  1. I and quite a few others are enjoying and recommending the Fish Hawk Grant, go for the gusto, it's worth it.
  2. Most of the guys I know buying of recent also have chosen the Grunden. There must be something good about them, cause no one has complained or returned them that I know of. I've got to get a pair myself someday. Hey Matt #2, that fish drunk when you caught it?...lol!
  3. At first I was magnifying the bird in the air, then I looked again, he's a big eagle on the road, cool, must have a 7' wingspread.
  4. Thanks for joining Jason, do let us know how the X-4 situation comes out in the end.
  5. Welcome Tracy, see how helpful these guys are, great advice as usual.
  6. Great choice to join here Capt. Reid, have fun.
  7. Us Michigan guys just use gloves and handwarmers in our pockets, much easier. Bigger boats also have hot water heaters.....lol. The cold temps. and cold water also make for cracked skin, and that hurts, use Norweigan hand lotion after the trips.
  8. Hi Jim, the (LACA), Ludington Area Charterboat Assoc. has been doing these net pens for over 20 years, and has much to offer in experience and info.. To start, try contacting Capt. Jim Fenner, ex-President at 800-captjim for a start. I know he can point you in the right direction. We have been very successful in all facets of this type of project. Good luck.
  9. Very cool video, that kid must have a lot of experience at that. I like!
  10. That's a nice Daisy Duke picture in the gallery, check my Hildy out too, also a GSP. Thanks.

  11. Hi Dave, regarding canvas, just so you know, there are many makes and materials, they are all a little different too. I would check with the mfr. of that, and see what their recommendations are first. Applying a dye, while sounding good, may make the canvas stiff, non-pliable in the future. It could even destroy the water repellent qualities, and we don't want that either. Depending on the size and make of boat, sometimes the boat mfr. has made improvements and can recommend a replacement now direct or from a dealer too. Just saying, not a time to rush since we have time before fishing starts anyhow. And unless you are in a heated garage, not to do in the cold before it's over maybe 60-65 degrees. Good luck.
  12. You guys are funny, is that Tony?
  13. Belated welcome William, the GLF guys here can help you with anything, just ask, and your wish is granted.
  14. You can't beat this forum and membership Jared, thanks for joining, enjoy.
  15. Welcome Tim, just sayin, what took ya so long? LOL.
  16. I'm not sure if I have the right picture of your problem, but I always use a rubber bumper over the top of my crimper for a stopper at the top. Hardware has them in black and white in several sizes, and they are inexpensive.
  17. I kinda doubt that any bilge pumps could keep up with huge fire hoses, but, I'm glad no one else was hurt, and hope for a fast recovery on this fellow. Closed-in areas without ventilation, on a boat with possible fumes in the air, is no place to light a torch. I've heard of soldering wire, but not torching it. Should have waited till launched, or call an electrician imho.
  18. Let me know how it is for knot tying, thanks.
  19. PM Lake in Ludington still has places with 12" of ice, and temps. are not helping to thaw it. But, I hope the fruit farmers won't get hurt this season either. Many nice days to come, it's early yet Race Banner, be patient.
  20. And just when we get bored of hearing fish stories from last season, Ed throws a new twist at us. Pretty cool.
