  1. Awesome...I gotta get down there sometime....Looks like a blast
  2. Exactly. Tried them when they came out and tore em up on walleye. Had a couple big ones i picked up for salmon and it wasnt long and they were clunkin'. I like my Daiwa, Penns and Shimanos....Also, another vote for tunas drags...SWEET
  3. That sounds like a great spot. Wish we had more creeks locally that were huntable this time of year. A friend in SW Michigan had a similar spot and did well both days. Funny they waited till you got to the truck. They sure know how to time it. Same with geese...Slow morning, just get the truck in the field and start pickin up dekes. Wont be long and youll hear a honk with birds overhead.
  4. No, i didnt make it out. Everything pretty much locked up over here with the exception of the hot ponds and portions of the bay accessible only by airboat. Havent seen any geese in weeks or ducks. Coulda hunted the hot ponds, but didnt want to get in that mess of guys.Thered definitely be some birds there. Have read allot of reports and the boys in Southern Michigan put the hurts on em. LOTS of great mallard shoots, a few geese. Some guys pounded on the divers too. Lots of Cans, Reds and Bills.....Oh so jealous. I got in a care wreck and my vehicles totaled, so it didnt matter anyhow. Couldnt have got down state if i wanted to. Nice job by the way. Had to be nice to have some whistling wings around again. Sounds like a fun hunt to be sure...I cant wait for October.
  5. I heard good things from a guy about the Kill Zone. He said when your setting up the first wall your supposed to anchor it in high winds. Also, supposed to have the corner into the wind when setting up....IDK...im still a flip over shack fellow.
  6. Could be. They definitely get spooky when the ice is clear like that. Ecspecially if you dont sit still.
  7. Sure is a bunch of B.S. if you ask me. Times are bad enough in our state and this is just another thing to dip into the little money people have. Sad.
  8. Look good to me Ken...What camera did you use? I just got a new digital. Got a Sony Cybershot DSC-55H. 14.1 MP, 10X zoom, 25 mm wide screen w/35mm format. Seems to be a real nice camera. Does video, panoramic mode etc. Screens nearly as big as the back of the camera. Nice small size too. Great for hunting or on the boat as it packs away nicely. One of the first pics i took with it in the field.
  9. Welcome aboard Adam. Youll definitely fit in here....GREAT intro
  10. I have walkers, but theyre going for vectors. Trax tech is coming out with the riggers since they aquired them from Vector. Smoothest rigger ive ever used. Fast, pulls allot of weight, well built, low profile. Fished them extensively on my buddies boat. AWESOME Riggers I have walkers currently. They work fine, but are slow, cant pull over 12# weights. Other than that, good riggers.
  11. I found no substitue for weight. Go with a 14# round ball or a torpedo style. Of course, if you have Electric DR make sure they can pull the weight your asking it to...If they cant, go as heavy as you can. I wouldnt go any lighter than 10#
  12. Most guys use 27# and up to 10 colors. You can go more if you wish, but after 10 colors, most guys go to copper. More depth for less line. Dont forget your gonna want a couple hundred yards of backer on there. I run 30# Power Pro as backer on my lead core set ups. For my 45# copper i run 50# power pro as backer. In both instances i run a 20# leader to my bait. That way if somethign breaks its likely the leader and not the backer or core/copper......Penn 330 GTi works great for 10 color.
  13. Open water, whats that?!?!?!?!....Nicely done and a Merry Christmas to you and yours.
  14. 8" SD with a 22" from tip of loop to bend in rear hook works great for me off the wires. Without a doubt this is the most effective spot in my spread for these...I have better luck on my riggers with the paddles.
  15. This off of Big Sable Point Strait out From Ludington
  16. Its pretty darned detailed. I can snap some shots of it and show you if youd like.
  17. Heres the link http://www.lakemap.com/gpsfishingmaps-humminbirdwisconsin.aspx
  18. Im not sure. If you go to the Lakemaster site they have example of the maps for hummingbird, lowrance, garmin:thumb:
  19. Don t know about Navionics, but i just got the Lakemaster Michigan chip for my garmin and am very pleased with the detail. The detail on Lake Michigan is awesome. My Chip covers all of Lake Michigan.
  20. I like the outside rod longer, but you can use the same length. Have done both and prefer the longer. Easier IMO to reset the outside diver rod. I run the Daiwa Heartland Roller Rods in 8'6 and then a pair of braid divers on the outs that are 9' 6". Works great. My Rod holders are 12" on center and i run the outside rod slightly higher than the inside. That way theres no chance it could ever get into the other rod.
  21. Merry Christmas to you as well. Enjoy the white christmas.
