  1. Thats really cool! The picture says it all. Good job
  2. The cool thing about bow hunting is, as heart braking as it is to go through what you've just been through, it only makes it that much sweeter when you finally score. Hope you get some more chances soon!
  3. Nothing like fresh walleye for dinner. I especially like walleye cheeks. They taste almost like fried clams if you ask me. I shared some of this with my folks. Pops is on a special diet which he hates but hes allowed to eat fish which he loves. Orange countdown was the hot bait. Or at least as close to orange as they make now days. I guess repala discontinued the old colors. Too bad I really liked orange and gold, and chartreuse and white. If I ever come across a store that has some of the old colors I might have to stock up on em.
  4. Just noticed this is the wrong place to post reports. Sorry my bad.
  5. Took a trip up to Oscoda friday and saturday. Turned out to be a good time. Friday night on the pier I went 0 for 3 on walleyes. Had a hard time netting them by myself in the dark. I know. Excuses excuses Next morning I fished the river. Didn't have any spawn so I was using waxies and wigglers. At one of the spots I was fishin a guy caught a loose hen and just let the eggs spill all over. Most of them ended up in the river but I managed to scrape up enough for a few bags. First cast using them I hooked a nice hen. I'm thinkin way cool! Then ended up losing her in the logs Not without a good fight though A nice guy at wellmans set me up with some steelie skien later in the day. Just enough for a dozen bags. Cool dude! Hooked one more steelhead after that, but believe it or not I lost that one too! I think that one was the hardest loss. She was fresh in the river and really put up a fight. Almost had her beached too. Oh well. Decided to head back to the pier for walleyes. This turned out to be a good decision as I ended up 4 for 4 on walleyes. I think if I had stayed long enough I could have got my limit, but I figured it was late and theres no sense in being greedy. Heck to tell you the truth I would have been happy with just one I took some pics. I'll try to get them up tommorow. Hope everyone else enjoyed their weekend. I know I did
  6. Happy Easter to all of you!
  7. Interesting for sure. Still can't help thinking they must have too much time on their hands over there.
  8. I can only dream of that ever happening. A 29lb brown OR atlantic. Either way it'd be going to the taxidermist. And I guarantee I'd have plenty of pictures to go along with it
  9. Actually I should have titled this possible WORLD record atlantic.
  10. Anyone else read this article? http://www.michiganoutdoornews.com/articles/2010/03/25/top_news/news02.txt Don't know about the rest of you guys but if I caught a salmon or brown or for that matter any fish that weighed 29lbs I think the last thing I'd do is fillet it!
  11. I went out after work tonight to look for sheds. No sheds but saw some birds fly up to roost. Lots of turkey sign in the area too. White streaks down the tree trunks, and areas where they've been digging under the leaves for food. Got a good feeling about this year
  12. Happy anniversary a few days late Congrats on the 20 years! Its good to see theres still some people in this world that understand the meaning of commitment.
  13. Been watching the peir cams the last few days and man it looks like its been killer weather. Sure wish I could get out there before the weather turns crappy again. March came in like a lamb so I figure about the time I'm able to hit the pier its gonna be lion time Glad you got into em!

  15. Got mine too. I'm hunting over in your neck of the woods again Ed. I got the last hunt so try and leave me some okay
  16. Yeah I like bowhunting squirrels and stuff. It keeps me in good form. Got to be ready for spring turkey season you know
  17. I got a new squirrel call and tried it out last sunday afternoon. Called in a couple but was only able to get one of them. A small red jim. I also managed to call in a kestrel. He slowly made his way over to me by hoping trees until he was in the tree directly above me. I decided to try to get a picture but he took off before I could get my camera out. He was very curious. I think he was hoping to find an easy meal. Anyway the call works. For dinner. Squirrel pot pie by candle light. Yummy
  18. Nice pic! I picked up camera hunting about 8yrs ago now. My wife bought me a nice 35mm canon film camera for Christmas that year. I later bought a 170-500mm zoom lens for it. First time I took it out I was hooked for life. In some ways its even more fun than hunting. Just don't have any backstraps to show for my efforts
  19. He's 26 lbs now. Just turned 10 weeks old monday the 8th of feb. He's doubled his weight in the last 3.5 weeks!
  20. He played in the snow for hours while we shoveled. Just like a little kid. Can't believe he didn't get brain freeze. He kept running around with his nose in the snow. Smellin for critters I guess. He's got it in his blood thats for sure. Now if we can just get him to mellow out a bit
  21. Brrrrrrrrrr. Makes me cold just lookin at it Nice pic!
  22. 5 rabbits doesn't sound like a bad day. A good thaw would probably get them moving. Doesn't look like we're going to get one of those anytime soon though. I may pop out for a bit tomorrow. It's not supposed to be as windy as today. Glad you had a good time with your GP uncle and dad!
  23. Just saw this at mlive. Looks like its in all of the lakes now http://www.mlive.com/environment/index.ssf/2010/01/deadly_vhs_virus_found_in_lake.html
