  1. First thing, i would try to find the butt of the motor problem...i would start by a fuel additive and cleaning your carbs, you don't want it to become a BIG problem. I think you really need some sort of GPS to really guage where you were running.
  2. That's why they call it a shakedown trip! Better luck next time bud.
  3. Way to go Jim.....really getting after them this year:thumb:

  7. Ken, This is the brother in-law that lives in Caledonia near you....and never been on the big lake:confused:
  8. Really Frank....another limit?? Nice work:thumb: You must be able to sniff em out or something.
  9. Boat had not touched the water since memorial day and the brother in-law was up so it was a good excuse to take the day off and head south for the day. Couldn't have asked for a better day as both the weather and the fish cooperated:thumb: This was the first time the brother in-law had been big lake fishing so needless to say i was busy. From 5 am until 6:30 am i could not get more than two rods in the water the am bite was so good. Once I did get the spread in the water we took 2 doubles and a triple. We had a fish take the wire diver out 400' and while the bro in-law was trying to manage that one I took one on the rigger rod and put that in the box turned around and the other rigger rod is bouncing and boated that one before the bros big fella was ready to go in the box. A few minutes after this there goes the 300' copper and I was more than happy to hand that off to the bro. That one beat him up a little:grin: Everything worked today...riggers, divers, lead core and copper from the boards and down the chute. we finished the day somewhere around 20 for 30 with near half the fish between 12-16lbs From what i can remember here is what worked for us Stinger Lemon Ice Modified Carmel Dolphin Sea sick Blue Dolphin Gator Nitro Pox 11" Protroll UV plaid prochip pulling a Blue Halo Bugeye Fly took a few 8" Protroll purple plaid prochip pulling a Brads Blue Hawaiian cut plug took a few as well Here are a few pics of the happy greenhorn Kinda funny I noticed that there are hardly any rigged rods in the pictures:grin:
  10. They look great, although i have yet to actually get my hands on any. I really like the idea of being able to change leaders for bead color, size and orientation. There really is an art to presenting an effective fly spread. The length of the leader is the one that seems to be common knowledge. There doesn't seem to be many that play with the beads and that is what i was taught and made to be a believer of. To put it simply, the size of the bead that sits forward to the head impacts the degree the skirt body will flare and on a certain day that can make a big difference from my experience. This all depends on the size of the head in relation to available bead size so i am curious to actually get some of these in my hand. Thanks for the report and i am looking forward to seeing how customizable these flies can be!
  11. Another great report Rich! You and Billy V have got me dying to get to Lake O!
  12. Interesting Bill. I guess i hadn't thought about it that way on the big boards. OK, let's just say no on the inlines...right? This is why i love this forum. So many different opinions and many that definitely think "outside the box" and are willing to try many different means of achieving the same goal....boing! Fish on!!
  13. Nice catch Frank....bet that steelie fought like a sheephead!
