  1. my favorite coho spoon is a green dolphin ss
  2. Sounds like you were successful at getting fish to bite with your new rigger. I like the fact that you can control it from several devices.
  3. Ditto what FBD said. Down low and troll slow a little deeper.
  4. Great job Dave, The happy fisherman and fisherwomen pics are great ! Nice job adjusting and getting dialed in.what a beautiful morning on the big water!
  5. Great solo run Ed. Netting those kings alone is an art. The water was great this morning for a solo trip. We were out of Pentwater in 55 fow. We almost had a 6 rod spread in and a flurry resulted in every rod being back in the boat and a 225 copper broke off and in the mouth of a feisty king. It was a plug bite all week up here. If the plug glowed it got bit. 8 for 14 before we could get a cup of coffee.
  6. That is a great catch running solo !
  7. port sheldon 8/3/25 a.m. 5 for 6 We hit the water very early as well and hooked up with what ended up being a 20.5 lb king before 5:30 a.m. We started in 125' and stayed at that depth running north south. Fighting the big king was very interesting in the dark. We ended up boating 4 more kings and losing one by 8:30 a.m. 225 coppers and high divers back 150' were our best presentations. Captains choice plugs, meat rigs, and a dream weaver glow frog ss spoon did the damage.
  8. Congrats to you too Jon on Sea Foam. You solo guys are good fisherman and when you’re putting multiple fish in the boat it’s impressive. I think I lose as many fish as you guys and I have a 2 of us on board
  9. Well done again Ed. Your solo fishing adventures are impressive. Those 20 lb kings can cause mayhem at any time so getting him in the boat solo is a job well done. thanks for the report.
  10. Congrats Ed ! A solo limit is difficult on any day. well done.
  11. Very nice reward for your effort Ed. We gave the rough water a try yesterday morning out of port Sheldon and had to quit at 8:30 as my 1st mate got sick. We did manage to boat 2 and lost 3 in a row. Green spoons and blue/white spin docs with green flies or meat were taking hits. Riggers, divers, and boards all took hits fishing 40’ to 90’ down.
  12. Well done again Ed. Some how you pick the windy sessions and the kings that want to run sideways.
  13. Very impressive Ed ! 2-3 footers, 2 fish on, tangled, and fishing solo. That’s an adventure!
  14. Well done guys ! Good call on getting a plug in the spread. Thanks for the report.
  15. Well done ! Beautiful big king.
  16. Found a few fish this morning after a couple of tough days. Put a 6 rod spread out. 2 riggers. One with a paddle and fly the other with spoons. (Blue dolphins) 2 low divers with meat rigs. 2 high divers with spin docs and flies. (Green flies and green meat rigs). Fish were 40’ to 100’ down in 110 fow to 145 fow. Missed 2 on spoons on starboard downrigger and boated 6. Eleven inch paddle down 100 took a 11 lb steelhead.
  17. Tough fishing up north in Pentwater too. Not marking many fish and when we mark them they do not seem to be hungry. Missed 2 and boated 1 dandy king on a meat rig Sunday morning. Beautiful boat ride though.
  18. Well done guys ! Thank you for the details. I have a question for all you guys. What length is you meat rig set up ? I typically run a standard 68”rig from Dreamweaver and haven’t had any more success when I play with different lengths. Speed and rotating action seem to be more important than the length.
  19. Thanks for fishing report BLP. We went looking where you left off. We had a short window to wash some lures Sunday evening at sunset so we took advantage of it. Started in 125 fow south of PS. Marked bait when we got into 85 fow. Picked up a king and a laker on 200 copper and a rigger. Ran all SS spoons. Beautiful evening for a boat ride.
  20. Well done Ed. Netting a 15# king fishing solo can be exciting . Thanks for the report.
  21. We were one of those boats that went out around 4 PM from port Sheldon. We sat down in 150 feet of water and zigzagged east over the next two hours. we picked up a king on sb rigger down 60 in 145 fow. The wind picked up pretty good so we continued to let it blow us on shore and picked up another king on a 225 copper in 85 fow. We marked quite a few fish in shallow but it was getting a little sporty in the 17 foot Lund so we called it and headed for the harbor. We ran all spoons. Rosta goose and bloody nose hooked the two kings.
  22. Great strategy for fishing solo.
  23. Less fish caught this spring may increase catches this summer and fall.
