Caz, I left a couple of hours later. If I had heard that warning on my marine radio I would have stayed home too. We set lines in Muskegon before six. Took a lake trout early on 10 colors in 80fow on Stinger area 51. Later we took a king 42 ft down in 110 on a wolverine double orange crush. About 10 teh finder was full of fish in 120-125. Everybody commented on it on the radio, and none of us could get a bite. 4 Trips 3 Kings 2 Steelhead 3 lakers

Good job! From what I heard and saw on Saturday at Muskegon, you were the only one who caught anything. I was marking fish occasionally at 60-70, but did not get any strikes.

Be sure to get them a healthy distance away from the boat. I would start with one full core and one half core.

Mike, I would be happy to write for the magazine from the perspective of a person new to big lake fishing. This will the summer of my steep learning curve. It might encourage growth in the sport (and buyers for the sponsors products). Let me know if there is anything I can do to assist with this project.

I have read the multidude of great stuff on this site regarding dipseys, leader lengths, line diameter etc, but have not heard any comments on the role of color in dipsey selection. Would you apply similar color selection criteria to the dipsey as to the spoon or fly? Was there any especially hot color in 07? Thanks,

Thanks Frank, I will get my 2001 GMC brakes checked before boating season. I have been a little concerned about them this winter. It is helpful to know why I may be experiencing diminished braking power.

Thanks for the post! Ouch. I witnessed a buick go in a canal once. Water and cars seem to make for angry (and wet) drivers. LOL

I would prefer a toggle switch to turn on and off the light. There would have to be a clearly marked on/off in raised ink on the rigger. I think that long term the toggles are more trouble free than the push buttons. The LED is an interesting idea, but invariably the battery would always go out when you have the president of the company on board for the first time.

I have been weighing the differences between the Lowrance 527 DF($699) and the Lowrance LCX-27 (1049). Any opinions? What benefit is there is spending more than the cost of the LCX-27? I am in a similar boat, so to speak, as Tim.
