  1. I put a panther on my boat last year, I like it so far.
  2. 0 None Spring time brown trout fishing. I have fished out of grand haven and port sheldon all my life, but i have never broke the ice and taregted some browns and lake trout before in the early spring. if you guys could answer my questions i would greatly appreciate it. 1: how deep do you troll by the shore? on the beach to 20' 2: what color, size, and kind of floating raplas are you best producers? I use Jointed up to size 11 or thin fish Colors vary from day to day, but natural colors are a good starting point 3: what lb test mono do you use? 12 4: what temperature do the browns start fire? As soon as you can get out 5: what size boards do you use. I use yellow birds 6: do you get a mixed bag of steelhead and lakers too? Yes I know i am a green horn but i would gladly apperciate your feed back. no problem
  3. Good morning all..... I am sitting here looking outside wishing it was spring... So.... Here is the game we are going to play... Go down to your tackle box, and lay out your May 1 spread of spoons, FF, whatever... Take a picture and post and if you want explain why or good early season success programs. I am going to start digging through gear today and I will post mine!
  4. Green Yellow Mylar ace high (Sunny days) Green Splatter back DW on (cloudy days)
  5. I put a 2 foot section of 40 pound mono to connect copper to lead.
  6. Before I went to a bigger boat I used I pilot on my 18 footer.
  7. Dan, Slide divers...= no handlining
  8. So... I am the first to admit, I will try dang near anything to catch fish... Big al's flashers (Worked) Brad's Cut Blug (works sometimes) Meat (Sad to say it works alot) Hot n tots (worked) J-13 (worked) However... the number one thing that I believe improved my catch rates in 2013 was what we called the Nuclear weapon rig. Any amount of copper, followed by 2-3 colors of lead on the end. I ran one side of the boat for almost a month with standard copper set ups and the other side with the NWR. The NWR side out fished the standard side 2-1. Needless to say that by the end of the year, ALL my copper has core on the end. Even if it does not make a huge difference on catching fish, it makes setting copper a sinch in the dark. Once you get the 2 colors of core off the copper slides right through the eyes without any issue. Anyone else try this.. Any feedback?
  9. Just Hookin' I did not see the same issues on the long lines with the TX44. (Not discrediting your statement) When running FF meat rigs on the 400 and 450 we rarely lost a fish if it it. In saying that however, I only ran FF and plugs on those rods, could it be something to do with the hook up on a spoon. Food for thought....
  10. Joe, I have 4 of the TX44 boards for my "long" coppers 300+ and it does make a difference. They pull nice out to the side which allows a nice spread even in choppy water. As for fighting fish on them, as long as you don't berry the board nose first into the water 100 feet from the back of the boat by pumping the rod there is no difference. IMO
  11. Long lines, you better bring that new ride of yours next year:)
  12. Any recommendations? Looking to get a few small things fixed on the boat.
  13. I have always had positive or comical meetings with the CO. I look at it as they are just doing their job. I can not fault them for that. I guess I would rather have them check me than not check. At least I know they are doing their job.
