  1. My father and I are all signed up and will be there with pen and paper, I can't wait. I hope to learn a few things I didn't know and refresh me on some things I may have forgotten.
  2. I almost lost my dad to a salmon net once. A tangled mess of lures in the hand and lines running to a downrigger ball that hooks an unmarked or very poorly marked net on the Wisconsin side about 18 years ago. If it wasnt for my quick reaction of grabbing him by his ankles and a knife in my pocket he would have been a gonner. I hope to check out that seminar and learn about the nets cause honestly they scare the crap out of me.
  3. I think that its wonderful. The more divisions the more opportunity to place and win. I'm with you caznik those of us that have 17 footers will stick with the league.
  4. Sounds like both you guys have some grounding issues. Sleds tend to get corroded and so the voltage tends to float cause it doesnt have anywhere to dissapate to. (paulywood) You probbably have a bad kill switch or connection to the kill switch. (Mark) You probably have a bad ground at the light where the bulb meets the connector or somewhere someone down the line cut or pinched the wires leading to the light. If the voltage regulator is bolted to the frame make sure that there is a good connection to ground(frame there).
  5. The Skamania Steelhead are radicle. BUT The river brown trout pound for pound are insaine fighters. I havent caught enough of Lake Michigan browns to really compare to the Kings and Steelies.
  6. Heard a charter captain in Key West say to a guy on the other side of the boat "Don't be shy let it fly" . My wife and I took the cheap wal-mart stuff 2 hours before the trip, we were fine. This was the first time I ever paid for a charter and I wasn't taking any chances. Poor guy had a rough 3 more hours. !Caution! drinking rum and coke on that stuff WILL knock you out
  7. Do you know if you get a nice grab bag with the seminar?
  8. I have the aqua vu with the cam rigger kit. This is the camera nature vision had before they switched to the fish bodies. I tried using it hooked up to my dads downrigger that only had a 10lb cannon ball and it blew back so far I think the lure was plaining the surface. I have yet to try it on my boat with a 12lb shark cannon ball. However I have used it several times perch fishing and I got to tell you there is nothing like it. You can see 12-25ft distances in 30-50 fow and it is amazing. If I drop the camera and see nothing but gobies I am in the wrong spot. When you see a school of millions of perch swim by it is a sight to see. I also exclusivly use the camera ice fishing and that is also a whole new world. Never much liked the vexlars, however in merkey dark water they have advantages or vision.
  9. I did alot of experimenting with my speeds this last year. My gauge findings were so spurratic that I'm not sure what to believe. I purchased a sub-troll 900 last fall and only got a chance to use it one time and I'm not even sure it was reading right. I always started the day by calibrating my speed to a dipsey diver with a spindoctor at the surface. With the rod in the rod holder, I watched the spindoctor untill it rotated once per second. Then I noted the bend in my rod. Once I knew how the rod needed to look to achieve good rotation of the spindoctor I let the line out to where I wanted and adjusted my boat speed to get the rod bend right. This method presented excellent results. I was adjusting throttle speeds all the time but it payed off. Next year I will calibrate my expensive equipment and have it tell me what I need to do, but I always have a back-up plan.
  10. Todays technology in vinyl graffix are UV resistant and last longer than some of the ones they use to have. And I would think it would be alot more cost effective than hiring an artist unless you know a good one. I custom ordered my reg numbers and boat name and it was only like 35-40$. I can send you a link if you want.
  11. Here is are images of what the shirts will look like. It seems like a good deal they will ship to me for $21 a piece.
  12. I would love some decals also. I was wondering if you would be opposed if I made T-shirts for me and my crew for the league this summer and had a modified version of the fish logo with the league name on it. The shirt would probbably have the website plugged on it too.
  13. Sounds like a blast...How many boats were there last year? Is this just advertised here on GLF or is this pretty big? Doesnt really matter to me just curious..... Sign Me Up Andrew
  14. The first time I was fishing I was in diapers probbably fishing Blue gill. I don't remember much but my dad had a blue shirt he always wore when he took me fishing and it looked like he was shot with a 12ga because of all the holes from cutting hooks out of it.
  15. Hands down the Dreamweaver Pickled Sunshine Fly
  16. I don't think I formerly introduced myself since I started posting a few weeks ago for those of you I meet you can call me Andrew or Andy I can go either way.
  17. Sign Me Up, Team UNREEL will be ready. Will we get more info on where to meet and such later?
  18. If I sign the UNREEL up for the league and I fish off my buddies or my fathers boat for unforseen reasons in one of the tournaments do I still qualify to be in the tournament? And is there any boat size requirements?
  19. I will have to check it out I have never been to one of there tackle days
  20. Looks to me that those colors and that pattern is a winning combination. Like the other guys said you can't hardley go wrong. The important thing here is the name...it has to be catchy
  21. I accually live 2 miles east of pullman, I am on the southern most tip of the Allegan State Game Area on 109th and 50th. Sounds like there are a few of us that live pretty close.
  22. I have quite the collection of lures and rods plus my old mans boat and his 30 years of tackle collecting. I try to keep things simple but effective when I'm out there fishin. I live about 15 min away from South Haven in Pullman. I am very interested in fishing in the league, what thread do I go to to read about all that is involved or who do I need to talk to? I have read some about it already. I love a little competitive fun.
  23. Here is my rig for now, I wan't to upgrade soon but for now she does the trick. I found this boat on ebay one day with 2 hours left on the auction. The description was very poor so I called up the owner. The guy told me all he did to it and nothing was in the decription for that. He told me if no one bidded on it he would take less for the boat. After the auction ended with no bids I called him up and he said he would take $1200 for it and I told him I would be there friday. The boat, engine and trailer had all pretty much been rebuilt. Pretty much all I had to do is rig it for salmon and go. I found this boat to me being almost unreal hense the name "UNREEL" The UNREEL is set up with 2 fishlander electric downriggers, Sub-Troll 900 sensor, Bottom Line fishfinder, and lowrance gps. I run 2 dr rods, 2 diver rods, and 2 lead lines off this boat and last year managed to boat 14 fish in 6 trips with one 2-man limit day.
