  1. That's Awsome, what a great day when you get a board back!
  2. Jim I think you may be in the wrong sport my friend. If your not willing to spend some money then you should'nt play. If 72 bucks is all you spent thats getting away cheap. The WMFL is a fun league and you should know that your not going to get rich fishing in it. As far as the 6 rods go its to keep it fair for the guys that only have 1 buddy fishing and I think thats what keeps people comming. If your interested in making a living fishing than you need to join up with the big boys and fish the Tournament Trail. Somethimes I think that these should be beer leagues with no money pools so that everyone can enjoy themselves and maybe a few side bets between friends.
  3. Nice to see theres some fish left to be had, I think things will pick up from here....Nice Job!
  4. Nice job, its slim pickins out there. I did see some bait fish schooling out in about 30fow while perchin yesterday. I would of loved to troll back to the piers and see what would happen but we were afraid of catching a cigarette boat. Those guys need lessons on boating I seen them run by a guy perchin at full throttle at a distance of about 20ft.
  5. Nice Job Jarod. Good catch and release tactic! I'll bet those waders are good and broke in now.
  6. Larry sorry to hear your loss. Was it stolen in Gobles? I go through there on my way back and forth to work I will keep my eyes peeled. Was it one of those silver honda outboards?
  7. Once you go Blacks you never go back!
  8. My Dad went to that lake and stayed at the Esnagi Lodge last year at the same time. They took the train instead of the fly in option. He said next time they will do the fly in cause you get more time to fish. He went with his brothers and they plan on going back soon. I just hope they drag me along next time. Great Pics!!
  9. Jeff, this is all great advice. I have a Mercruiser 260 in my boat probbably what you have in yours. I have ajusted my timing, replaced my shift cable and gone through the carb ordeal. To me it sounds like you have an air leak at the carb.. Don't adjust the idle air screws that carb should of been flow tested and set if it was rebuilt at a reputable carb place. You may have either the wrong carb gasket or a leak in the one you have. This may be you high idle prob. Also your shift issue sounds fixable Your cables are just out of ajustment along with your engine cut out switch. Here is a link on how to adjust it that helped me out. You need a few people to help but it will get you in the ball park for before a water test. http://www.sterndrives.com/supplies/mdtips02.html Your timing issue to me sounds like you need to check your plugs wires and cap n rotor to make sure all is well like what Tad pole said. I am major busy this summer but I may be able to help you out some evening and get this wipped so you don't need to dump any more coin into shady mechanics. I am no pro but I have gone through alot of what you are going through.
  10. Yep that was me, I was on the trailer and out like a bandit before the kids freaked out at the launch. Plus I was HUNGRY.
  11. Whats your boat doing? I do alot of work myself except for some of the work needing the $10,000 special mercruiser tools. Sometimes you put a couple of people together with fresh ears can track down wierd noises or have been there done that on other mechanical stuff.
  12. As you all know the summer lull has hit alot of us southern lake michigan fisherman. With that in mind this weekend was dedicated to showing the wife and kids a great time on the lake. A friend was kind enough to lend his boat slip to the family and I for the weekend so we took advantage. We salmon fished a few hours Sat night with intention of hitting the 300ft range. Well, we made it to 245fow and turned around. We finally hit a steelie on a 3 color at 195ft and the wife was whipping the rod around trying to figure out what to do with the planer board and we watched that steelie flip a few times and say good bye. Then at the 140ft mark we landed a BEAUTIFUL lake trout. The kids loved that! After a great night sleeping on the boat we left the dock at 8 am and set lines in 140ft. I foul hooked a fish on the 7 color and couldnt get it to the boat before tearing it a new one. A little while later the 5 color blasted off and my wife tryed to get it under control and couldnt make it happen. Sooo after 2 hours we gave up and decided to drift for perch. We napped and drifted for perch for a few hours in 30-25fow and managed to get 8 nice ones. All in all we enjoyed ourselves out there and was a great weekend of boating............ Lures that kinda worked- old stained watermellon lure for the laker Flys that worked- Nothing Trolling speed- 2.8-4.8mph Perch lures- Minnows
  13. The super tramp outfished the 2UNREEL this spring. I think sometimes the smaller boats can give you the stealth approach sometimes and just outright fun during a firedrill. Before my current boat, I had a 17ft Sylvan Fiberglass ski boat. I converted it to slam salmon on the weekend and tubing on the inland lakes during the week. That was a stable boat that you could stand on the gun wals or take 2ft waves no problem. The gas tank was in the center of the boat below deck and the sides were up just past the knees when standing in the boat. The hull design was very good for stability. I would suggest test driving any boat before you buy it. Some are potential death traps for the great lakes.
  14. OUCH!!!! Get better soon dude. I hope they catch them...thats horrendious. We will keep your informed on the fishing and when your ready just hollar and we will get you going again.
  15. Thank you Don for the copper update. You and all the others have persuaded me to start spending more money. Maybe there is a mid summer seminar somewhere I can win some more copper!!! I am still in the testing phases and not 100% convinced yet but it is good to give them someing else to look at. I do like being able to get down deeper with it.
  16. The fishing was slow, I had some reports from 4 other boats that morning. 3 got skunked and 1 released a greaser.....I would have liked a coho for the grand slam.... Maybe next weekend things will pick up.
  17. Diesel if your heading out of SH shoot me a PM a day or two before and see If I'll be out and we can link up and find em. If your on the water hail 2UNREEL on 68, I am usually out once or twice a weekend. I also know alot of people that go out of there that can help.
  18. Started the day trolling at 7:00am with a new friend from the new job needing some salmon pointers for his boat. So we started 70ft and did some circles to figure out the current and wound up heading SW into Deeper water. Took nice steelhead on the slider right off the bat on an NBK. Next took a Brown on the ??Ft copper rod with a carmel dolphin... Dragged it for who knows how long. After hitting 200ft of water and not marking anything we turned around and headed back in. Next took a nice jumping steelie on a 3 color with a Silver Streak mixed veggie. Then pulled a small king on a 10 color greasy chicken wing . We ended the day back in 67fow with the fish finder lit up from top to bottom. I am not sure if it was a carp convention or what but we took our bigger king 125back on the wire with a spindoctor and fly then nothing else would go. Ended the day at 2:00pm 5 for 6..... 2 Steelhead, 1 Brown, 2 kings....My wifes b-day and I had a strickt time schedule:eek:
