  1. Glad to see it's not just me. I've been trying to reset my password and reinstall with no success. Was hoping it was a system issue and not just my inability to operate a smartphone.
  2. Thanks for taking me out bob. I grabbed a picture of the scale. 17 lb 10 oz. Sent from my SM-G935V using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App

  6. New in box single dual axle rod holder. List online for 89, selling for 75 or reasonable offer. Located in Grand Rapids Sent from my SM-G935V using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  7. What did it set you back and how long were you without the boat? Sent from my SM-G935V using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  8. Does anyone have a person or company they recommend working with to have a boat cover made? I have a 21' walk around with an arch and want to have something made to fit that is good quality. I'm in Holland area, so grand rapids area would be most ideal but open to other spots if someone has and strong recommendation. Sent from my SM-G935V using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  9. I bought the tube file box and don't really like it. Hard to get the fly and leader stuffed into them. It's turned into a box of my least used flies or back ups. My hot flies all stay attached to their respective flasher wound around a pool noodle. All of them get tossed into a bin together. Sent from my SM-G935V using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  10. Tackle Boxes, Bins or Other Over the years I've evolved from using exclusively tackle boxes to just tackle bags to where I am currently, which is a combination of tackle boxes but mostly clear bins with clear snap on lids that I got from Costco. I have a bin for dispey's, a bin for flashers, bins for meat rigs, bins for the rigs I'm planning to use on my next trip (go to flasher/fly combo and spoons), bin for planer boards and a bin with laker gear. All of my spoons and plugs go into a special mate divided bin and then last but not least I have a tackle box with terminal tackle, extra line, batteries, spare parts for down riggers, etc.. When I get ready to go fishing it consists of loading whatever bins I will need for that trip. I feel somewhat organized, but I'm curious if anyone else does it a different way that they have found works well for them. It's that time of year that I'm going through my gear and always looking to become more organized and efficient, yet I'm the typical fisherman that tends to want to bring every possible lure/rod combo under the sun JUST IN CASE!
  11. One coming up in Holland as well. https://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/fishing-hunting-outdoors/index.php?/topic/40944-Swap-meet Sent from my SM-G935V using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  12. My loss last year was a clean break about 2 feet above terminator. I'm thinking kink but didn't notice it. This year I had 1 break at ball after I moved it down a few feet and the one last weekend was a break at the water surface with ball down 90. I use the cannon connections and snubbers.. must be kinks I'm not seeing. Sent from my SM-G935V using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  13. I've had 2 cannon balll break-offs this year and had 1 last year as well. I bought my riggers brand new in 2013 and have not replaced the cable before, I just keep putting new parts on where they break. Wondering how many of you change out your cable on a regular basis and also what you are using for replacement cable.
  14. Anyone have a recommendation for a charter out of Ludington or Manistee? I'm going in two weeks and want to go out on a charter that will be open to teaching while we fish. Sent from my SM-G935V using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  15. Nice catch. That "steelhead" looks an awful lot like a king to me. No? Sent from my SM-G935V using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  16. Do a haywire twist on both pieces just like you would if tieing to a swivel. You can shrink wrap the connection if you want to, I would think it won't matter much either way. Sent from my SM-G935V using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  17. I had a good size boat almost capsize me yesterday driving by me and coming within about 20 yards of me. It won't be the last time, some folks just don't care. Sent from my SM-G935V using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  18. The wife agreed to let me pick another port to stay at and fish from at the end of August for my birthday. Wondering what you all think would be my best option. Michigan waters only, targeting salmon. I'm thinking Manistee, where would you go? Sent from my SM-G935V using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App

  20. I have a 9.9 yamaha 4-stroke for my 21 WA and it works well. I think a 15 might do better though as there are some cases that I feel the 9.9 has to work too hard. I can slow to an absolute crawl if I need to which you would still get with the 15. Sent from my SM-G935V using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  21. Gotcha, makes sense. I thought you said you were trying to get to the bottom in 100 FOW. Sent from my SM-G935V using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  22. Everyone needs to figure out what works for them and how to catch fish but just to help you think big picture if your trying to get down deep for Lakers with lead core and lipped stick baits, you might get down but what everyone else was saying is you might want other baits (spin n glows, cow bells, etc.). Now to think big picture, if you put spin n glows behind cow bells and run it on a lead core you will have a huge rig with a pretty good amount of drag behind your lead core. The more drag you have, the shallower your presentation will run. Im just estimating but with a 10 color pulling that setup I would estimate you'll run between 30-45 feet deep, maybe a touch deeper if you go slow. I'm not trying to ruin your plan, but it might save you some time and headache to think that piece through some more before you buy a bunch of tackle. Maybe invest in a fishhawk td so you can see how deeo your getting. Learn from our mistakes [emoji106] Sent from my SM-G935V using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  23. You'll want a different reel with different lengths of leadcore. What I suggest if you have limited reels is to make a shorter length like 2 or 3 colors and then a longer length like 7 or 8. Then you can buy one spool of line (full core/10 colors) and get two setups out of it. You can use the shorter lengths for running on inline planer setups shallow, but it can also double as an SWR off your downrigger to get that stealth approach down deeper. Leadcore isn't a one size fits all, but shorter sections will give you more flexibility since you can always go "deeper". If you have a 10 color your only option to stay shallower is to run it right off the back of the boat and only let out some of the line. Another option is using shorter sections and adding a swivel between your leadcore and mono backing. Then hook a weight to it, just gets you deeper but hard to do that behind boards. Short term I suggest starting small because it allows you more versatility. Long term you'll end up with more reels with different amounts of leadcore... It just happens. 24. Shakedown trip Saturday morning out of Holland. Started heading south in about 30 FOW and worked from 30-50 working in and out with no takers. Plenty of marks. Eventually worked out to 60 and then turned back in and worked shallows down to 20 FOW. Still nothing. Picked up and ran out to 100 to try for lakers and had a couple marks but no luck. Threw everything but the kitchen sink at them, maybe next time. I am curious though since I've heard guys catching some are you running your body baits clean on mono or using something to get them down like lead or DR? I tried both but was also using some attractors with flies which I'm thinking I could have done without. Lastly for guys running spin n glows for lakers with luck are you using dodger or flasher of any kind or running clean behind a DR? Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  25. Enjoy the extra space and ability to get out there in larger waves! Great looking boat. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
