  1. Just thought i would share with you guys that the DNR has passed some lake trout reg changes ,Kelly Smith came to our steelheaders meeting last week and spoke ,he then followed up on the new regs going before the nrc board. He has since emailed a copy to us and the board approved it.I can email this to anyone interested it is 3.78 megs and i dont know if i can put it on GLF some how. Some of the changes that effect the lower units mm6-mm8 is the open season on lake trout will be Jan,1 to oct 31 they have also changed some of the seasons date for the middle zones to jan,1 to Sept 30 and also have changed some slot sizes in the upper units . Ther is lots of other things on river gear restrictions, and trout sizes as well. Again if anyone wants a copy pm me with your email and i will try to send it to you. jimmy

We sell them at mac baits in holland and gold coast in Port sheldon. You can check out our web site at www.jpslammer.com if you are interested in some spoons pm me and i will hook you up, jimmy
  6. Ken I may fish some of the events this year to since they are out of holland.8 or 9 rods dont matter to me 8 is better than 6 for sure.
  7. Well this is how ive done it on the k-zoo a few times,I use my 9 foot steel head rods and use spawn on a 3 way swivel slip rig .I Take A 2 by 6 about 15" long and mount a pole holder to one end of it, set it 9 foot from the hole and adjust it so the rod tip is just above the ice set the spawn on bottom and watch for the bite. This method takes two guys to land fish, one to man the pole and one to scoop out the fish although you can do it yourself to.There are lots of other ways of doing i bet but this uses every thing i already have so its cheap. Hope this helps. Jimmy
  8. WELL WE HAD THE ANNUAL COLD STELL TOURNEY ON THE K-ZOO RIVER THIS MORNING FOR THE HOLLAND STEELHEADERS.THE FISHING WAS VERY TUFF THE WATER TEMPS WENT DOWN AND WAS ONLY 36 DEG IN THE RIVER, THE WATER WAS STAINED A LITTLE AND FLOWING NICE.MY FREIND DENNIS AND I CAOUGHT THREE STEELIES ALL I THE 6 TO 8 LB RANGE TO WIN THE TOURNEY AGAIN THIS YEAR:thumb:. ONE OTHER BOAT HAD HIS 3 FISH BUT ONE WAS A LITTLE SMALLER,ANOTHER BOAT HAD 2 STEELHEAD AND 1 WALLEYE,AND A FOURTH BOAT DID NOT COME TO THE WEIGH IN SO WE DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY GOT. WE GOT OUR FISH ON CRANK BAITS AS DID EVERY ONE ELSE,WE TRIED SPAWN BUT DIDNT GET ANYTHING ON THAT. WE HAD A GREAT TIME IT WAS A VERY NICE DAY ON THE WATER!:grin:SORRY FORGOT TO GET PICS.

  12. I looked at my boards and I seem to have two styles of offshore boards ,the older one has a back fin that goes up and the newer ones go down this and the fact that i may have to turn faster and not as sharp should help me out i think. Thanks for all the imput I am going to get another board and sell the odd one ,then i am going to tune my boards (the weights) and label them for different copper and lead lengths and see if this helps.
  13. Jim I ues that knot and have yet to have one come undone. jimmy
  14. Thanks guys for the imput I think im going to just stick with the inlines, and mess with the weights on the boards.Jim I was trolling 4.0 to 4.8 on the gps and had boards jump all 4 times out at that speed it is ussually not a problem when i troll slower,I just have to adjust some holders on my trees this winter to get more space between rods i think. jimmy
  15. I changed to Blacks release's this season and loved em!
  16. Ok everyone i am considering adding planer board mast to my rocket launcher but first have a couple of questions on how to run them as i never have. Can you run copper and lead off them and how?seems like if you slide every thing out after each fish you will tangle every thing up if you get a fish on the outside but deep lines? I have lots of problems with in lines jumping at higher trolling speeds so would a big planer board set up on my trees be better ? How wide of a spread can you get with this kind of set up? Any impute would be helpful as Im not sure I want to go this route yet. jimmy

  22. we went out around 3:30 and fished until 7:15 started in 100 fow ,hit the first two fish in 130 fow got one 8 lb coho and lost a steelhead at the back of the boat, then went out to 158 fow and had what was close to a triple got 2 steel head and lost another that came off while we were untangling a mess. what worked for us: glow fire dog jp slammer on 300 copper took the coho jj special jp slammer on 150 copper took one steelhead michigan sunset jp slammer on 150 copper took one steel head a halo blue dolphin jpslammer on rigger down 70 lost one steelhe3ad at the boat. and the last one was on a proto type glow spoon, lost one steelhead. so we ended up 3 for 5 thanks to Capt. Don from Tangled Mess Charters for the information today. we had boars jump 3 time again tonight I am getting very frustrated with this ,I lost a 250 copper again.Any suggestions would be appreciated I spread the rods pretty good but still had it happen ,oh well thats fishin i guess.
  23. maybe something from an expert on running multiple inline boards with copper, and lead?I know we had lots of jumped boards this year resulting in big tangles.
