Trolling bag help

Eyefull

Recommended Posts

I am looking to add a pair of trolling bags to the Eyefull this season. They Eyefull is a 19' Striper walkaround.

Not sure what the best bags available are and what size should I get. I am looking to raise the RPM's slightly and set the boat in the water in lumpy days a little better. Speed really isn't the factor here as the boat trolls down to .7 without bags using the 9.9 yami. Just looking for better throttle control, less side to side movement in big water, and a few more RPMs.

Tony, I have two bags that were made in Tawas by Harley and Barb at the bait shop, Canvas and Upholstery place on US23 just as you're coming into Tawas from the S. These have performed very well for me. I have heard that Amish Outfitters has a VG bag also. I think if you have a good pattern any good canvas shop could fix you up.

Amish Outfitters bags are great, had mine for about 8 years, they have held up very well. You'll probably only need one bag out at time, I never run both of them at the same time. Two will help a bit more on the rocking but not that much, you'll burn a lot more gas with 2 bags out. I have a 21 ft boat.

Thanks guys, sounds like two very good options. I have heard good things about the Manistee bags in the past and have had several guys recommend the Amish bags also.

If I were to run one bag, it would go on the kicker side correct? How much gain in stability of I ran two smaller bags, one off each side?

Looks like a couple phone calls are in order.

When I run bags I always run 2 as it makes the boat more stable and the autopilot has to work a lot less. Mine are from Big Papa Sports. I have 28" bags and my boat is 22' long. You can probably get away with smaller bags as you don't need to slow the boat down. I would get 2 smaller bags, like 18". But the people who make them can help you out with size.

I have 48" bags on the Big Weenie its a trojan 10 meter.I would say the bags are maybe the best thing I ever added. The boat seems to bite when the waves get 4 foot or more and really slows down the roll. I think mine came from the guy in manistee but big papa does nice work, BW
