  1. That New Dirty Puppy is on the hunt. Fantastic.
  2. Dave, You'll get em next time.
  3. Tom, Good try. TY for the report.
  4. Not a typical year no matter where you are fishing the GLs. The quick warm up and wind patterns are the reason. Actually we have had three abnormal years in a row. 08 and 09 were cooler than normal and this year was warmer than normal.
  5. Ed, GJ sharing our sport with the kids. You are making good memories that will outlast you.
  6. Matt GJ on the Kings. I love that port.
  7. There are a few different brands of meat heads that cut herring go into. These are usually in combination with some flys or squid on the rig behind a 8 inch or larger flasher.
  8. Jess, GJ on the eyes.
  9. Scott, First a warm welcome to the GLF site. There are a few Yoopers posting Lake Superior reports. A spoon can be run behind a Dodger or Flasher but more the norm is a meat rig, fly, or squid. I'm from the AuGres Tawas area and fish the Saginaw Bay.
  10. A warm welcome Jake. Just holler if you need any help.
  11. Rick, GJ checking out the deeper water.
  12. GJ Capt. Ken. Thanks for the report.
  13. Find out what they want and give em lots of it. Keep a bend in the rod. No need to keep it pointed skyward. Fight the fish in the water if possible. Fish splashing on the surface are more likely to get off.
  14. These parts are not expensive. For the shutter, grommets, gasket, and shipping around $30. Even a mechanical minded caveman can do the job. If you are not mechanical leave it to a pro. A cracked manifold can cost ya plenty.
  15. I just done my 3.0L Riser. It's not tough. I had to replace my exhaust shutter and that is why I had to pull off the Riser bend. It may be a good idea to replace your shutter if the engine is older. It takes longer to clean the mating surfaces than to do the rest of the job.
  16. You are missing an important part of this equation. SPEED With 50 ft of line after the weight the tot will dive an additional 7- 10 ft. Your weight is only down probably 10 ft with 30 ft from it to the rod tip running between 2 and 2-1/2 MPH At those speeds 17-20 ft down. Putting the weight closer to the tot will get slightly more depth. What I'd do is snap that weight at the end of the line in 20 FOW and let out 30 FT of line troll in shallow till you bump bottom and observe your depth on the sonar. Now you know exactly what that 2 oz weight will do @ the speed you are trolling. The tot will only add 7-10 ft with 50 ft behind the weight, again speed being a HUGE factor.
  17. Tom, That Glow Ghost J is a favorite of mine. In fact any of the lighter colored glow Js will do a number on them. GJ on the salmon out of my favorite Lake Michigan Port.
  18. TJ, Nice pic and report.
  19. Sorry, These are gone. This thread is almost 3 years old.
