9. That 20lb king would have won big fish if you would have been fishing Johnsons tournament. Big fish was 19. I was 8 for 14 on Saturday morning with the largest being 16lb. Lost one larger king at the boat because of inexperienced rod handler. The lake did get alot rougher than forcast I had one come slightler over the rear corner of my 20 foot boat. All in all a good day fishing.
  10. I fished Muskegon with Big Jack, RogerH69, and Priority1. We went 11 for 20 with some decent Kings. It was good to fish with 3 GLFers.
  11. I built some mounts so I could mount the planer mast. The side of the boat angles down 10 degrees and the side walls have a 15 degree taper. I do not have a problem building another set if you need a set. The rod holders are adjustable and can be adjusted everytime you go out. I have my Berts mounted directly not on the track system. I am changing the Berts to the Stinger rod holders. I am located in Montague Mi you can come look at it anytime you are close if you like. PM me if you would like to know more. I do know a place where the launcher can be bought for less than direct. Thanks Mike
  12. Count me in. I talked with Priority 1 and he will be here Friday evening ready to share some of his experience with me.
  13. Sign me up. Priority one and his friend will be fishing both days with me. Do I buy the lure from you or buy it from a local tackle shop? Thanks Mike
  14. I heard on the marine radio tonight that there is an abandoned net in 163 fow just north of Muskegon. The fisherman gave coordinates but I did not find a pen quick enough.
  15. The net holders carry the nets while trolling and under power great. It is a learning experience the first few times getting the net to land a fish but I have it under control now after a few fishing trips. Might change the hold down knobs to standard allen screws once I am sure of the rod holder placement. The net likes to get caught on the handles. Priority One I am looking forward to seeing some of your tricks for the Dreamweaver challange. I have been catching some nice kings and steelhead the last couple weeks.
  16. I fished Saturday morning out of Muskegon. For a 20 foot boat it fishes quit well. I really think I would like a 27 Amberjack like GLF but I have never fished on an Amberjack and the cost of gas is getting expensive with my single 305 I can only imagine twins. Might bite the bullet next year though. I was told Sunny Beach out of Whitehall was calling me on Saturday night. Fishing mornings this week in preperation for the Cabelas shoot out. New to tournaments but plan on giving it my best shot. Still short 1 person so I might have to take my son or daughter so I can run 9 rods.
  17. THIS IS MY SALMON FISHING BOAT. I HAVE A GREAT LAKES PLANERS ROCKET LAUNCHER, 3 BIG JON ELECTRIC DOWNRIGGERS AND 1 CANNON DIGI TROLL. I HAVE 4 BERTS ROD HOLDERS FOR DIPSEYS AND AN ELECTRIC BIG JON PLANER MAST MOUNTED ON THE BOW. I USE A CANNON SPEED N TEMP FOR FINDING THERMALCLINES AND HAVE A BOTTOM LINE TOURNAMENT MASTER GRAPH. I FISH COPPER, LEAD CORE, DIPSEYS (WIRE AND BRAIDED) AND MY DOWNRIGGERS DEPENDING ON HOW MANY ARE ABOARD. CAN NOT SPEAK WELL ENOUGH ABOUT THAT ROCKET LAUNCHER I BOUGHT FROM FALCON. THE BOAT IS A 1979 TIARA OVERNIGHTER 2000.
  18. I sent you shirt sizes not for sure of my crew. If i can i need to change the sizes. I talked to priority 1 tonight and he need a 2xl and so does his friend. I need a 3xl if available. I am willing to buy a small for my daughter if possible. Thanks Mike

  19. Definately got my attention. Couple guys at work told me they would have thrown the pole in the water as oppossed to getting shocked. It was on a Talora rod and a Convector 55 so that was out of the question. I wanted to fish tonight but looked a little too gloomy and a chance of another thunder boomer so I passed. I will give report next time I venture out. Definately if strange things start to happen like reels humming pack it up and fish another day. Mike
  20. Fished this afternoon for a short while. I set my lead out on one side and copper on the other. Put the first rigger down 91 foot with a slider. Caught three fish before I could get another rigger set. All came on a Fishlander that was orange with spots and was the slider mentioned above. Before I could set it out again my reels were vibrating or humming. I would touch them and get what I thought was a static shock. I pulled them in with the last one shocking me the whole time of retrieval. The lake must have had some electricity in it. I did not see any lightning but it was quite a storm by the time I got to the dock. Never had this happen before. I think it would have been a great day if I could have fished for more than an hour. Caught these fish in 100 foot of water north of the twin dunes. Anyone ever have this happen before? I better check the weather not just the lake forecast from now on.
  21. Orange Killer was the best for me it took 4 on a core and a half. 1 with the Blue machine on a rigger deep, 2 on Area 51 on full copper, 2 with the Killer blue dolphin, 2 undersize Lakers with Craigs x mas running on a rigger deep and Corys Bait took one on a full copper with a dive bomb.Good lure package just could not find a legal laker or steelhead. Plan on doing again next year.
