  1. This may sound stupid but when the batteries do equilize wont you still have the same voltage still be available. The switch just makes it so you can't drain both batteries. Also in most cases with larger boats a stern drive alternator will produce enough amps to keep up. In my boat I will be running everything of off batteries with no charging while I'm trolling.
  2. I don't but i rigged up some okuma xperies with 150 and 300. I think I ended up spending 160 bucks for the whole set up. Xp 302 w/150' 45lbs copper and 200yds 30lbs PP 50'20lbs fluro xp 452 300' 45 lbs and same backing and leader
  3. I have not had an issue this year with 1 and have had a small set of cables made to hook to my trolling motor battery if I ever have a problem. I only have a 50hp main so that doesn't take much to turn over. This year I am adding an auto pilot and throttle control. Do you guys think I would be OK with the set up I have or am I over thinking this. I am able to pull start the engine in an emergency. I have done it in the drive way to see how hard it was. Steve
  4. I don't think you will have to worry about that here. These guy here are great. After only 1 year of salmon fishing I still don't have a lot to give experiance to give back but thanks to the people here it's comming. Of all the site's this is the best group of fisherman that I have come across. Steve
  5. The only place I have to mount a switch is kind of in the way. I could use one if I have to but I was tring to find a way around it. But If a switch is the best way then that is what I am going to use. Steve
  6. I want to add a second battery to my boat. I would like to have the gps/sonar, kicker auto pilot, kicker throttle control and down riggers (2 digitrolls) to 1 and the motor starting to the other. Is their awayto isolate the acc. battery from the starting battery and still have the alternator charge both. And without one of the battery switches. Thanks Steve
  7. That makes sense. I usually only fiah 2 so it wouls even out the chance a little. Steve
  8. my wife definently deserves it for letting me fish as much as I do. Thanks I will am going to try to get a hold of syonker.
  9. Got that covered last month:thumb:
  10. OK my I just found out my from my credit card statement that my wife git me a ray marine tiller auto pilot for my kicker. 1 is it cheating that I check the credit statments at christmas time? 2 Who has used one of these and what do you think of them? I will be putting it on my lund 18 ssv 8 hp kicker. It looks like it mounts to the tiller handle but it looks like it may be desinged for sail boat tillers. I would like to try it to free up the turns the people seam to make while I am setting lines. Thanks Steve
  11. Nick do you by chance know if they would make good 3 color core reels
  12. I had a chance to fish on boat with a jet drive if i remember right it was a 28' penn yann mid 90's. While talking about the boat he told me it was a good system except while trolling he always had to use a kicker. Other than that he loved the speed and shallow draft. Steve
  13. I have a question about DR blow back. I have an old old set of cannon digi trol II I thought I was up grading when I bought pancake weights to replace regular Balls. I am also running 12lbs panckaks up from 10 balls. last year I was running stacker releses and this year I'm running sliders It still seams that I get a lot of blowback. What is the best weights to use to reduce blow back. Thanks Steve
  14. This was my first copper set up and I was happy with it but it is only a starter I ran 300' of 45lbs super copper off of xp 452. and 15' off a xp 302. I ran both with 200yrds of 40lbs braid. The only issue I had was it took me a couple of timesto get the knot small enough to fit thru the line guide on the reel. I ran them on 6'6 MH uglysticks I am going to be picking up 6 cv-30D fo dipsy reels and downrigger rods. Steve
  15. Nice deer that makes for a good start to a season.
  16. I do know where you can get a heck of a deal on a Tekota/Heartland/Torpedo wire/tip combo though. It's in about 100' of water just north of the first set of nets off Muskegon!
  17. OK this leads me to another question I wanted to ask. Do I need to have shorter rods for my low divers? I was looking for 8'6" or 9' rods to seperate thr to rod tips in the holders. thanks Steve
  18. Ok I ordered some chaimbelin relese now its on to geting my wire divers. I am looking for some thoughts on the rods I am seting up. I was thinking of som CV30d's with 600' and 50lbs backing. Is there a differance between 600' and haveing 1000' spooled? I found new gander moutain brand 8'6" M roller rods for $75 was it worth it to get these or do i need something else? I only make out salmon fishing 1 or 2 weekends a month, as most of my time is spent walleye fishing sag bay and erie. Thanks Steve
  19. I have a troll master II and it wirks great. I tried to google remot troll and didn't get a website for it. Steve
  20. I am dumping the stackers and tring sliders next season and adding some copper/core and a diver. Steve
  21. Ok I am contemplating changing DR releses. I have used Off Shore ball and stacker releases that need to be replaced. I have seen some rubber band releases but are there any other good oness. Nick, what type were you using when we were out with you. Thanks Steve
  22. I live in SE michigan but I wouldn't have a problem driving to a central location for everyone Steve
  23. Thanks Ken I was thinkng about reel swaping to reduce the number of rods on the boat. I have some 6'6 MH heavy Ugly sticks that I used on my copper this year. I also checked out the blood run web site and would probably get the wire from them. I would like to try to run 2 lines per side this year. How many rods do people run on each side? I can run 4 per side walleye fishing w/o tangles but they are only 100' back max. Thanks Steve
  24. This year I ran 2 DR with stackers 20' apart. Next year I am going to try sliders to eliminate 2 rods at the back of the boat. I ran 2 124 walkers on 30lbs braid. Next year I am going to try 1 wire dive and if I can get that to work w/o tangles I get another. A 300' and a 150' copper on walleye boards. Next year i want to add a 200' & a 250'. Also I would like to get some 3 and 5 cores for spring coho since I am going to be leaving a boat in St joe for april and may next year. Also I wll try meat next year I just have to find out what and where to get it. Steve
  25. I miss quote dthe book it says the diver dives faster on 3 than a 2. I thought it was a typo.
