  1. Nice job! Lightning is nothing to mess with. One of my friends were hit by lightning Friday morning in their boat in Ludington. They were all Ok but it blew up their attenna, burned off their rigger cables and wire diver off at the waterline and fried their radio and depth finder.
  2. Fishing was slow for us this weekend but fishing was good at other locations in the area. Got to the launch Friday and saw lightning over the lake so we waited it out. It was just a few small cells that blew up in front of Ludington. The cells flared up from nothing and put on quite a lightning show. One of our good friends was out early before it flared up and they got struck by lightning in their boat. It hit their antenna, blew that up into 3 pieces, went through the port side of the boat and out both downrigger cables and port wire diver. It melted off the downrigger cables and wire diver at the water and they lost all that gear. It blew out their radio and depth finder too. We were so glad everyone was OK, that had the potential to be real bad. The odds are one in millions to get struck by lightning, not many people can say they were struck by it and survived. Thank God! We left the dock at 7AM and went south of the nets to the 50's and fished from there to Pentwater. We had a slow pick all morning, landing the first 3 out of 4 and then losing the last six fish in row. Came in with 3. On Saturday, we went to the same water as Friday. We had decent late morning action so we thought we would do better starting early. That was a mistake. Came in 2 for 7. When the bite is slow, it helps to stick most of your bites and our landing ratio was aweful both days. Action was good at Big and Little Point Saturday. We hoped to redeem ourself on Sunday but it blew hard and we did not fish.
  3. Thanks for fixing it Dan
  4. I could not get the link to work but it may be because I took the survey. If it does not work for you, trying copy and pasting it in your browser.
  5. Got this by email today: Good afternoon, The Michigan Department of Natural Resources – Fisheries Division is asking for your opinions on future management activities for our fisheries resources. Please take 10 minutes to provide your views on what you believe are the most critical activities Fisheries Division employees work on to make Michigan the place to fish. To access this survey, just visit http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Strategic_Planning_Public_Survey2012 This opinion survey will close at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, August 13, 2012. Thank you for your time. Jim Dexter Chief, Fisheries Division
  6. Good advice above if you can only add one copper set up for the boat. If you can add a couple, the 200 ft 45 lb copper has been our best rig this season. I love 150 ft lengths of copper because you can run them in traffic. They are real good later this month when the kings start staging inside and fishing pressure builds.
  7. 20 lb Ande, use to move up to 30 pound in August when 20 lb kings were common but haven't in recent years.
  8. Sounds like some great steelie action once you found them, nice catch!
  9. Nice job Shane, did your bro tell you I found his trailer fender on US 31 on the way home. He called and said he lost it and asked me to watch for it on my way home. I picked it up on the side of the highway.
  10. Thanks for the report, one of my buddies was there yesterday and they only got 1.
  11. Nice job and nice pics, those are some great kings! Congrats on a strong finish in the tourney.
  12. Today was the only day I fished this weekend. We made a family trip to the UP camping for a few days and got back late and I slept in Saturday. I needed it. We almost hit a wolf that darted across the road in front of us when we were up north. It was a great trip with the kids. Today, we ran 18 miles south to Little Point and set up in 130 ft of water. Trolled that south to the point and turned back north. We had great early action, doubles and triples, all real nice kings. Got 15 by 9:30 and headed in. Fish were coming from 47 to 90 down on riggers with mag moonshine spoons crabface, do de k, carbon 14. Hi Divers out 120 to 140 with chrome/mt dew and tuxedo spin doctors with blue fairways flys were steady. No hits on a full core, 200 and 300 ft coppers with a moonshine blue jackel on the 300 and a yeck jerid on the 200 were very good. My boat is fixed and ready to rock but I fished with my neighbor Steve today on the Widowmaker. This box had such a nice average size, we hung it on the rack. Nice tuna's today, they were screaming drags! Some boats did good fishing north on the bank today too.
  13. Congratulations on slammin them, that's a nice box!
  14. Nice job Bob, the wind has been ripping here in Ludington all day.
  15. Same here but with double divers, we set the low divers first. Once they are down and you start a hi diver outside of them, the hi diver will never catch the low since it will be above and outside it. You have to keep a thumb on the spool and keep them digging the whole time so the hi diver is pulling away from the boat, the key is to not to let them go back quickly. Same when resetting them while fishing.
  16. Good job in the tourney Jeff!
  17. We are headed home Sunday afternoon so we'll miss you Nick. My cell is 231-233-4471, give me a call on your way up and I'll let you know how we did and where. My cell does not work good inside my place. If you get voice mail, I'll call you back when I get a cell connection.
  18. Sounds like a good day, always nice to be on the water and have some fresh salmon back on land.
