  1. SWEET. I cant wait to hit the water saturday. I dont know what channel you monitor but ive tried you on 10 with no resopose. I know you by satisfaction Gaurenteed on the site but cant remember your first name.
  2. nice catch. dirty dog . Did you here any reports of silver fish?
  3. I think the eatery your talking about was called Pagozies. It was in a B&B type building on the north beach and is now closed. But your right about clemantines. Good food. I want to try the vinyard across from the thirsty perch. A note on the Thirsty perch. Worst meal and one of the priceist ive ever had. Tried it once did not like it and went back the weekend of the pro am. Thought I would give it a second chance. I wont give it a third.
  4. I feel bad for you guys as When I was younger we use to come up to instalaunch for the whole month of aug with my dad. I wanted to make a trip up this aug but from the reports im reading about nets Im a little gun shy as the last time I was out of manistee was 1990. thanks for the info
  5. Wow that is were the little wify of 16 years and I went on our first date. It was a blind date that I did not want to go on but My mother made me. i was hung over as It was the year i graduated high school and the month of june to boot and there were parties everywhere. we went swimming at the north beach and there were 2 to 3 footers that day and a big wave came up and swept off here top. I quick dove under water and started laughing my head off and bubbles were comming up around me and when I came up so she did not see me laughing she asked if I was ok as from all the bubbbles she thought I was drouning. I told her that storie about 3 years ago when my at the time 6 year old son asked how I met mom. We have not been together for 19 years.
  6. Will be putting the silver one Back in the water at south haven on 7-7. Been out of the water now for almost 5 weeks. Will be nice to get back in the game for the summer fall finally. Been reading reports on multiple sites and have not seen alot for south haven but the few I have read have been postitive and sounds like the silver fish are moving back in. So with that just curious howmany call south haven there home port? as I do along with St. Joe.
  7. That looks similar to the rigs they use on those hand line rigs they use on the detroit river for walleye. How well do they work?
  8. Isnt that the same Idea behind Cow Bells bumping bottom for lakers? Which ive done and is an efective way to catch slow summer lakers.
  9. Frank hit the nail on the head. A good dishsoap with detergent is about the best thing as this happend to my dads old Sea Eagle back in the early 80's and dawn was the only thing that broke it up. You can use a degreaser but use caution as most degreasers are corrosive to Aluminum. It will say on the lable is it is or is not.
  10. If he is fishing out of manistee then it is not that far. as the shelf is close out of that port. You can be in 500' of water in no time out of manistee. Been a few years since ive been up there. I plan on taking an August trip up there this year as the kings are usually Big and alot of them up there.
  11. Starting to read a few good reports for silver fish out of southhaven. July has always been a great month over there for silver fish and perch. They will be here and looking at my log book it is always around the 3 week of july for perch and for kings and steelhead. Have not had the silver one in since May 31. Got her out of the barn yesteday and got it all cleaned and reorganized from a May frenzy of fishing. I even got my wife to voluntarily clean the inside of the boat out. Woo Hooo. Finally getting the itch to go again. Next trip is planned for July 7. See ya on the water.
  12. Check out Bretts place on ebay. He is a complete tackle store with awsome prices and will set up any type of rod real combo you want. He did my core set ups and my wire dipsey set ups for me and for what he charged to do it I could not go and buy the stuff myself and set them up for what he charges. I even have my own power spooler and still could not beat the price. He sells Just about every brand and runs great specials on Okuma. He will also give you his Home phone so you can speak directly to him and tell him exactly what you want without typing it out.
  13. River Rat Ive never fished for muskey however I Am very interested in this sport. IF you get some pics I would love to see them. I think muskey is the only native fish of michigan I have not caught. Someday when time permits im going to take a muskey charter out of lake St.Clair
  14. looking at my log books for the last 3 years out of southhaven it has been exacly the middle of the 4th week of june to the 4th week of july that our steelhead catches have been very good. 3rd week of july has been great for kings as well. IM pumped for fall kings. However my wife hates salmon fishing and would rather waste my day fishing perch. She enjoys that. I dont try and talk her into salmon as Im just greatfull she enjoys some kind of fishing. She has caught some salmon. However she did not like realing in the full core.
  15. Nice lookin rig Bob. The Islander is a comfortable boat to fish out of. I really like my Islander. Now you just need to put a bunch of stuff on it.
  16. We have taken 6 fish total for the year on spinnies and flys. Green and white spin doctor with geen strong fly, Mt.Dew spindoctor with a green sea weed by pruple toco. and smoke opti doger with a green ice fly . all leads are 24 to 28 inches behind the spinnie and 4 of the 6 fish came behind wire dipsey the other two were on downrigger. Ive noticed that fish are fussy when fishing flys and spinnies. speed is crucial and if you are running over 3mph on the sub troll you are two fast and if you are below 2.5 mph on the sub troll you are two slow. Atleast on my boat I cant speek for everyone elese.
  17. Im not a modertator however I am a good friend of the guy who built this site so on behalf of GLF and other members of this site " Welcome" always glad to see our younger generation getting into sport fishing as we need as many as we can get to keep this fishery we have " the greatest in the world" going>
  18. The silver one more than likely wont be back in the water untill around the end of june to the first of july. We have been having a blast catching BIG Crappies out on gun lake the last couple of weeks. and a week from tomarrow we leave for our anual U.P. week of pan and walleye and pike fishing, So no silver fish for a few weeks but fishing is in our future to say the least. Hope everyone tears them up. We will see you all on the water in july as I always have great fishing out of st. joe and southhaven for steelhead and perch.
  19. We have taken fish on dipseys with Flashers and flies running 48" flourocarbon leaders and we have also taken fish on spoons behind the dipseys with the same lead lenght and one of my hottest set ups has been Green dipsey with green snubber and Mongoose J Plug with a 60 inch leader as I can get away with this as my wire dipsey rigs are 10'. Dipseys are hit or miss. We have found in our case if were runnning alot of surface lines. lead core etc. we wont have hardly any dipsey action. When it is rough out like in the tournement two weeks ago we ran our riggers with dipseys set on 3, 200' to 260 back and no lead core as my boat is only 8' wide so I could not use board in 4 to 5 footers and run consistantly. When we went to this presentation Dipseys were the only thing we had hits on.
  20. did not get to meat you John but glad to see a familiar name gave the Best chance boys a run for there money.
  21. Ended up 38 not 34 I just saw the results, just wanted to clarify:rolleyes:
  22. Had a great four days in South Haven this past weekend for the steelheaders tournement. Started out slow on thursday as I have not fished in a while continously and did not have a good idea where to start so we went south and out to 130 and went 2 for 3 bolth kings on wire dipseys and spin doc and flys 210 and 220 back before the wind blew us off. Changed up and went deep on friday and Moosekey and I limited out on friday morning and ended up 12 for 16 with a mixed batch of kings, cohos, steelhead and laketrout. one laker weighed approx 15lb on the hand held scale of the boat. So we found the fish and headed right out for tounement morning sat. went 10 for 10 sat morning of the tournement releasing 2 undersized fish and weighed in 8. Sunday made it out to 150 before the seas were roaring hard enough that we had to turn back so never made it out to were I wanted to be. Hot setups were bloody nose silver streak on a fullcore, Stinger Jawbreaker on the full core. Dreamweaver blue dolphin on the regger 66 down and 24' back. Stinger Kivorkian 42 down on the rigger and 30 back and silver streak holograph monkey puke 54' down and 40 back on the rigger. Full core was the hotest of the setups. Bloodynose more hits early and the jawbreaker was bette later in the morning. Great tournment I think we ended up 34 out of 126 boats in the amature division. Good job on driving the boat moosekey, even with one arm you did a great job. Hope that cast comes off soon.
  23. Good point bob. What people dont realize is that all of our oil comes from the same suppliers and if you research it on the internet. you will find that exon mobile supplies over 80% of all the fuel in the country. I would like to boycot them to but you might better boycot our great american beuracracy called the us government. There running the show. Exon Mobile is just taking advantage of what the government is allowing them to do. Just like the banks and just like insurance companines. The only difference between the Mofia and the government is the Mofia used guns pointed at your head to take your money and the government just calles it against the law and threatains to throw you in jail if you dont give them your money.
