Twill23 Posted February 12, 2012 Share Posted February 12, 2012 The 11th annual Floodfest ice fishing tournament took place this Saturday on Fletcher's Floodwaters of Hillman. This year's turnout was slightly down because of the weather forecast, although over 1000 people showed up to fish!(Not all were officially entered in the tournament) Numbers of fish were WAY down. Less than 25 pike were brought in. Unfortunately fishing in general was extremely slow. This year we decided to change our target species(having finished in the top 10 in pike the last 5 years we had fished the tournament) to perch. We struggled most of the day, but did manage to pull a DANDY 13in out! We took first for the tournament by only 1/8in. I am EXTREMELY unhappy with the recent rule changes in the tournament(i had not been in town to fish it since 09). Unfortunately i believe it is a dieing tournament and some major changes need to take place to turn this back into the fair, and fun 3000+ people tournament it used to be, as I will not be entering the tournament again.
