  1. We use 6' long sliders, semi fixed with surgical tubing on the mail line...learned from GLF's own Mike Heckman...I've attempted others, and every once in a while if we are lazy we'll through a free slider on a rigger (that's when you just hook it to the line and let it find its' own depth). There is probably not a right way or wrong way to run sliders, just whatever you feel comfortable with setting.
  2. Very nice work...it a long way out of Holland to get out there...even longer to get to 300. I tried it once - stopped in 250 to set lines figuring we would get to 300 in not too much time - a few hours later I think we managed 270.
  3. Great action - love the rigger bite...nice work.
  4. Same problem for us...TONS of marks...very few takers.
  5. Nice job on the quick trip Dave...it was flat yesterday...just gorgeous for a mid week trip..the lake was VERY busy at night...at one point I counted 55 boats in view.
  6. HOLY MOLY....nice job Don - 27lbs...that's a wall hanger my friend.
  7. Nice job Cary, they were not easy to find yesterday.
  8. It looked beautiful on the web cam...nice mid week trip.
  9. That's because you guys have sharks in Lake O...hahaha...those kings are huge.
  10. Great job getting a few before the blow...we had lines in for an hour or so and got skunked.
  11. We got kings and steelhead in 50fow last Thursday....that's where I would go, at least to start. Not worth driving past it just to come back in. Drop a few lines in 50fow and see what happens...if nothing - aim west.
  12. Go over to the east side - lots of boats in the detroit area for cheap.
  13. Go to the Gallery and pick the right species to post pictures...once you have posted it you can copy the URL to the fishing report. Nice job getting the kids involved...he'll never forget his first big lake king...awesome.
  14. Welcome to the site Steve...love your avatar. We fished in a small boat up near Drummond when I was a kid and I remember getting close to those Ocean Liners....cool.
  15. Welcome to the site Jason. I've been at it pretty hard and heavy for about 7 years (after a long time off) and I've JUST caught my first 21lber this summer. Great start you have going.
  16. Well, we looked at the weekend forecast and didn't think it would be fishable so we decided to pull a school night trip. Left the dock at maybe 5:00 and since the water was cold inside we decided to start in about 50fow. Seemed like a great idea as we were on fish within 30 minutes...just no size, but it was still a great night on the water. Managed 8 total missing a few so 8 for 10 maybe. One laker, Nice 10lb 14oz steelhead and the rest kings, but biggest was probably 9 pounds and most of the rest were grillers. Ran 3 color, 100 and 200 coppers, riggers down 30 and 45 didn't take a sniff, dipsey with yellow 8" paddle and yellow fly caught the laker on a turn when it dipped to the bottom. Stayed between 50 and 65fow all night. All in all a great night on the lake before the storm that is due today. Tight lines and stay safe if you hit the water this weekend.
  17. Great job Slim...Kelly - a policy from Boat US for towing is CHEAP...best insurance you can buy and it comes it handy when you need it - but hopefully you don't.
  18. Way to go guys...I know that Yeti cooler is always the coveted prize that everyone is looking at...Isn't big combo a downrigger package or soemthing? NICE WORK.
