  1. Removing the wood often challenging losses the battle to a chain fall

    _DSC0009.jpg_DSC0010.jpg

After removal plywood resembled a wet piece of carpet more than a structural component you would want to hange a V6 power plant on let alone push the boat with

    _DSC0011.jpg

We will will be headed to the lumber yard for the proper marine plywood today at least for now the ripping it apart portion of the task is complete

  2. I will be the speaker tonight 3/5/2014 at the lake county fish and game club

  3. Just because it is a aluminum boat does not mean parts can not rot out

This is what's involved in replacing the transom board on a Lund Barron 21'

First you have to remove the motors and the top cap some rivets must be drilled out

    aluminum_boa_realy_001shrunk.jpg

    aluminum_boa_realy_003shrunk.jpg

Then you need to remove splash well boxes to gain access to the top of the bad board

    aluminum_boa_realy_004shrunk.jpg

Wood don't look to bad but it is all delaminates and so soft a screw driver easily is pushed down into it

This one is probably not going to cone out in one piece

  7. well the 2014 Hammond out door show goes into the record books

every one that tried to attend was greeted by terrible parking a flooded and muddy parking lot

but what most people don't know is the whole building was flooded Friday by the melting snow

the down spouts where dumping the water off the roof from the melt off on the ground just out side the building but the snow piled up every where would not let the water get away from the building and the water ran in side

the Hammond park department crew did a great job getting it all cleaned up by Saturday morning when the show opened . but then then did not have time to take care of the parking lots and put up all the signs for the free shuttle buss ect.

    sory about the parking situation

but I wanted to say a big thank you to mark and his crew at the Hammond parks department for working so hard to get the inside cleaned up and ready for the show they certainly worked their butts off

and thank you for all our friends and customers that came and stopped by the calumet marine booth

I think that every one that attended had a good time

  8. Now is the Time to get that major overhaul done

you can save 75% - 50% on what it costs to replace the newer style 4 stoke Out board

lot of dealers will just tell you "its BLOWN" "you need a new motor" truth be told they price the work so high is because they just don't want to work this hard

we are wrapping up out major overhauls to get ready for show season

    think spring !o

its not done until it is toughly test run!

  9. Where's the fricken seat beats I'm thinking that's not APBA sanctioned . Crasy

this is how they do it in Europe

    this is no APBA

but there has actually be very few incidents of critical life threating injury's

it looks like they are going fast but its a much slower than the usa version

all the motors have to be stock production including props some lower unti modification is allowed

APBA allows certain engine modifications that bump the speeds up 50-100% in some situations

we have some great races here in the usa with lots more safety requirements but our speeds are way up from the bumper boat derby's they have on the other side of the pond

check one out this next summer its a blast

  10. Has anyone here ever installed a Garmin GHP 10 on a Lund Pro-V with 150 Hp engine, and 9.9 Hp kicker, or any aluminum boat with outboards for that matter? I'm looking to possibly purchase one for my boat, but wondering if anyone had any experience (good, or bad) using an AP on a small (19') boat. I usually fish with a buddy of mine, and while he's setting lines I'm usually stuck steering the boat. This would make fishing a lot more enjoyable, and probably more productive since I'll be able to help set lines too instead of steering the boat.:(

I probably install more of this model than any other

we usally use the 2.1L pump

I love the zig zag feature for trolling

the hot setting for my boat is 30' every 6 seconds

it steers the boat better than I could ever in rough water or a high speed run out to the spot

    And most importantly when trolling

this unit on my boat makes the steering wheel pretty much obsolete for much other than docking

you will most certainly love this set up !!

  11. Its really nice to have a ten year old boat and the only real thing it needs to make it look as good or some times better than new is some good old fashion elbow grease

the two different boats in the picture above are both around ten years old and have been used quite heavy

we usually apply some shark Hyde sealer to the aluminum after buffing it this will dull the finish a little but will keep the bare aluminum better looking for a lot longer than putting nothing on it

Good old Aluminum polishes up real nice !!

    don't you think?

takes a little time and a lot of elbow grease not a bunch of money

if you had to pay us to do it its about 200 a side to the chine /gunnel

paint and vinyl stickers come clean as well the bare aluminum you can get the scratches out but not on vinyl and paint

  12. be safe out there !

    the water gets pretty cold

PUT SOME RV ANTI FREEZE IN THE BOTTOM OF YOUR BOAT

Q;? what's the best fastest way to get some one that's large and has a bunch of water soaked clothes back into the boat if they fall overboard

A; get them to the back of the motor [with the motor tuned ofF obviously] have them bear hug the back of the motor

tilt the motor up this will get them about half way out of the water it usually is not tough at that point to drag them into the boat over the motor and get them back to shore and into some heat quick!

if you see any ice you need to limit your speed 3/4 of the piece you can see is under the water if its a large weight piece of ice you don't have to be going fast to cause some serious damage

    061.jpg

but it hard to beat the fun of early ice out spring Coho fishing

too many fish not enough hands to hold them all

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THINK SPRING
