  1. Great job on the Solo Trip, did the same thing on Sunday - had a blast
  2. Off to a late start this morning due to no crew. Ryan was on the fence about going and fell the wrong way – guess he would rather stay home and paint the house than go fishing. So I enlisted my new first mate Jasper. So it was a solo trip. He did really well at sleeping, but not so well at driving the boat and helping with the net. I'll see if a little more training may help. Did ok for that late start had my 3 rods in the water by 9:15 am. Can the dog run 3 rods??? First rigger went off after about 20 mins, and so did the fish all gone. Wire diver was not doing anything so I decided to pull it and let out the 300 copper. Just as I set the rod in the holder, there goes the rigger again. Who driving the boat – “Dutch” my trusty bungee cord autopilot. Good thing it flat out here today. So first fish almost to the boat, wait there goes the copper. Now this is fun, a double and I have to net these myself? Two really nice size kings !!!! Hey Ryan how’s the house painting going buddy !!! Must be my new Muskegon luck charm that I added to the dash. Jasper came up from his first nap from down below. just in time to watch me clean the deck. I Get every thing back in the water and Added a slider to each of the riggers – why not…. 300 copper is acting funny – pull it in. My birthday is not for a couple of weeks and somebody stuck a balloon to my spoon. Thanks I love reeling in this 300 ! Put 300 back out, just enjoying the ride – Jasper taking his second nap. Decide to change up the 300 as I’m bringing it in a crazy steelhead grabs the spoon and here we go again. Nice 10# Steel. that spoon must have been going 8mph. Get the 300 back out again - things settle down a bit, RIGGER – RIGGER - 8# steel on the slider. One more fish to go. Pull the 300 – lets try the wire diver again. Get it out and set, RIGGER – RIGGER. All done. Pulled lines @ just after Noon. I Started in 70 fow worked out to 130 just north of the pier, I stayed in 130 to 120 just doing loops. Here is pic of the spoons that worked. End up with 1 man limit - 14# king, 2 - 10# kings, 10# steel & 8# Steel Home by 1:30 Get the fished clean the time for Fresh Steel pan fried nuggets. are you done painting yet Ryan???? Kinda of fun just going out with the Pup.....
