silver one Posted July 5, 2007 Share Posted July 5, 2007 18 lb Mason lead core with 20lb clear mono backer with 75' of flourocarbon leader. You can order them prespooled from Bettsplace on ebay. He carries all the brands, Penn, shimano,Diawa,Okuma and so on. Reasonable price and no hassle of setting it up. He also will sell the same brands in rods. GLF Posted July 6, 2007 Share Posted July 6, 2007 I run my full cores on 8' Shimano Talora's. On half cores, 2, and 3 colors, I have 8'6" Shimano Talora's. I think they are medium action. My boat is 1.5 hours away, and will not be up there until next week.I do not have any issues with getting the rods over the riggers. Some people run 7' rods.This is going to come down to one's preference. Go out fishing with a few different people and see how you like what they have.Where do you live?
