  2. Janet was on board for her first fishing trip of the season and was rewarded with a boat load of flies. Dropped lines just before 6:00pm, fishing closer to Port Sheldon covering 145 to 105 FOW running 4 dipseys and two down riggers, no long lines. The few times I have been out, most of the action has been on dipseys so I went that route plus it would be easier for Janet to handle versus 300 Cu. All our action came on northerly trolls where the boat speed was slower. Boated and kept 2 nice size coho in the 8lb range. First one came on an inside dipsey with a DW UV Green Dolphin down 54'. After a two hour wait, the second came on an outside dipsey with a DW UV Mixed Veggie down 33'. Switched over to darker lures for the night bite. Stinger Kevorkian on a high diver got three hits: Once nice king that flipped out of the water, bent the hook and got off, one drive by and the last rod in the water as I picked it up - a small 4lb king that was released. Netted and released an additional small king in the dusk bite. Downriggers down ranging 66-85' of cable out with spoons and flies did not see any action. Overall, 4 for 6 with coho for dinner tonight and a boat to clean this afternoon.

  8. Got two gizzard shad and countless alewife with the Sabiki Rig at the Oak Creek Power Plant. I was really excited to catch those Gizzard Shad! That's a point in the roughfish tournament I wasn't expecting to get.

  13. Local marinas should be able to let you rent a transient slip for a day especially during a weekday???
  14. Are there nets placed outside Whitehall now? I hope to go out Saturday and hope for tight lines. Reel Therapy Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman
  15. It's a venture trailer. No one seems to have the bunks not even the mfg can tell me when they will make them. Can't seem to get a straight answer. Not a good sign. Eastermarine (Delaware) has had them on order for more then a month from Venture trailers. They are a unique bunk with a 6 degree angle cut at the top to match most hulls. I'm working with a company to make my replacements, I will see how that goes. These I will make out of oak, not pressure treated pine as were on the trailer. Not cheap! Boat with not be able launch probably for a month or more while waiting trailer bunks. My back up plan should that fail will be made of the same pressure treated pine I can get at Lowes (4) 10'x8"x3" boards, liquid nails and stainless steel screws or deck screws put them together, cut the angle with my table saw and carpet them, mount them on the trailer while my boats sits at a launch ramp somewhere. Still looking for a spot. To keep it for a few hours so the trailer can be worked on. This is the cheapest by far and quickest, but It will not last the longest. The trailer was built in 2011 so the bunk that failed had a great run. I just waiting to see what works out with the more expensive plan. But, remember I have two boats so my 16-1/2' will still take me fishing, through I will have to watch the weather closer. Sent from my Z5156CC using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  16. Very nice steelhead caught on the deep rigger. Hope you can figure out an easy means to store the boat while you repair the bunk board on your trailer. Are you thinking of fixing it yourself or taking it over to someone who can work on it?
  17. Chasing some more freshwater fish for the tournament I'm in. Went fishing the morning before my last day of work. Only had an hour and a half, but the smallmouth were biting, and a sucker, too. This was on June 7th, so the Milwaukee River was RAGING.
  18. Thanks for reporting. Still sounding pretty slow out there. I did see one decent report out of Port Sheldon on FB from last night.

  20. I am glad you got a decent steelhead. I haven’t seen a good one yet this season. Thanks for the report. Sorry to hear about your boat needing repairs. Clyde Reel Therapy Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman
  21. Fished solo, 80-150 fow. 2 for 2. Small lake trout 3# and a 8.18# steelhead. Most bait and fish were between 120-135fow. Both fish were loaded with bait. 1- lake trout, 3#, 11:33am, 5 eyes lure. on DR, down 100, in 140fow, 2.6 sog. S trl, ball temp 43.6. Alot of big marks down low. I was hoping for something bigger with all those marks. He spit his dinner up during my xfer to the cooler. 2-steelhead 8.18#, 11:57am, burnt bread on a slider on DR, rigger was down 98 in 130 fow, on a S trl.. Nice to see that gleam of the Steelie. Current was all over the place down deep. Lake was flat. No bites earlier in the am for me. When I went to pull my boat out, I noticed one of my bunkboards had partially collapsed. This is going to be quite a challenge to repair. Not what I was hoping for at the end of the day. Sent from my Z5156CC using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  22. We trolled from 6 to 10 am. I thought maybe this turnover would fire things up but it didn't seem to have much of an effect. We dropped lines at 65 ft because we saw some enticing marks but after one pass with no takers they went away so we went out and bounced between 110 and 155 ft. We ended up 1-2 with an 8# coho and something big that didn't stay on for long. We also got a shaker throwback king. Here's what took the hits 0-1 mixed veggies spindoctor with a SpongeBob meat rig on 300 copper in 155 ft 1-1 Michigan stinger blue dolphin flasher with a blue dolphin fly on 400 copper in 115 ft Sent from my Pixel 6 Pro using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  23. I went to a swampy lake because there are bowfin in there. I was targeting them because I'm in a fishing tournament where the goal is to catch as many different freshwater fish species (non micro) that you can during the month of June. I found three other fish species in there, too. It was a battle to land this fish through the slop, but thankfully, it stayed on the hook in a pile of weeds until I could kayak over to net it.
  24. Tangled tackle has the red pepper teasers. All you will need is red beads (or other color) l, hook and swivel. You can do it.
  25. Yes, now that I look at pictures better, it is a steelie which Terry in brown coat is holding. TY
