  2. No king, but a 11#, 31" laker, on a DR down 108 in 155fow on a flounder pdr mag at 11:09am yesterday. I was halfway to my Holland two fish limit. Sent from my Z5156CC using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  3. Never made it out, I run a 16ft boat seemed I bit choppy, there will be better days.
  4. Don't worry, fishing will get better. It has too, can't cut the yard every day!
  5. Made only our second trip of the season to the big lake today at South Haven. Zero boat trailers in the parking lot at the boat launch when we got there at 6:30 should have told us what to expect. We could only scratch up four fish going 4-4. Two lakers, a nice steelhead and a small king. Two lakers on the downrigger 75 feet down with a tin can dodger doctored up with green prism tape on one side with a chrome and green spin-n-glow. A small king hit the other down rigger down 65 feet with a UV blue dolphin spoon. The steelhead hit 10 colors of leadcore with a warrior whammy spoon. Fished 70 to 120 feet of water. All fish came in narrow band of water 105 to 108 deep. Only 3 fish last trip down in St Joe and four this trip. Hard to get excited about 3-4 fish per trip these days. Sent from my iPad using Great Lakes Fisherman
  6. First skunk of the season after a dozen trips. Fished 80-145’ with no hits. Two other boats got a few.
  7. Yesterday
  8. he won big fish in the GH tourney today - photo is attached
  9. no problem please share info on what you figure out tonight! kings are tiny and sparse right now my son did just land a 23# chinook on Fowl Hooked in the pro tournament off Grand Haven a couple hours ago but those guys are good and I have no idea how they found that mature fish!
  10. Thanks for the report, hoping to make it out tonight.
  11. 2for2 77-81fow was what worked South and Southeast troll both came on copp250 Hawaiian spoon cool morning out there & good thing PUG bundled up
  12. Last week
  13. First time fishing out of Grand Haven (typically out of Holland). Started out great, average sized king at 6:30am in 120FOW trolling West, with the East wind. Nothing after that as East winds picked up quickly by 7am and effective trolling became tough. Ranged from 80-150FOW, did not mark much. King: 120FOW, 225 copper w/ Superbread spoon: 6:30am. West troll (East wind)
  14. Picking up my new truck tomorrow which will allow us to get up north and fish more.
  15. first time out this season PUG has been down south nailing Tarpon and Goliath Grouper all winter so now he has to shift gears for Michigan 3for3 first fish was on dipsey at 6am while letting it out in 68fow on a west troll.. literally was the first rod I had set this year and it went off within 8seconds while I was slowly letting her out (60 out) so hopefully that is a good sign on what's to come other 2 fish came in a chaotic double in 78fow at around 745am on a NW troll both the 10 color went with a green jeans spoon and also the rigger went 38 down with a shelly snack spoon seemed quite out there on radio
  16. The Reel Shot in Appleton, WI and Tangled Tackle in Manistee carries DW meat rigs but it appears the Red Pepper is out of stock. I have purchased product from both these stores. My other favorite places to buy gear (Fat Nancy's, Franks, Fish USA, Fish 307) don't carry the DW meat rigs. A-Tom-Mik product seams to be more widely carried. Good luck.
  17. Anyone have a source for “red pepper” flies/meat rigs? Capt Chucks is out of flies and can’t even locate the meat rig. Thks
  18. Hard to believe Fin Warrior has been in the water since April 21st and this was the first time I wet lines. Fished the top of the water column with two dipseys tipped with spoons and on downrigger rigged with a SD & green crinkle fly two passes out. Set up just north of Saugatuck in 130 FOW trolling south at about 11:00am. After about 30 min decided to move out to deeper water. As I moved into the second of two slicks in 187FOW, the downrigger went off. Netted a 5lb king and released it. Made a quick adjustment to start turning south to follow the slick. Before I could get the rod back down, the port dipsey sporting a DW Mixed Veggie UV spoon brought in a 4lb coho which I kept. Just as I got the downrigger down to depth and finished the turn to the south, the SB dipsey tipped with a silver red UV spoon went off bringing in another 5lb king that was released. Got both dipseys back down and followed the slick in and out but the magic was not there. Changed direction to a north troll, back tracking my southernly run but not a bump. Did notice that the water temp at my Smart Troll probes dropped two degrees so on a hunch, decided to move closer to shore to get back to 54.5 degrees at 45' down in the water column. Got to that temperature in 170FOW and got a second hit on the dipsey with the Mixed Veggie spoon. Lost it at the back of the boat. Likely a coho by the way it was thrashing around. Pulled lines a short time later weary of the front moving in that broke up over the lake. Mid-day the lake was very flat and the flies were thick but not biters. The coho made for a great dinner! # Time Fish Weight FOW Latitude Troll Wind Dir. 19. I thought this Baby Bluey toy looked like a little bluegill, and apparently the fish did too.
  20. Kids and I decided to give full moon fishing extravaganza a try. Fished 10pm - 4am. Started with riggers and hi lo divers to see how we would fare with a sometimes less is more attitude. Shaker King off rigger 33 down 30 back Carbon 14 70fow North Slow going so added 2 boards in made some adjustments to riggers and dipsys and worked 70-130fow. Didn't change up lures mostly tried depths, speed, and direction. Lot's of crazy ivan's. Shaker King off board 2 color #14 Perch DDHJ 70fow East While it was slow fishing, the company and the experience was priceless. We would do it again. No fish pics we all know what Shaker Kings look like and really aspire to be
  21. No hits in 2.5 hrs this afternoon working 55-130FOW out of Saugatuck. Ran long lines (6 color through 350cu) and dipsies.
  22. We set up about a mile east of the Toledo shipping channel and hit our first fish with 2 rods in. It was a hot bite. The wife and I got our 12 and threw 5 back pulling lines. All 6 rods went off to end our trip at 9:30 am. Copper backed Moonshine and stinger spoons on divers discs with 80ft and 90ft leads. Had one rod at 70ft and it went 3 times. Good luck!
  23. Earlier
  24. Better luck than me! I went 0-1. Lost a Steelhead at the boat when it took a tail dance. I thought he was spent. Shelly snack, rigger down 85 ft, 30 ft back. 2.5 mph sog. North troll. 125 fow. I fished north of the harbor. Beautiful morning. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman
  25. Went 2/2 today, finally got out after I installed a new water pump kit on my kicker motor. Fished solo north of Holland. 1-small king, 3.3#, 9:27am, ms std rv sniper on free slider, stb DR bk 55, 2.4 sog, N trl, ball temp 50.7, down 80ft, 156fow. 2-steelhead 5.13#, 9:39am, ms rv burnt bread, stb DR bk 55, 2.4 sog, N trl, ball temp 50.7, down 80ft, 150 fow. When I sent the 1st setup down a second time. The steelhead hit the main lure just as I attached the sniper slider to the main line. Beautiful day, bit of shake down cruise.. Temperature break was at 70-80 ft down. lake was almost flat. Rougher closer to shore than out farther. Also was buzzed by a drone near the CG station. Hovered over my boat as I just got inside the no wake zone and was heading toward the channel entrance. It surprised me at the crack of dawn.
