  1. I wish all you Great Lake Fishermen good luck and be safe this season. Unfortunatly my Great Lake fishing adventures are going to be through all of your reports. I have excepted a job in Massachusetts and will be leaving this weekend. Not what I wanted to do but the money is good and not much going on here in MI anyway. I hope to get home once or twice to hit the water but thats still up in the air. So bring on the reports and PLEASE, lots of pics..
  2. Thats what I said the first time I seen him. Nobody believed me that I seen a buck that big 40 yards from the house, I have proof now..lol
  3. I sure hope I can add this big 10 point with my nice 6 point I got this year.. Seen him twice early Nov while bow hunting but he just would'nt come close enough. I sure hope he repeats his mistakes now since I have something I can close the distance between us now.. This is at a small rye field I planted in my back yard.
  4. Thanks everyone. Getting this one mounted. Cant wait till he is hanging above the fireplace.. He was a big bodied deer. I asked at the processor if they would put him on the scale but were busy with beef at the time so hope they will get him weighed before butchering. I had 3 different buddy's estimate him at 170-180lbs.
  5. My biggest buck to date.. Shot on 10/13 in the evening. 15 yard shot. I have had my camera in this area for 2 months and have never seen this buck. In fact I have only seen 4 bucks in 2 months on the camera. And never had one of those bucks come back twice. So plans were to take a doe that night but seen a spike and a small 5 point so figured I would hold out since it looked like the bucks were moving. Glad I did..
  6. Very sweet rig Mike. Makes all the extra hours of work worth it thats for sure..
  7. Your not alone this weekend Mike. I was 6 for 14 yesterday in Manistee. In the tournament too. Lost alot of nice fish. Weighed in 5 fish with a total weight of 27.19lbs...
  8. WOW..That is awsome..What a hog. Good job..
  9. That is what I did with mine but yea I got ya..Its not a good feeling drilling a hole below the water line in a boat... I suppose if you found a really good waterproof adhesive you could just stick either the plate or the triducer to the hull. But I cant think of anything that I would trust. If possible, I would adhere the plate so you can screw the triducer to that. That way if you ever sell the boat and want to keep the fishawk you can remove it.
  10. I hear ya Robert. Seems like the wind has been blowing hard and often the last few weeks. I got out last tuesday and it was beautiful out but the fish would not cooperate..
  11. This is for the Manistee area... TONIGHT...NORTHEAST WIND UP TO 30 KNOTS WITH GUSTS TO AROUND 45 KNOTS. PERIODS OF RAIN OR SNOW. WAVES 8 TO 11 FEET. .SATURDAY...NORTH GALES TO 35 KNOTS WITH GUSTS TO AROUND 45 KNOTS. CHANCE OF SHOWERS OR SNOW. WAVES 10 TO 13 FEET No guts go glory!!!
  12. I am planning a family weekend in the Muskegon area and having a hard time finding a place that would work well for our group. There would be 8 adults and 4children from the 4-7 age. What I am looking for are 3-4 cabins or cottages on or near water. We also plan to go to Michigan Adventure so we would want to be reasonably close. We are shooting for the weekend of July 9th. Half the family are not that into the camping thing anymore, gettting older, so I would like to keep everyone close and not scattered all over the area..
  13. These plates are great...http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0080976020106a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntt=transducer+mounting+plates&Ntk=Product_liberal&sort=all&N=0&Nty=1&hasJS=true&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form1 Drill 2 holes and epoxy the plate to the boat and then you can add and remove things without putting holes in the boat..I love em. I reccommend the 4"x12" or 4"x18". They just look better to me, not so big and bulky..
  14. In my opinion it should be visible to the driver. Currents and temps can change quickly and the driver can compensate for the speed and keeping an eye on the temp he/she can relay that information to the crew and they can adjust accordingly..
  15. Its money well spent in my opinion, Senez.. This is by far the best Great Lakes forum site out there. I have been on most of all the other sites and while you can still get the same information on them, you cant beat the quality of people on this site. No arrogant people that think they came out of the womb as gods gift to salmon fishing, just experienced fishermen willing to help other fishermen..
  16. Great job GLF and crew.. With a little temp boost, things could really get cooking..
  17. Good Job Dirty Dog crew.. Sounds like the kings and bait are out there. Just need a temp boost..
  18. Nice job Jeff.. I got into a nice batch of kings in Manistee about 3-4 weeks ago and they just seem to have disappeared..Need the winds to calm down so the temps can come up. Did you mark any bait out deep??
  19. I can tell ya one thing not to use and that is any type of oil. The first time I used some air compressor oil that I had and it turned black when dirty and then it seems like it got everywhere. Took me forever to get rid of the oil. Been thinking about using cooking oil cause wd40 just don't last very long.
  20. You should be fine. I run 4 captain paks of my main battery and never have any issue. Of course my main battery is being charged while engine is running. Will this second battery be charged by the motor?
  21. Only rod's that I have used that I suggest stay away from are Travers Bay Slammers. Not sure if they are still in production but I got them about 7-8 years ago at Gander Mt. They were Identical to eagle claw rods but about $10 cheaper. 3 out 4 broke within a months use. As far as rigger rods and high line rods I like 8'6" Eagle Claws or Shakespere Ugly Sticks in Med/Light action. I use both and never had any problems with either. I have no experience with wire but I use medium action on my fireline dipsy's.
