  1. I have always done better the in a chop. I have even done very well in gale force winds but make sure someone is driving the boat at all times as the wind can whip the boat around really quick when netting fish.
  2. 190 feet down on the rigger with a spin doctor. 170 down for a spoon. Normally fish much shallower.
  3. I would leave the compartment how it is and disconect the ability to pump water in. I use mine for storage on my boat and water always finds a way in some how. Kind of nice just to let it drain on its own. Plus when you sell the boat it will still have two live wells. I doubt it would be worth cutting it out as your not going to gain much space.
  4. I got mine at the outdoorsman last spring. It worked great! I think lakeshore outfitters had some as well but not positive.
  5. I have made simalar ones without the bead. If you find the really wide blades they work great for crappies. Always fun when others ask you what your using and I get to say you don't have any. Then the guy said he has everything and when I showed him he said your right I haven't ever seen anything like that would you see if there is any fish down my hole.
  6. The spin doctor will come up about 5 feet or so on your copper compared to a spoon if you maintain a straight corse and speed is correct.
  7. I believe they changed or did an upgrade to the site. I had trouble a few weeks ago but had it up the other day. Not too much to see with the lake affect clouds and snow. I will send you the link.
  8. I tried trolling body baits for trout and salmon before with very little luck except last year. I had one body bait on lead core which worked good in the middle of the day. Not sure if I am doing something wrong. I experiment sometimes but when it comes to trying to catch fish I stick with what works for me.
  9. I like blacks and chamberlain. Chamberlains tend to false release if going 3.4 or faster with a paddle. I had trouble with riders on the blacks. I didn't care as much for the chamberlain stackers as they can fall in the lake very easy if not careful.
  10. I run a inline weight ahead of the bait off a rigger when fishing lakers in the rocks. I can get an additional 10 to 15ft below the ball.
  11. Yeah I am also watching the weather trying to deciding whether to go or not.
  12. I tried the 20lb blood run mono last year on a rod and was very impressed after it got in the wire diver and came out fine. I might try a spool I of the tournament blood run line this year. I also use a few different lines but my favorite is 10lb test. A big king can really run then and the fight is much longer.
  13. Fished 3.84 miles east in 20 fow. I went 2 for 8 all but one were walleye and it was something big that almost spooled me. 2 on chrome and pink Swedish Pimple, 2 on green and white moonshine, 4 on homemade jig yellow and green. My dad landed 5 walleye on green and white moonshine and a blue and chrome rappala.
  14. Nice work! Far better than I have ever done up there. What kind of water depth did you fish?
  15. I caught more fish on lead-core this past year than copper. I am wondering if it was just the year. I had a few day where copper worked better than lead-core or the NWR. I still took several fish on the NWR.
  16. I have heard steelhead are in there in the spring. Never heard anything on kings but would think a few would run up it. Also probally not as effective as Holland.
  17. 2 riggers, 2 divers, 2 coppers. Then switch out the rods that are producing least with the ones that are producing the most.
  18. Jim we marked a bunch of fish in 83 fow last night but only found one hungry one. It came on a high diver 140 back. Had a lot of fish look at the riggers and even follow but the wouldn't bite.
  19. I would use smaller rods for the divers if you are going to run more then 4 divers. You want the wire divers on the inside and the mono outside on the longer rod. You might also run power pro instead of the mono and save some money on the upgrade for wire. I would then get six copper rods! The cheaper rods work but the high dollar rods are nicer. I would get two 300 coppers in 45lb. I would also get a 250,150 in either 45 or 32 lb. I use power pro for backer on all the copper lines but there are other good ways to do it. I would use convectors 55 on all but you can get by with the 45 for the 150 copper. The clarions are much nicer if you have the money. Make sure to pick up some tx44 planner boards for the loner coppers.
  20. 2 for 3 marked the most fish in 120 fow. Fishing was very slow. 2 on the rigger 94 and 97 down with a blue dolphin uv. East and north east 1 on 5 color lead core??? West troll
  21. I had my dad and his buddy down to fish over the weekend. We ended up 5 for 7, very poor for the hours we put in. Fish were in 60 to 80 fow and then out in 115 to 130 fow. We didn't have any trouble marking fish or bait but they just didn't want to bite and the currents were really bad. 22 pound king on white j-plug 250 copper on sw troll, missed one banging away on a white paddle and green fly rigger 70 down on rigger sw troll helping a one legged guy with his 22 pounder. 10 pound king on BLL bottom deweller on a free slider east troll, small king on flounder pounder RV 50 down on rigger east troll, small king on flounder pounder RV 60 down on rigger east troll, and small king on white paddle and blue bubble fly on rigger 70 down east troll lost a hog on the 375 copper with blue dolphin UV north troll
  22. 17 pound trilenne for 150 copper and short cores. 20 pound triple fish for 250 copper and longer cores. 30 pound segar for 300 and longer coppers.
