Well I couldn't take it any longer and fired up the chartplotter, and fishfinder today! Couldn't get the chartplotter to turn on. It finally worked after 4 hard resets:( Glad it finally worked, but doesn't give me the warm fuzzy feeling! Anyway here is some shots for you guys that bought the Raymarine fishfinder, and some of the chartplotter. Oh and the pics don't do the fishfinder justice.

Sean, thanks for the update. The fishfinder in the box in the garage waiting to get the boat from storage is killing me as well. Read through the manual about 10 times already. Can't wait to get in on the boat...

I have been using Lowrance products for 10 years and the two units I own at the mo will be my last Lowrance units ever, Worst piece of crap ive ever had.

Last year I bought two new Lowrance units, one Lcx112c and one Globalmap 8200c. I bought those in the US and had them shipped to Sweden packed on a car I imported. The Lcx112C card readers didnt work att arrival, both slots were stone dead, made a call to their tech center in Tulsa, and the tech representant I spoke to said that I had to ship it back for service....., brand new not even installed.

6-8 weeks later my unit arrived in Sweden with new card readers, in the mean time I had used my Globalmap for like 8-10 hrs. I connected up both units and ran them both for 3-4 hours while fishing, and then all of a sudden the back light on the Globalmap died, omfg another call to Tulsa, same answer "send it back and we will replace it". Another 6-8 weeks when summer was gone i had both units again. Now I´m feeling nervous about if this crap will work or not....

And by the way, those phone calls wasn´t too easy. Had to wait for more than an hour several times before I got to talk to somebody, and some times after waiting for 45-50 mins all of a sudden the call disconnects.

Good luck on your Globalmap, and hope you wont have to experience the same probs as i´ve had.

/Kjell

I hope I made a good purchase. I should have done some digging on the internet before I made the purchase. Seems they might have a customer service issue. However I did send them an email explaining what happend and they did respond for me to give them the serial number and they would issue me an RMA for service, so maybe the internet is the way to go vs the phone with them. The reason I bought this particular unit was lowrance was having a blowout sale if you bought the Globalmap you basically got the LRA 5000 Radar for free. I hope I am one of the satisfied customers....time will tell.

I haven't stepped into the new Millennium yet. I'm running an 15yo+ LMS350 combo unit by Lowrance. It takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Actually it was on the boat when I bought it. I have the old style external antenna on top of my hardtop and NEVER lose signal. I will not get a new one until this unit fails. Sorry to hear you bad luck with their products.

Vitalidle-I am going to pick up the exact same FF unit that you have pictured tomorrow. It's brand new in the box and will come with warranty and everything. I want to know what you think of the FF?

I am very satisfied with the DX600. I bought a thru hull transducer for my big boat and used the transom ducer for the 16fter. My big boat will run 45mph and it holds bottom at 250ft depth. I haven't been deeper yet, so i don't know how deep it will hold bottom at speed. With the transom ducer its about 150ft at around 30mph. The only issue I have had is it will somtimes pick up the cannon balls and think its the bottom. I run the ridge back rattlers and they give off a pretty good signature in the water, so that could be part of the problem. I would buy another one:)

bethel marine...i bought it online

Bethel had some great deals on raymarine stuff. I believe they are all sold out on the DX600's, but its worth checking as they were cheap.

Yup, I was just lookiing at that site, and they don't have the 600 listed, but they do have a ds500x listed which seems to have similar attributes for $260. So I can buy a brand new 600 for $500 or a 500 for $260. What to do what to do?

I'm pretty sure I did just save some loot. Hope that dude will understand tomorrow. I was trying to make sure it was in stock so I don't have any issues. Was just about to put my CC# into bethel's order form.
