  1. All of the launch is frozen in and about 20% of the lake. Zoom in the picture to see better, since I almost got stuck at the gate.
  2. 1-4pm with tbutcher, 1 for 2, fished cranks/spoons down the channel around the entrance then headed nw 3mph sog to 60fow..nothing. Turned headed se approx 50 fow had 1st hit small coho at 2:45pm on lime dipsy back 50, set 3 with 12ft lead using slim blue jerry lee spoon w/feathers sw of harbor entrance. 2nd hit lost 25 feet from boat est 5# (steel or coho), on mag green jeans w/feathers on orge slide diver set 2 1/2, back 50', w 30ft lead, 2:58pm, 47 fow 2.9 sog. Lake temp. 48 on top 47.6 bottom. Got too cold to stay much longer. Putting the boat away until spring. Great season, meant alot of nice people being new to the area. Looking forward to an early spring.
  3. Surface temp was 49. Big DR hit was on carmel spoon w/skirt which shook the hook. Little coho was on double glow yellow tail w/skirt. Didn't have ability to read depth\temps today. Great time inbetween 3,4 and occasional 5 ft roller. Lucky, no chop. Lake did finally settle down somewhat 2-3 footers.
  4. I tied it with 210 type red thread. It is also glued during the process. It seems to flare out when I pull it thru my sink basin, but needs a good speed test.
  5. I added a red streamer and copper flashabou to my cyconite spoon. I'll do some other types patterned spoons and see if there is a trend toward the spoon or the pattern on the spoon. Hopefully the winds will die down next week.
  6. Your spoons are nice. It looks like you slipped a small tube over the flashabou once it was added to the treble and cemented it or did you fly tie it on? Did you add any paint on the spoons themselves?
  7. It's a humminbird 998, but all the manufacturers have it with various modules or built into the unit. Before I started fishing, diving and finding shipwrecks was my hobby/passion. I found several major shipwrecks previously undiscovered in the great lakes, from schooners with their masts still standing to old steamers. They ran from 120 ft long to 240 ft. It was fun.
  8. Me too. 1st time on muskegon since we moved here in February. But I did find 3 small boats, remains of a possible schr, wood logs and old dockage superstructure
  9. What was the muskegon lake temp? I was there last Tuesday late afternoon , but the lake was pretty warm yet. Anxious to stock up on my walleye supply before it turns to ice and then do some ice fishing. The gums on the little fish were pretty white, but the tail wasn't quite as square as the typical SH. I'll probably keep hitting the big lake as long as the weather and docks permit, but in the less then better days, I'll be heading for muskegon in the evenings.
  10. Fished 2-5pm, 20ft then 60-115ft, 2 for 1 -1/4, 4.71# Steelhead caught in 20 fow on slide diver, set on 2, back 56ft, with Ed Ganger Glo spoon, 2.3 sog, north troll. 2nd SH (1/4 guy) in 90fow on DR, down 75ft, back 65ft with Double Glo George spoon, sog 2.6 west troll. Released him back into the water. Top temp 54, bottom 53.7. Lake was nearly flat. Used my electric motor to transient dock area. Main motor ran great.
  11. Not a problem, I'll be using my electric trolling motor to get in and out the dock. Should be good fishing tomorrow. Weather is supposed to be great.
  12. There were a few birds, I didn't see them chase the bait. I was too busy trying to unclog my main motor while I was fishing .
  13. Fished 3-4pm, 60ft to 118ft. 1 for 2, steelhead, 3# on a happy meal spoon, in 104fow, on 175ft copper, 2.5 sog, west troll straight out harbor. Water temp 54 on top 53.9 on bottom. Put lines down in 60ft, happy meal was hit once in 85ft when big steelhead jumped 10+ft twice on the air and finally managed to shake the spoon loose and then again when I caught the smaller one in 104. The SH hard 2 small undigested minnows that he upchucked. Trip was short because my outboard got clogged with the launch ramp green slime and I couldn't get it out of the system. I had to run on my backup motor (6hp). I finally cleared it when I came home and flushed it out through the hose port on the outboard. I then ran it with ear muffs to make sure it was functioning correctly. Back out again tomorrow if the weather holds. I think I will he using my electric motor to get away from the dock or anywhere near the dock.
