  1. Tim, I have been saving for months... so the wife can not get mad at me.
  2. Kzoo Froze up in the lower sections Rabbid froze up for most of the river. Grand is mostly open 6th street looks open when driving across the bridge Soon... less then 2 weeks and some of the smaller water will start to unfreeze.
  3. I am with Jim on this one.. Brads cut plugs are ready to go. The outdoorsman in Jenison has the smaller version as well.
  4. Jim the question looms.... How do you know what is hot or cold... If you only fish once a week or maybe twice.... Just throwing that out as a topic of conversation and not a personal dig. Reading reports only tells half the story, you know this. Aside from trusting your fishing buddies and the interwebs, It is a hard battle to pick fromt he piles and piles of gear.
  5. How much does your starting spread REALLY change??? After talking about "name that lure" 3 or 4 lures made the top of everyones list (with some exeption). I know running 6 rods my starting spread is usally the same lures unless I have been fishing alot and found something that has been firing more then normal. This generally happens if the wife and I are fishing together and she picks out the lures for her side of the boat. With my 6 rod morning spread I run 2 riggers 2 divers 2 full core (copper this year) Since I start EVERY morning in the dark my spread looks something like this. rigger- Blue founder pounder rigger- Double Trouble Braid dipsey-Black silver glow fly w/ black glow spin doctor with black tape on one side Braid Dipsey- Bush Light big weenie fly with glow beads and 10 inch blue silver spin doctor Full core- Dreamweaver blue glow bloody nose mag Full core - This rod is the last rod out and it gets the moody blue half moon by moonshine or the Dream weaver green glow with pink dots. Does everyone else do the same thing and go with the ol' faithfull set up or do you leave 4 rods the same and run something differnt on the other 2. If I am fishing with a 3rd person I will use those 3 rods to experiment. ex. Running a J plug or some differnt spoon I normaly would not run right away.
  6. I am sure this type of thread has been passed around, but I am fishing from my desk right now... 2 long lines out with cat treats and some yarn attached to my ultra light... Cat fishing is the best!! None the less.... If you had to only run ONE spoon for your entire spread, ALL DAY, including in the dark. What would it be and WHY? Mine: Moonshine Blue Flounder all day ever day. It never comes off and always catchs at least one fish.
  7. I will be alot next summer around mid day... heck why not:)
  8. If they really cared about about the whales they would buy a sub with some torpedos and sink the jap sailing fleet.
  9. Jim, For once I fully agree with you...!!! LOL
  10. I named my boat Black Ops this year.... Part of it is my love for the game part of is was because of the years I spent fishing the piers in the middle of the night
  11. hehehe 6# and 4# in the river for this guy!! FBD.... No fish from the boat this year in the harbor!!! I used 20# Big game, going to run one rigger this year with 12 or 14 just to see if it gets more hits?
  12. You can get a 2 pack unrigged for 8.99 at cabalas
  13. I was thinking a copper set up too, 300 maybe?
  14. why do you need to run them back 600' ?
  15. Anyone use them?? Good???? Bad??? Here is some video...
  16. Hey, Shrimp has caught browns, coho, lots of steel, and a few small kings. I am going to try the brads cut plugs this year on every trip. They should work... so why not:)
  17. So lets say I am running a 2 person spread.... I would normaly run 2 riggers 2 divers 2 core 10 color and 10 color with a dive bomb I would drag along 2 extra rods with 5 color and mono in case the fish seemed to be higher up. This covers 90% of what I would have fished this year. I would fish the 5 color early in the morning with a glow plug on it. Comming up this year when fishing with 2 people I was thinking of 2 riggers 2 divers 1 10 color and something new.... possible my laker set up idea...... So many options....
  18. Ken, I was thinking of running at least 200 back then set it just like a planner, I figued it would miss the diver. I figured I would set it just like a core rod.. maybe my logic is lacking. What would be the differance between using a core with a dive bomb and a mono/braid rod with a 1 pound ball or 12 oz dive bomb? I guess desk fishing is way to easy right:)
  19. Can I run a 1# ball on the inside board and have it bounce bottom? would it work with say 200-400 feet of line?
  20. So here is a picture of my boat and how its set up 2 riggers 2 divers 2 tree's on each side. I also have a gunner rod holder. Normaly I fish with one other person, and we run 6 rods. 2 divers 2 riggers 2 core ( 10 and 7 or 10 and 10 with a dive bomb depending on the water we are fishing. I have spent the winter reading and looking online at new "simple" ways to catch fish. So with the wife wanting to go fishing on the boat more and more I can run my full spread of 9 rods. I could run more core and cover the water from 2 color all the way to 10 plus with the aid of dive bombs, BUT.... I have a small boat and dragging all that crap is a pain. I personaly could care less if I catch a laker, king, coho. I just like to catch fish. (I perfer steelhead but who wouldnt:) In saying this I was thinking of ways to work Jimmy's Spin glow into my spread while still keeping other lines in the water for kings ect. So the question that looms could I run a "Thumper" rig on the inside board? So it is in contact with the bottom 10 feet? Or maybe a 12 pound mono rod with a 6-8 oz dive bomb??? Would it be better to run this down the shoot?
  21. That is correct the base of the tree is sring loaded. so you can turn them to the back, or you can have them out to the side. I love it because then I can turn them to get into the dock.
  22. Jimmy, how far out is the ship wreck ( Crane and barge ) that is out in front of the north end of Oval beach. I see it in my book and have looked for it a few times when I was out that way. Do you think it has created some type of "reef" or is all just covered with sand by now.? I have been reading this book and I have 1000 new ideas to try and its months away:(
