  1. Decided to change it up and went out of Muskegon last night. Used the DNR launch and what a pain that is to get to. Pretty weedy and shallow but I'd use it again if need be. Ended the night 5 for about 10. All steelheads from 90 to about 120' of water. We lost all the kings that hit and they seemed to be swatting at it instead of taking it. We'd have them on the copper until the board was about half way in. Did have one on a wire diver 150 that took us out to 450 and came unbuttoned about 50' from the boat. Here's what worked for the steel. full core SS screwball took 2 250 copper with double trouble took 1 rigger set at 85 with glow blue dolphin took 1 braid dive at 120 with some type of glow spoon took 1. Kind of surprised at the depth of the steelhead.
  2. The thing I really don't like about grand haven is the hour long no wake zone, and then the "public" cleaning station.
  3. Just like Aaron, I have the same releases but I do have trouble with the big jon releases working right. Sometimes they release with nothing on so I jam them in farther and then they won't release on a fish. Kind of a pain to get them right....
  4. Very nice explanation twill. You wanna come into my physics classroom and guest lecture when we talk about relative motion? The only thing I might add is that when the fish are suspended in a current they won't notice there's a current. Similar to us not noticing the earth is spinning really fast because there's no reference. In reality, an east wind is actually air moving slower than we are.
  5. Hi, I've been out of Holland almost entirely this year mainly because of the good fishing but also because of the cleaning station. Was thinking about going out of Muskegon but haven't been there in a year or two. What launch do I go out of? I used to go out of the small one on the south side of the lake by the condos but with the bigger boat I'm worried because I remember them being a little shallow. Is there any run by the state so my plate tags get me in free? Thanks
  6. Thanks for the report. Is all your copper 30 or 45 pound?
  7. Went out of Holland this morning and yet another experience. Hit the dock a little late then had a throttle problem so had to sit out in Lk. Macatoilet for about an hour to get it fixed. Ended up getting it fixed and went out to a mad house of people. WOW, there's alot of people who are out lately and do they know how to fish a pattern and not cut people off? We did ok, ended up 6 for 10 or so. Couple of nice steelhead and the rest were kings. Here's what worked: Nice 8 pound steel on moonshine orange carbon on full core 6 pound steel on double orange crush on half core 12 lb, and 8 lb king on wire diver with mongolian beef at 180 10 lb king on BLL kermit on diver at 120 8 lb king on 250 copper with BLL green kato Couldn't buy a hit with FF and all spoons but only when we got away from the boats and the best was a straight west line from 110 to 135 just north of the pier head.
  8. Thanks, but a little far away unless I can't either figure it out myself or find someone in the west michigan area.
  9. Hi, Is there anybody who could answer some questions about my 1995 mercury 200hp xri? I've got some issues with it and am currently trying to troubleshoot it. Please drop me a note, or pm if you don't mind. Thanks Mike
  10. Way to go Dave. Hopefully he still wants to fish after chumming.
  11. Well, had my worse night gear wise ever. Got into some really nice fish at about 130' of water but had a rookie on board who lost some gear for me. Landed one fish that was a touch over 20 pounds and had at least 3 others on of the same size. Lost a 300 copper and a full core along with boards as well as another copper. My number is on the boards so hopefully there's someone out there who's nice Had many short strikes early with quick hook ups and then nothing. Sped up to high 2's on the fishhawk and had the good hook ups. Fish liked them big and fast last night but unfortunately had all those darned break offs.
