  1. GJ KOTW, I would love to drag Priority1 across the border and give Wheatley a whirl.
  2. Fantastic. It's GR8 that you were able to get Marty out fishing.
  3. Nice setup Jimmy. Is the boat a SeaRay??
  4. Not bad Marv. I know what you mean about staying away from the pack. I'm kind of new to leadcore, and I'm certainly not going to run it in the dark near a pack.
  5. WTG Redeye. Glad you could fish with your dad.
  6. Congrats to the newlyweds and their families.
  7. I just added a 700 GPH aerator pump to use for wash down. It's mostly for washing fish slime off the deck. It could also be used to cool down the crew. I always wanted a wash down system to clean things up on the water. It should save me having to clean the boat when I get home. I also keep some Dawn Detergent and a brush with a handle onboard. SWAB THE DECK. I also just installed a new alternator. The old one was overcharging, and rather than replace just the regulator, I replace the whole thing. It was 21 yo. I replaced it cheaper than having the old one rebuilt. I think I'll Launch Mon and check things out. I may as well do a little Walleye fishing also.
  8. GJ Terry, You must be supplying the whole area with fish.
  9. Best offer yet. Thanks doughman. I'll be camping there. I'll bring some homemade "Dear Camp Beans".
  10. I am looking forward to the tournament, and meeting everyone. On the 6 line rule, are you counting a slider as a line? If sliders are allowed and NOT considered a line, maybe the rules should read 6 rods. Just a point of order.
  11. GJ Tim, Did you have the line wrapped a couple of times in the back release? I use the Offshore boards for Walleye, but have never used them for Salmon. You could always add a Snap to the back and run the line through it, to keep it from shaking off.
  12. Welcome to the site Mike. Thanks for the report. I hear you on the sharp hooks. My thumb nails get pretty rough checking hooks. A good way to go is to start the year with all sharp hooks. When you use a lure don't put it back in the box until the hooks are checked and sharpened if needed.
  13. Wow! 100 FOW. I use these 2 oz bouncers in 20-40 FOW. Yes let em out till the hit bottom. You may want to go to 3oz or more fishing that deep. What you run will depend where the fish are in the water column. Bouncers can be run half way up as well as in-line weights. Fishing that deep your riggers should come in handy. If you are targeting fish over 40 ft down, you shouldn't have any trouble taking them on riggers. If you do run riggers check them often. Walleye will hit and swim with the boat. Even big fish will not always release. One of the reasons for running boards for walleye was the boat spooked them to the sides, in shallow water. The boards also spread out your presentation. When there are only 2 of us onboard I'll sometimes run 2 rods off the back and 2 off the sides with out boards. If you are only going to run a few rods in deep water, you may want to try it without boards.
  14. WTG Josh. I always wanted to do some musky fishing.
  15. A definite NO to the #1 Dipsey off the boards. Most use the BigJon mini discs. If I was fishing with your boat I would take some rigger rods and splice about 300 ft of 10# mono to them. I run 2 oz bottom bouncers or in-line weights off the boards with crawler harnesses. You could also use snap weights. Bouncers can be effective right off the sides without being on boards. You could also run cranks off the boards. It would be best if you would go with someone, or have someone aboard that has fished for Walleye before. There are so many little things to fine tune a presentation. Speed should be about 1.7 or even less for crawlers, and about 2 to 2.5 for cranks. These speeds can be changed up. I try and run a zig-zag course. If on a turn you pick a fish up on the outside board, it could be an indication you are running too slow. If the fish come on the inside board on a turn, slow it down a bit. The speeds mentioned above are GPS SOG speed. Sonar paddle wheel speeds are not that dependable. You may want to try some smaller spoons off the riggers.
  16. Fantastic Mike. It sure is fun when there is constant action.
  17. WTG Luv2Fish. Those fish on homemade lures are extra special.
  18. That should help. TYVM Mike. I'm going to have to feel my way around Friday.
  19. GJ Mike. I can't wait to get back to Lake MI for some more Salmon Slammin.
