  1. fished tonight in the western basin approx. 3 miles northwest of west sister. set lines at 4:45 and were done with a four man limit by 8:15. ran jet 30's at 85 back and 2 dipsies at 65 back. the dipies only took 2 fish the rest came on jets. the hot spoon tonight was puss-n-boots(mi stinger scorpion)
  2. western lake erie report" fished western basin fri., sat., sun. june 5th-7th. fri. was approx. 3 miles northwest of west sister in 28 fow. had my two sons on board ages 9 and 13. they rann all the gear big boards with three lines on each side. we started at 7:15 and were done with our 18 walleye by 11:00. fished jet forties at 65 back with mi. stinger hiway huckleberry taking most of the fish with a couple purple demons thrown in. Sat. fished with some older retirees. started out the same area and really couldn't get a whole lot going. moved over near sputnick(turn around bouy) and struggled some more and managed to put 11 in the box. all fish came on huckleberry. Sun. fished back at fri. spot with a 9 yr. old, a five yr. old and buddy and his wife that haven't trolled much. we boated our thirty with 5-7 throwbacks and lost four or five at the boat. pretty much same programm as fr. but we moved the forty jets back to 85 and the hot spoon was again huckleberry and puss-n-boots also took a bunch of fish. took us about 6 hours to get em'. awesome day of fishing. the quality of fish is awesome. we had five fish in the cooler that went over five pounds and at least 15 that were over 3.5. the rest were about 2 lbs. also caught one with a michigan jaw tag. and don't know who caught it we discovered it as we were cleaning the fish. moral of the story don't think the old guys can out fish the kids and newbies.

  4. tom, run out a little farther to the turn around bouy( large white with red stripe) and find 28-30 fow a ton of fish out there . i was running jet 40's 65 back with hiway huckle berr, chartruese pooh bear, and puss-n-boots and they all took a bunch of fish. started at 700 and was done by 1115 with 4 tickets. if you have jet 30's run those back 85. good luck. my boat name is nut-n-eze and i am normally on ch. 80. give me a call. i'll help if i can todd
  5. "new buffalo memorial weekend" Fished new buff fri. evening, sat. all day and sun till noon the fishing was steady. fri. evening boated eleven fish between two boats most fish came on double orange crush, lemon ice and green dolphins on full cores out in 70-80 fow, sat. picked up twelve between the two boats in the same area with the same spoons. sun boated 7 and probably lost 10. same presentations. chatter on the radio was alot of steelhead being takien out in 195-205 fow flatlining spoons off boards. never did find a fish cleaning station in new buff. but stayed at the transit docks and they let us clean right there and even let us put the guts in the dumpster. not a bad set up. the fish that didn't come on full core came off the riggers at 56. took only a few steelies off half core. all in all the fishing was pretty good. for two and half days of fishing the two boats went 30 for about 65. not a great batting average but not bad for some amateurs. out of the 30 fish we kept 3 lakers for smoking, six steelies, six cohos, 15 kings. the largest king was 19#.

  22. Mike, Just stumbled across the site while digging around on the net. Takes me about four and a half if i'm pulling the boat or three without. It's 285 miles from my driveway to the marina. I saw the replies about the reels. Thanks again for your help. it looks like northland outdoors is the cheapest by about ten bucks. thanks todd
  23. Hello all, Just got hip to this site and love it already. I have been an avid Lake Erie walleye fisherman(western basin) since childhood. I have a 2007 23' baha gle outfitted with everything for walleye, prch and salmon. All my trolling gear is big jon. I have been salmon fishing since a teenager with my father and on some charters but just started running my own boat last year up in Ludington. And yes i'm hooked!!!!!!!! I have alot of hand me down salmon gear and am looking to upgrade some of the reels to accomadate lead core. I am really looking at the okuma convectors. I only live 40 minutes from cabelas. Does anyone know of a better place to get them? Always willing to chat fishing send me a message. Todd
