  1. A little rough going for us this morning. After getting held up by a train, we set lines at 6:50. We went deeper than the pack thinking the fish were ready to move out. No joy, so we headed back in. Finally, at 9:40, we got our first hit in 135 fow. A 10# king hit on a meat rig down 95 on a rigger. It ripped of 200 ft before we were able to get any line back. 10:00 the copper goes balistic. This fish took off and never stopped. Ripped almost 100 ft before the leader broke . 10:25 rigger with a green dolphin starts bouncing with a 5# Laker. 12:20 copper goes nuts again. After a 25 mins fight a nice 16# pound king came in. Pulled lines 12:45. Things seemed a little slow in G.H.. this morning. Tons of boats and many doing whatever they wanted. People were going eveywhich way causing many turns to avoid entaglements. It was like combat fishing at 120 ft. Oh well, at least the skunk made his way out of the box. Keep um' tight,
  2. Bill, I run a Moor Sub Troll. It uses a large analog dial for speed with a small lcd for temp reading. It works well, but you have to use a coated cable in order to get the best results. That cable causes a lot of blowback on that rigger. Don't get me wrong, we still catch fish off the probe rigger, but it's not at the depth the rigger says your at. This is the only type I've used, but I have heard that the Depth Raider and the new FishHawk X4 are really nice and all digital display. I hope I've helped a little.
  3. Sounds like a nice boat. I have a 115 on my Proline 19ft, I think it weighs more than the Starcraft, and it moves well. 4 guys, with calm conditions, I can run about 30-35 mph, full speed.
  4. You're Welcome! This was fun! I hope I can do this again sometime.
  5. That's good news Dave. So when are you getting out on the pond? Two rods, a boat, riggers, what else do you need? Get out there!
  6. I totally forgot about BW. Thanks for the reminder. I'll give him a call. Thanks guys
  7. Thinking about running a meat rig. Can anyone tell me how far behind the flasher to run the bait? Thanks.
  8. I understand. I have a 19 ft, so you can see why I made the statement. You have a crew? I'm jealous! Just Dad and me 99% of the time. Occasionally Mom, sister or sister's fiancé comes with. Oh well, as Tevye said, "If I were a rich man ...."
  9. Thanks Mark. Yeah we were watching and hoping and around 5 it started to calm. Checked an hour later and things were starting to settle, so we piched the gear in the boat and took off. I heard someone on the radio say they were 7 for 8 in the 4-5 foot waves in the am. I'm sorry, I love to fish, but no fish is worth compromising my safety. I don't know maybe they had a 25+ ft boat.
  10. Squeezed in a short trip last night after the winds calmed. We hit the lake around 7:30 and searched for the cold water. Started in 130 fow and trolled ssw with a temp of 48 degrees 80 ft down. Hit 150 with no joy so headed w. Took first hit on 300 copper pulling monkey puke in 202 fow. The board dove underwater and before we could get it up, fish was gone. Still writing our miss in the log and a dipsy 210 back with a JP slammer NBK goes, nice king. Went to 215 and turn heading e. 212 fow the NBK dipsy fires again, another nice king. Then everything shut down. Pulled lines at 9:45 and found a 3# shaker king on the copper . The fish never wiggled the rod pulled the board, nothing. Ended the night 3 for 4. The lake had settled nicely, leaving some rollers, but that was it. It was lonely out there too. I think there might have been 5 boats and there wasn't anyone around us when we caught fish . Nice night on the water.
  11. I have had the opportunity to field test two spoons by JP Slammer. I ran the Glow Fire Dog and the NBK over 4 trips. The spoons, as you can see from the picture, are shaped a little different, which gives them some nice action. The recommended speed is from 2-3 mph. I ran these spoons between 2 -2.5mph at the ball. These spoons are put together with quality materials. They are made of stainless steel, hooks are VMC and the paint stays in tacked better than some of the other spoons I’ve used. The spoons were successful in the short time we were testing. We were 7 for 9 during testing, not including shakers. These are quality spoons that will get the job done. Here are a few photos of the fish we caught.
  12. Congrats on the boat Dave! Now you really have a money pit, just like the rest of us
  13. Thanks Captain Russ- are those double glows or just reg glows?
  14. I assume some of you run these plugs. My question to you is what are some good colors to have when the jplug bite comes to the area. I have seen the double glows mentioned in fishing reports in the past, but was wondering what colors you might recommend. Thanks
  15. Ventured out once again last night. Set lines in 70 fow. Trolled sw to 125 fow. Then looped into 113 fow and headed n. Water was cold, 60 down was 41-45 degrees. We had a 4 for 4 evening. 125 fow, wire diver, 150 back, no see um fly on mountainn dew sd- lk trout 118 fow, rigger, 50 down, JP Slammer nbk- king 113 fow, wire diver, 150 back, no see um fly on mountainn dew sd- king 114 fow, 10 color, monkey puke- steely Wire divers have been hot the last three trips. Catching quite a few fish this year but so far only 4 have been over 10 lbs. But I'm still have'n a blast.
