  1. When I use my big boards for walleye we run 2.4 to 3.0 SOG. Quite hot for eyes. Also, I use inlines My dual boards don’t track very well below 1.8 let alone down to 0.3. Good luck.
  2. Welcome. A lot of good info and reports here. Happy belated Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas. Dan in Jackson, Mi. I fish Lac Mich April to June n August to Oct; Erie West Basin May, June n July.
  3. Agree. My Offshores have been converted with OR18 releases also. If somehow you lose a board don’t forget to put your name n phone number on it. Someone might return it. This summer a guy called me the next day that he found my Church walleye board in Erie west basin.Told him thanks for the call and to keep the board and lure. He said the fish was still on but lost it at the boat. Maybe should have paid him to ship it to me. Might have had a specially painted expensive Bandit on it.
  4. I see a few people talking about running dipseys on a board. Doesn’t make sense. Like stated above dipseys, especially on 3, get out away from the boat. Also, not sure you need to spend $50+ for the bigger inline boards. I use standard Offshore boards with up to 300 copper and full core with no problem. My friend even uses Church walleye boards for up to 300 copper and full core. I was surprised but they track pretty good. He just moves the weights to the back. My 2 cents.
  5. Thanks Dennis. Fish cleaning station was awesome. We were hoping we’d get a chance to use it.
  6. 4 for 4, 3 lakers and coho. Oldest son flew in from Colorado so we could stay at the SoHa lake house.and fish. Blown off yesterday, set lines 9 today, 124-134’ all the hits; 2 lakers on CJ GOC reg size spoon on rigger down 61, coho on rv Moonshine flounder pounder glow spoon on dipsey out 160’, 13lb 13oz laker on 300 copper on green reg Moonshine glow spoon. Speed 2.5-3.Sog; all hits nw troll. Nice lazy 1-3s.
  7. I use standard Off Shore boards but change the release to an R18 and I use a snap swivel in the. back release. I pull full core and 300’ copper w/ no problems. My friend uses Church Walleye boards and I was surprised that they work so well for full core and 300’ copper. But, he did move the weights all the way back to help them track better.
  8. Yep, Crazy. I’m a min of 2 hrs to St Joe or SoHa and a little longer to Holland, GH, and Muskegon. And, some mates are 1/2hr from my house. So even if we leave at 0500 we don’t set lines until 7:30 or 8. But, in St Joe it didn’t matter; the bait fish weren’t thick yet, and kings were on the hunt all day. Monroe Brest Bay Erie walleye Tuesday ( 1 1/2hrs only from Jackson), week in Co to visit oldest son n his family and back to Erie for crew that won a fishing trip on my boat during a charity auction. Then salmon 1st week in July. SoHa? Maybe Holland or
  9. Tarry I think you are correct; get out early before that eat too much bait and have lockjaw.
  10. Good job. Bet boys had a ball. Looks like we were fishing way too shallow yesterday morning. Deepest we went out was 140’. Going out Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning. Will have to watch reports. Day before they were in 80-120. You never know.
  11. The black n white kitty is still stinking up the boat. Fished 70’-140’ no hits, no runs no errors. Had eight lines out including 1 meat rig (CJ King glo frog) and dragon slayer flasher and bull frog Howie fly, and no hits. About 25 boats out with us most of the morning n heard of only one steelie caught in 120’ and didn’t see any nets get wet. Guy at launch had 1 laker and 1 king they caught in 140’. Beatiful day on kake Michigan!
  12. Hmmmm crazy fish; in St Joe mags worked better. Maybe smaller alewives in GR.
  13. Thks, how long a wait to retrieve your boat with all rec people coming out?
  14. Great job n great report. Regular Moonshine spoons or UV and RV? .Your neighbor Tarrey sai you were out yesterday. Was launch criweded when you retreived? How is water level at city launch docks. It’s been going up n down lately. We are goin out Friday.
  15. I have had one for a few years, but never hooked it up; it just looked like a pain; so Josh said he had two that he brought. Most of the morning he had a 100’ lead; about 11:30 I asked him to shorten it to about 50’.Shortly threafter we caught a nice king. Think I’ll hook mine up! We had no rain yesterday which surprised me from what I saw on the radar at 0500 on TV in Jackson.
  16. Went 10 for 14, 8 kings, coho n a dink coho that went back. Fished 92-103fow straight out and a few miles north of pier heads. 2-3s all day out of NE, 9 hits north troll, rest east, 2.5-3.0sog. 8 fish on CJohn’s Goc Magnum, 1 coho on rigger slider on Goc regular. Mag Whammy, ruv blue flounder, uv gr dolphin and uv like a mixed veggie and similar with blue stripe instead of green. Every pole, except my reg dipsey took fish: 5 1/2 and 10 colors, 200 and 300’ copper; riggers down 47’ and 54’ with 48’ leads: slide diver 147’ out with 50’ lead (about 47’ down). Great day on Lac Michigan!
  17. Good job Tarrey. Your doctored spoons worked well. I’ll have to get some more stick paint n doctor up some of my NBKs like yours. When we were fishing next to you we were getting frustrated with no hits but as soon as we passed u in 111 we got one on and we worked 121’ area as well. We are doing St Joe again early next week. Get ‘em Saturday! Lost a few spoons yesterday, so just replenished them with an order to Capt John King.
  18. Went 5 for 7; all kings 8-18lbs. 1 in 86’, 2 in 111’ and 2 in 121’. 1st was on rigger 47’ back n 47’ down on CJKing Gold Or Crush. Dipsey on 3 out 150’ and 10C same spoon. Rigger down 50’ 50 lead GOC spoon again. 300 copper w/2color swr with mag nbk gr/spoon took one. lot of nice fish at fish cleaning station!
  19. I agree with Mega Byte, not sure why you would put a dipsey on a board and not sure a board could handle the force. Dipsey holder should be parralell to the water. I don't have them, but the holders you can ratchet up before you remove remove the dipsey rod are awesome. Rod trees are the greatest invention since sliced bread. For up to 300' of copper and full core I use standard Off Shore boards. They track just fine. My friend even uses the Church walleye board for up to 300 copper and full core n they surprisingly track well; he did move the weight all the way back though. Your setup looks real good. Enjoy!!!!!!
