  4. Hard to believe Fin Warrior has been in the water since April 21st and this was the first time I wet lines. Fished the top of the water column with two dipseys tipped with spoons and on downrigger rigged with a SD & green crinkle fly two passes out. Set up just north of Saugatuck in 130 FOW trolling south at about 11:00am. After about 30 min decided to move out to deeper water. As I moved into the second of two slicks in 187FOW, the downrigger went off. Netted a 5lb king and released it. Made a quick adjustment to start turning south to follow the slick. Before I could get the rod back down, the port dipsey sporting a DW Mixed Veggie UV spoon brought in a 4lb coho which I kept. Just as I got the downrigger down to depth and finished the turn to the south, the SB dipsey tipped with a silver red UV spoon went off bringing in another 5lb king that was released. Got both dipseys back down and followed the slick in and out but the magic was not there. Changed direction to a north troll, back tracking my southernly run but not a bump. Did notice that the water temp at my Smart Troll probes dropped two degrees so on a hunch, decided to move closer to shore to get back to 54.5 degrees at 45' down in the water column. Got to that temperature in 170FOW and got a second hit on the dipsey with the Mixed Veggie spoon. Lost it at the back of the boat. Likely a coho by the way it was thrashing around. Pulled lines a short time later weary of the front moving in that broke up over the lake. Mid-day the lake was very flat and the flies were thick but not biters. The coho made for a great dinner! # Time Fish Weight FOW Latitude Troll Wind Dir. 5. I thought this Baby Bluey toy looked like a little bluegill, and apparently the fish did too.
  6. Kids and I decided to give full moon fishing extravaganza a try. Fished 10pm - 4am. Started with riggers and hi lo divers to see how we would fare with a sometimes less is more attitude. Shaker King off rigger 33 down 30 back Carbon 14 70fow North Slow going so added 2 boards in made some adjustments to riggers and dipsys and worked 70-130fow. Didn't change up lures mostly tried depths, speed, and direction. Lot's of crazy ivan's. Shaker King off board 2 color #14 Perch DDHJ 70fow East While it was slow fishing, the company and the experience was priceless. We would do it again. No fish pics we all know what Shaker Kings look like and really aspire to be
  7. No hits in 2.5 hrs this afternoon working 55-130FOW out of Saugatuck. Ran long lines (6 color through 350cu) and dipsies.
  8. We set up about a mile east of the Toledo shipping channel and hit our first fish with 2 rods in. It was a hot bite. The wife and I got our 12 and threw 5 back pulling lines. All 6 rods went off to end our trip at 9:30 am. Copper backed Moonshine and stinger spoons on divers discs with 80ft and 90ft leads. Had one rod at 70ft and it went 3 times. Good luck!

  10. Better luck than me! I went 0-1. Lost a Steelhead at the boat when it took a tail dance. I thought he was spent. Shelly snack, rigger down 85 ft, 30 ft back. 2.5 mph sog. North troll. 125 fow. I fished north of the harbor. Beautiful morning. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman
  11. Went 2/2 today, finally got out after I installed a new water pump kit on my kicker motor. Fished solo north of Holland. 1-small king, 3.3#, 9:27am, ms std rv sniper on free slider, stb DR bk 55, 2.4 sog, N trl, ball temp 50.7, down 80ft, 156fow. 2-steelhead 5.13#, 9:39am, ms rv burnt bread, stb DR bk 55, 2.4 sog, N trl, ball temp 50.7, down 80ft, 150 fow. When I sent the 1st setup down a second time. The steelhead hit the main lure just as I attached the sniper slider to the main line. Beautiful day, bit of shake down cruise.. Temperature break was at 70-80 ft down. lake was almost flat. Rougher closer to shore than out farther. Also was buzzed by a drone near the CG station. Hovered over my boat as I just got inside the no wake zone and was heading toward the channel entrance. It surprised me at the crack of dawn. 15. If I were you I’d locate an electrical or automotive rebuilding shop nearby. They may be able to repair your motor. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman
  16. They are not a parts supplier or vendor. Therefore I’d look around and see if you can find a replacement motor. They are an electronic repair service primarily for circuit boards. If you can’t find an applicable motor and wish to part it out I’d suggest looking on eBay they now have a listing there and maybe willing to purchase the boards. Don’t know for sure as I’m a satisfied customer trying to help others in need. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman
  17. No local resources near me, where are they located? We have a local Cannon service shop and they cant get new motors. Got a name? Planning to drop a couple grand for new riggers so shipping may not be cost prohibitive.
  18. They are more than capable to provide the service but as a cost factor being shipping I would advise locating a local or nearby provider. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman
  19. I’ve found a repair service for the discontinued Digitroll 4 control boards a few years back. Many have been pleasantly pleased with service. Now I see the repair service has listed on eBay. If you’ve have a problem with the board he can make it right. Tight lines!!! Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman
  20. Might be tough getting some feedback on this subject. That has to be an extremely rare fishing destination. Sounds like a fun trip but I know a lot of angler and don't know anyone who has fished there.
  21. Hey, I’m trying to book a big fly fishing trip (thank you tax return) and I’ve got my eye on SLOVENIA! Has anyone fished there? I’m looking primarily in the Tolmin region - the rivers look incredible and I saw a “Marble Trout” somewhere online that looks like an amazing species. I came across flyfishing guide service Slovenia, which is where I’ve seen most of my information… does anyone have any tips or suggestions for this area?
  22. Awesome fishing. We are heading to Bolles in 2 weeks. Can’t wait. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman
  23. Got out finally yesterday. Ran down to Duluth in the dirty water picked up a few Lakers using a multicolor rapala. Got blown off around 1ish. Had a good day.
  24. We fished out of Bolles Harbor both days. There were a lot of boats fishing north of the dumping grounds and just inside the Ohio line. We kept going into Ohio waters by the Toledo shipping channel north of the Toledo light. There were no boats fishing around us both days. We had our first fish setting lines and had a steady bite. We fished the same area both days and got our limit of 18 both days. We started Saturday with spoons on diver disc's on one side and crank baits on the other side. They wanted spoons so we switched everything over to them. Saturday was overcast with patchy fog and 60 ft leads were best. Sunday was clear and sunny and we had a slow start until we extended our leads to 80 ft and the bite realy got going. Good luck!
