jdh Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Last minute trip. Couldn't not go given the wave conditions and how good the fishing has been. Fished from 7:30 until 10 pm pretty much straight out of Holland in 90-120 fow. 110 fow was best for us. Did a good job of finding the fish, just not a great job getting them in the net. Ended up 4 for 12. Two 15 lbs, one 8 lbs, one 6 lbs - all kings. Mag diver with meat back 115 was hot - 5 hits. Mag diver with glow spoon took 2 hits. Mag diver with flasher fly took 1 hit. Downrigger down 45 with standard moonshine took 1 hit 250 copper took 2 hits. Also tried a slider on a downrigger with a whole alewife - it got hammered but the hooks didn't catch. I'm going try that again. There's a way to hook the alewife so it spins pretty good. Had lots of fish swim into and attack our stuff based on Livescope imagery, but hooks were not sticking. Had a great time out there again. 3

zgrinder on Fin Warrior Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Had the same thing happen the night before. Lots of tip ups and strikes that came undone during the fight. Glad you got two nice kings in your catch.
littleboat Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Sharpened all my hooks last two trips caught more fish, but did notice fish tangled me up trying to get off them.Sent from my SM-A156U1 using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app 1
SeaFoam Posted July 30 Posted July 30 I fished with a high school friend from 8:15-10:00 pm last night. Turned into Jon’s netting adventures. Went 3-6, or 7, or something like that. I had several light bites that came unhooked. I sharpened my hooks after Zgrinder’s report the night before. It didn’t help with the missed fish but did help me bury a plug harness in the net with the fish still hooked up. A bit later a 14 lb king twisted a spoon into the net. Had to cut the line to net another fish with the spoon still in the net. That fish got the hook buried in the net too. Lovely. Caught a 7 lb coho, and 12 and 14 lb kings. Mag ms green jeans, mag rv ms green jeans, and a green plug all worked. Fished 100-130 fow. My friend enjoyed the excitement and craziness. 3

Indybleck Posted July 30 Posted July 30 We got out there, marked fish but no takers. We'll be back to give it another go. Really appreciate all the detailed reports. Sent from my SM-G970U using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App 1
