  1. Great looking boat Jimmy, I'll be watching for you to cruise by the web cam when I'm home during the 4 footers. :-)
  2. Will this 3+1 event be on this year? I'm interested as I can't fish Saturdays normally but likely can Thursday evenings. My schedule will be changing soon and I want to try to keep this spot open if this is on and I can find a crew. Thanks
  3. I agree with eye cracker-the water temp went down to about 36 and it was very slow. Am. got 1 nice steelie (that managed to jump out of the net when I either set it down or hit the motor and back into the drink-oh well he was going back anyway) and then went out with Matt and managed a small coho, small steelie, and little bit bigger brown in the evening fish. Missed 1 nice rip. Had to bust the waves south and troll back due to wind and current. Other guys out had 0 or 1 small fish of the 3 or 4 boats I talked to. BUT- gas is 21 cents cheaper in S Haven if you due go fill up there. We started getting a few when we moved out to 30' of water and did best from the pier heads to about a mile south. Nothing by the plant. Red thin fin and mongolian beef
  4. Nice fishing boat for sale set up for Salmon fishing. Will sell with or without the fishing equipment and kicker. Yamaha 9.9 high thrust (new last year w 5 year warrant and auto pilot) B60 thru hull transducer, 3 electric walker down riggers, bimini top custom made from stainless steel tubing, sunbrella fabric that has rod holders mounted on top. See the Holland Craigslist for the full listing and pics. 4590 for boat, rod holders (a lot), and riggers. Kicker and other accessories extra. 61683 6432 7 http://holland.craigslist.org/boa/4405759696.html
  5. Rob. You'll want the 9.9 with the high thrust most likely. The shaft length depends somewhat on the mount and if it will tilt. I have a Tohatsu 9.9 on an 18' which does a great job but the Yamaha 9.9 high thrust on the slick craft and it needs the extra thrust. You're welcome to stop by, you know where I live, and see how I mounted them. I made my own mount out of stainless steel and its solid as a rock, plus it gives them room to tilt up.
  6. Here is a link to what looks like a good deal on batteries that my son sent to me. http://slickdeals.net/f/6834850-sears-25-off-all-diehard-marine-batteries-additional-5-off-free-in-store-pickup
  7. Oh-Oh, sounds like one little brother may have lost his captains spot:grin: I'm looking to connect an HDS8 to a simrad AP14 so if any comments are related to this also I'd be interested. I was told at the Ultimate show that there is a cable available for this by the guys at the Lowrance/Simrad booth but need to find it and figure it out yet. Let me know how it turns out for you Ben.
  8. On the trailer part I'm NOT talking about towing it-just moving slowly and slamming the brake so nothing can go far. I like the smaller bolt idea to keep it in place but I'm pretty sure a strap won't "break it" loose I'd use a chain even if using a tree. I have a heavy 2 axel trailer that will sit with out the jack down on the ground so it works perfect to use as it will only roll backwards a short ways when it comes loose. I could leave the chain on but don't want it slamming so I just let it roll a bit.
  9. I've had success hooking up to a heavy trailer and moving back and forth and hitting the brake, just need to make sure the trailer doesn't go flying or get damaged when it drops down if it comes loose.
  10. I had issues with speed with a transom mount and could only go about 8 or so before losing it (maybe it was the boat design or?) so I now went thru hull and can use it at 20-30 no problem. I had to keep slowing the boat way down to get off plane just to check depth with the transom mount.
  11. Fish, open water, sunshine, shorts-wow, very nice
  12. I found some of these going through my stuff and trying to make it a bit neater for this year. I don't remember if I even tried these but wondered if anyone else did and if they worked. They are a plug with a slot for a piece of cut bait. Any info would be appreciated so I know whether to include them this year or leave em at home. Thanks
  13. I likely can't on a Saturday or Sunday but most any other day I most likely would be there.
  14. Whats your best guess on when the Holland DNR boat launch will be open for business (free of ice) this spring? I'm picking April 3. What do you think?
  15. Hey Tim Didn't you win a new smoker at a fishing for Q a year or 2 back? That don't look like it?? but with the stuff on top looking as good as it does I wouldn't change anything.
  16. Ordered an airman b-60 transducer earlier this year and had great service both on the net and phone.
  17. Hard for me to believe that anyone could think of global warming in MI after this winter. I'll take some of that warming anytime now.
  18. Well when the deer walked off I noticed it has a bad leg or foot so its going to be especially hard on that one.
  19. Looks like this deer is sick of sleeping in the snow filled woods. Its been in the yard a lot the last few weeks. It found some bare ground under the tree. Incidentally the tree is a giant sequoia from California we planted as a twig years ago. Winter also had brought a huge snowy owl that has lowered the rabbit population in the yard and an Eagle that has been prowling the fields. Guess I'm going stir crazy in the house waiting to get on the water. Been staring out the windows too much.
  20. Well three signs of spring today for me. The sun was warm, the temp actually above freezing, and 2 Robins sitting in my tree that must have either their calendar or gps mixed up. Time to get the poles ready:)
  21. Thanks guys for the reply's. I don't know why the link I was using won't work but the sun today got me wanting to see. Lots of ice and I'm starting to think a bit of warmer weather might not be so bad. I didn't even know there was a link right in front of my nose on this site.
