  1. Welcome cal , wasn't but last week saw some one with there kayak out there in the river. As of right now the river launch is open but with the East winds there may be some ice flows blowing in . I heard through the grape vine that there is ice around the docks and in Summerfest lagoon.
  2. We have picked up dark fish as early as late July , found them at the river mouth in late august, but also had them in the harbor as late as mid November for spawning. The Smolts are put in the harbor so that is where the run returns to. This was taken first part of September river mouth 2 years ago.
  3. We were on par for a great season uptil my back blew out, We fished maybe 1/3 of the season and not even prime time and we did great. http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/2/3/7/7/m_dscn0833.jpg' alt='m_dscn0833.jpg'> Fishing will get a little tougher due to stocking reductions , and it will be noticeable more so in the next 2 years. And from what I am hearing on stocking numbers they should stay consistent but may shift the numbers around at different ports. The DNR is still trying to balance the lake and make things right for all of us. The biggest problem is for them to understand what is out of balance and how to get to balance and keep us all happy at the same time.
  4. It's Nice to be back, Surgery went well Doc gave me the go ahead for fishing so here we are. Skipped the tourney GLSF hosted it so had to be there. Crabby charters out of Milwaukee won with a 212 points . Nice Fishing report Out with my Son , My wife and one of her friends, what a day!!! Chose to start later and take it slow. After setting lines south of town ran into a bud and followed his suggestion running east west . Wow found a ton of fish. Ran 12 lines out of my 17 foot boat we looked like a porcupine, but it did the trick. all of the 12 rods fired , 2 FF combos ,3 plugs , 7 spoons . Pancake flat morning . First fish a coho off the probe rigger, after that it turned to a blur for the next 2 hours , at one point we cleared 8 rods before being able to reset what was pulled . many doubles that turned to quad's before loosing a couple. The fish were hitting really hard ,and would rip out a ton of line even on the boards , we took fish from 85 feet down up to a 3 color, Didn't matter they were all over the water column. As far as we can figure we went something like 17 for 11 loosing some real pigs right near the boat. Tight Lines and great fishing. Jim
  5. Pioneer is correct we have some on this side , as far as bigger fish the DNR says it because we had a few good year classes of alewives . I have just started fishing again (got the go ahead from the Dr.) All my kings have been over 20lbs , a 36 lb king was caught out of Milwaukee they are running big but we will have to keep an eye on what happens because if according to the way the stocking rules went if the average weight went up is that stocking would increase , only I can't remember how many seasons that would be. The smaller kings can normally be found out deep near the midlake reefs , along with Coho and Rainbows.
  6. This is what a locator thats working correctly looks like , just could not get a crow bar to open there mouths. one more The heavy line at the 35ft level is my probe. Too much bait and fish with lock jaw Jim
  7. on this side of the pond (Milwaukee) general chat 68 otherwise 16
  8. wow you will have a hard time topping that one
  9. Out with a friend of mine going 20 for 25 this morning. Bite started very slow and took forever to get going, picked away at them for a few hours to get our 4 man limit. Marked fish all day just that in the early hours they all had lock jaw. After the N E blow it moved the cold water south and scattered the fish . Got to keep looking if your not on them. Tight lines Jim
  10. awesome products , wouldn't buy anywhere else, bullet proof
  11. If you go out try starting at 80 and work your way out to 120 . Straight out from the North gap. Jim

  17. When there hot , go fishing. Set lines shortly after 6am [little late] My wife threw the skunk out before 630 with her fish Coho of the season, She decedied it was the boys turn after that and would watch and enjoy the show. Worked the same water as yesturday 130 straight out from the north gap. Paid off very well. Passed a hooked fish a couple of time to grab another rod. fishing was steady until the last 2, turned due west to pull lines and the deep rigger goes off with a laker , and while pulling the rest a screamer on a high board , It was a coho and must have hit it a full speed . ended the carnage going 17 for 20 in less than 3 hours. 16 Coho 1 laker Great fishing!!!!!! a small video will follow later Tightlines Jim
  18. Nice catch Josh, hope the boats ok . we found that a south troll was best also.
  19. Well guys I am taking every chance I get to get out and its been paying off. My season will most likely end for the year June 16th . I am having back surgery on the 18th to repair some herniated discs .Wish it could wait till fall but that aint going to happen. The coho have been cooperating with a limit today along with one Rainbow bonus. As it seems to go we started late , picked up some Intel from a charter captain and headed out . Guys were fishing from 60 all the way out to 150. we started in 110 and fished from 120 to 135. found a small pocket of fish that lit up 2 -3 poles every time we cruised through. 2.5 hours to fill our cooler , done before Noon and didn't have to get up early. Nice. Our groups fish in is tomorrow and the Gopro is coming out this time. Wish I had it for the Rainbow today , it was out of the water more then in .hope to post a video from tomorrow. Oh yeah almost forgot we went 11 for 14 , had a double and both fish ended up at the back at the same time. Lost them both. Just great to be out! Tight Lines Jim
  20. I would like to thank the people that tested and still are testing , its because of people like that that our catch rates go up, with out them we only have data that is meaning less. I for one really like fishing my copper , I do prefer blood run copper though. Please post the numbers for 2.0 when they are available, i am sure we will all see the difference and it will open everyone eyes . Thanks Jim
  21. The biggest problem i find with these numbers that most of us [at least on the west side ] run at between 1.8 -2.2 on the probe . not gps speeds . GPS speeds do not take in consideration of currents. I run 1.9 on my probe which can get anywhere from 1.9 to 3.5 on my gps. But lets say I read this wrong then I run .6 slower then the tests, my lines are running much deeper that these at 2.5
