Nice report. The SW wind really helped set things up. Even at Frankfort tackle shops have been saying they hear people talk about no fish, but its not so.
-
Trina said his friends are doing it. We have done it in a 27 ft sportcraft. A lot of the tournament fisherman do it all the time. With the right boat and decent weather its not a big deal.

The DNR is also talking about stocking herring. So hey, if those alewfies did die off... Herring wouldn't be so bad.. We'd be having so big ole kings just like Lake Ontario. But then again from what I've been told straight from someone who is on the board of the DNR that this year the fish will be bigger, and the alewfie population is rebounding very well, and that the fishing in the next few years should continue to get better. They also plan to stock more kings in the following years. So it is good news. From my view, i think next year were gonna have another big king year. The fishing won't be great, but I think it'll be exactly like 2013. Not very many kings but they have all been hitting the feed. We've seen a good number of large fish that are not the mature 3 year olds who will run this year. As for the alewfies, they appear they've found food to eat too
Did you hear from someone in the DNR they are thinking of stocking herring ? Up here around tc the tribe is actually doing it. I think just in its 2nd year.

Glad you're doing well in the mud in GH. Kill all the ale eaters you can. You're comment about more fish being planted is insane.
Why is that insane ? He is basicly saying the dnr was way off there assessment of the bait population and hence the plants should not have been cut. Bottom line is some places have had some good fishing when conditions are right, there is way more bait than the dnr claims, they need to change where and when they do the trawl samples.

so if i understand you correctly you would have to pick up the board rods and pass the dipsy under/around it ? not sure i have it correct a pic would help. i would try to move the holders around for the board rods and get a couple heavy duty rod holders to mount on the gunnels near the transom for the divers-you will want this even when you have the riggers so may as well do it now.

As said Grand Haven and Musk. pump out lots of warm water, and polution which attracts bait, thats why fish hold around it more, even natural reproduction doesnt have alot to with it, the little man which is very high on that list had next to zero return last year, an all time low return to the wier. As far as charter reports take them with a grain of saly that i there livelyhood and there not gunna post the 1 2 and 3 fish trips, who would want to go. There will be good days but they are few and far between and not near as good as what used to be considered good.
The pictures on there sites tell the story and yes at least these 2 do post the bad along with the good.

I don't know where all the doom and gloom is coming from. Ryan I am sorta doing like you and living through others. Several times a week I google Ludington fishing reports. Freestyle and stowaway charters come up. They both post reports regularly. They have had many fine trips this season. Frankfort has been hit or miss. Some salmon have been cought at Leland off the manitous.

Well I have not been out due to a broken boat. Been playing inland a bit. I sure would not call all the reports (both on and off this site) I have read bad, especially compared to last year.

I am in the same sort of spot, so watching for answers as well. Side note here in tc it went from 2.99 to 2.27 yesterday. On the news a few minutes ago I heard in California the avg. Is now 4.89 refinery problems bla bla bla hopefully it won't come this way.

Yep what the others said. When time there are a number of schools that give the class and test. You also need drug testing program and first aid ,cpr class. It can be a great thing but don't kid yourself its work. When I was a mate it was my second job period.
-
They have been ok, but some north wind Will kill it. Google Ludington fishing reports and raptor and stowaway charters will be in the first couple popups. They both give detailed reports on their sites.

Thanks Ryan I found it. Did not see pm section on here compared to gla. Got it now.

I will be up in Glen Arbor July 13-19...would love to pitch in gas money or take someone who knows where to fish during that week in the Frankfort area.
Sorry but not sure how to pm and don't want to hijack the thread. Fishmarc I live in traverse city and have a broken boat. Will have a pretty open schedule that week. I don't drive but could take bus to Frankfort. If you want to chat let me know. I will figure pm out and send my #

Nice job, thanks for the report.

I don't think you need to worry about stressing the engine. If its going fast enough that you need to slow it down I think you could pile weight on and or pull bigger bags and not worry. Start by posting what size motor and bags you are running. If nobody thinks just going to a bigger bag would help then you need to experiment. I thing one more may do it. See what the cool kids say and report back what worked.

Don't get that down and negative. I got a broken boat and would just love to be out. I have been reading some pretty good reports. A lot of good from Ludington mixed at Manistee and Ludington.

Maybe people (lucky ones) are out fishing instead of on the computer

In the water is the answer. Welcome to the site, you may want to post your location and a few more details ie: Boat or no boat etc for a better response.

Hey tgl just wonder if you think you would have had any hits before the sun came out if you were running standard glow or non glow spoons. I don't have any of the strictly UV, guess I will have to get some.

What temps do you like for kings?
Kinda wondering the same thing. Was surprised at the 53 mention.the standard for years was right about this, then I think we figured out that's what the baitfish like. The kings like it a bit colder. I would run lines from 55 deg. Down to about 45 if I had no marks or other place to start.

Awesome,thanks!
Where would steelhead be now?

Likely in closer. Depends on how cold the water and any breaks and food.
