  6. Anyone going out?? If so what port? I plan on fishing: Tuesday AM Holland Thursday AM Holland Friday AM and PM ???? Saturday AM and PM ???? Sunday AM and PM ???? All of this is weather permiting, but if we can get a few boats together it would be a great time. I have yet to turn the radio on because no other boats have been our or around when I have been fishing. I wonder if it still works lol. I was also thinking of doing a laker trip one of those days, If we can get a few boats out looking for them, maybe we can get them dialed in?? Dave
  7. I went through this last year and I can tell you from experance, go with the 18-19 foot range. If you can afford bigger do so. I love my boat. She has got me home on rough days and she is a dream on nice days. I generally do not fish in waves bigger then 3 feet. If you are getting thrown around it is not fun. To save on the gas bills I bought a new 4 stroke 9.9 and a 3 hour trip goes through .5 gallons of gas. at 2-2.7 MPH
  8. She ran well, I am going to talk to them, she seems to start a bit rough after I have troleld on the little motor for a few hours.... Aside from that she is finishing up here break in period. The kicker motor gets her oils changed this weekend. BTW... Mac has another sandbar in the middle of the lake, I will get GPS on it next week. it goes from 17 FOW 3 FOW and 17 FOW. Does anyone know if they plan on dregging the launch this year... its SHALLOW!
  9. 3-4 with some 5 mixed in was choppy on the little boat
  10. I figued I had better take the semi decent weather this morning and take the boat out. I was joined by Hollandpipper and a family friend of his. After clearning the pier heads we worked our way N past tunnel park with a big 0 for 0. The wind was starting to pick up so we spun the boat around and trolled with the waves back twards the pier. Got in front of the pier heads and one of the boards took off. After a great fight we had a 9# king in the boat, but not the box. He made a hot mess of the net, another line and the back of my boat. Well worth it Fish came on a j-11 blue and silver rapala.
  11. Just thought I would share!!
  12. I ended up putting a new door in last night. Could have been worse, I am looking to get out this week a few times.
  13. I will try to keep more details about speed and directions and such. I mark the info in my log, but never post it.
  14. Mr. Westrate was my science teacher in high school:) Now he is my fishing teacher lol:)
  15. I wonder if it is going to be fishable. I looked at the boat and the webcam and it looks a bit choppy.
  16. How many boats were in that area, I saw a lot of rigs at the launch. When we cleared the pier heads I could see 5 boats so I turned and headed the other way.
  17. All the brows we have caught are full of BAIT.... Looks like a good mix of Gobys and some small bait fish, maybe perch?
  18. Fished from 6-8:30 tonight..... 1-2 Lake was dead flat calm.... trolled in close for an hour, with nothing going. Swung out to 40 FOW and dropped 2 riggers down on the bottom for anything that may be lurking. (IE laker) and took a hit on a Brads mini cut plug packed with tuna. 10 minutes later we boxed a 3# coho. Trolled for 20 more minutes and went home. It was a great night on the water with my wife and friends. Interesting fact of the day is the water temp in close went up 6 degees today on the same section of water I fished this morning. Dave
  19. ok... shake down part 3.... Well I can almost call it a non shake down as the only problem I ran into was using the med. release pinch pads, they dont pop well in 5 FOW. None the less after re mounting my trees last night till midnight, I slept in till 7:30. I stopped and filled up the gas tank for the kicker , all .5 gallons of it and I was off to pick up my father in law. After a cup of coffee and a breif wait at the launch we set lines in the channel and worked our way out to 40 FOW trying to drag up a laker or two, sadly it didnt work. Now that we got ourselfs back on track we headed for the skinny water and got the boat positioned on the inside sandbar (5 FOW) 3 hours later we were 3-3 with 3 NICE browns. 12#, 8#, 6# 2 fish came on thin fish copper/pink 1 fish came on a UV Jointed storm firetiger minnowstick We found water from 37 all the way to 43 on the sandbars and marked 2 piles of bait in 10 FOW. We ran 30 foot leads from the boards to the lures (if that helps any) Here is what you all have been waiting for
  20. Fishing was good to us out of holland this morning Stay away from the pack and you can get some fish. There were 10-15 boats all working the same area:(
  21. Shake down trip number 2 0 sand bars no major problems all in all a good trip.... AND we caught fish.... a fish 4 # steelie on a storm jointed minnow stick Lost a nice king on a copper/orange thin fin (This hit like a ton of bricks and made me do a fire drill as he went all over. 12# leaders held up... the hooks flew out at the back of the boat. Had something smoke a mini flogger with an orange fly while we had the king on, I tured to grab the rod and it was gone. What the fish did not like Rapalas Hot N tots spoons Fished from Half way creek all the way N past tunnel park. 1st fish (Steelie) came on our way out the pier heads 2nd 3rd fish came in 9 FOW at the begining of Tunnel park Water temp north was 5 deg. warmer then sout of holland piers
