  1. Sherman, sorry to hear about your troubles. Things will get better.
  2. Personaly I look at it this way. The charter guys I know that are getting 20-30 fish per trip when I am getting 10-20 a trip are telling me it is getting on fish and getting your spread to look right underwater that is the big deal. I believe the better you get at the fundamentals of a good spread and getting on active fish have a HUGE part to your success. I am sure power pro has it's day but until I am good enough to see the difference in a day in and day out situation I will stick with wire for now. There is so much more for me to learn......
  3. Should have read the title alittle better. I took that trolling vavles were not an option and he was looking for another option. Kick butt boat!
  4. Chips are great but don't help the long term life of the engine with the decrease in oil presure. If you don't like bags make a hydraulic plate, thats what I did.
  5. Just clean fish on the water, nice why to add to the food chain. Legal on the WI by the way just have to be at least 1 mile off shore.
  6. Get more experiance. Like was said before, goto school and get a good job. I don't know 1 charter guy in my home port that doesn't have a "normal" job because being a charter captain doesn't make you rich. If you start running trips and for any numbers of reasons you don't fill the cooler you are going to hear knocks on you about your age. Clients, like all of us, are driven by the perception of a good time. I wish you the best and hope you turn your love into a great business.
  7. The wire doesn't ride up on the side of the roiier and ware on the side. Always make sure the rod is pointed towards the back. Torpedo diver makes an affordable one for rods for use with hardend guides.
  8. I just don't find any use for 32#, I run all 45# in different segments and find it easy to work with. Why run longer lengths if you don't have to, I find mysself in some tight areas and want to run copper but need it as short as possible. My 100,150,200,250,300'ers work well.
  9. Can I swap my Mag 10 extendable boom with my Mag5HS 2'er?
  10. True UV topcoat has a little bit of small blue flake, can't miss it. Be careful, just because it looks floresent under a UV light does not make it UV. My sister and brother in law are chemical engineers and use testing equipment for UV reflectiveness in the medical engineering field, interesting when you test other peoples lures to see what the data is. Some good, some not so good.
  11. You could use braid but if you got some extra 20-25lb just use that, it's cheaper then braid. I don't know what you got for reels but most 30 size reels hold 1000ft of 30lb wire with alittle mono backing.
  12. For copper and core I have the okuma rods,40$ and the large guides, the shimano's have the large guides as well. Sure make feeding line out easier.
  13. Thanks bud, got the last rod and gammy hooks for 1.50, buch of other stuff as well, cloths 75% off, thanks again. Chris
  14. 3/0 for 3 1/4", 4/0 for 3 3/4" to 4", 5/0 for mags. All gamakatsu siwash for me, and don't forget to put a slight offset bend in them.
  15. Didn't want to high jack the other thread but I am thinking of starting up a meat program. For informational purposes I want to know to what extent you use meat and what kind. Do you use whole, strips, brads stuffed with "X", herring, sardines, anchovies, tuna, herring oil, sadine oil, sushi fly's. Thanks, can't wait to see this info. Chris
  16. I see alot of spin doctors on 333 TV, just wondering.
  17. What is the hottest flasher on the Lake Michigan tournament trail?
  18. I love the smaller 7' rods for the riggers (M TDR), got about 10. 8' and 10' for the divers and Okumas 8'6" copper rods are standard on my ride. My favorite rods for wire are my 7' roller talora's, they handle my torpedo's/divers/# lbs down the shoot perfectly.
  19. Got 10 Clarions, about time someone made a 50+ inch per crank reel. Wish someone would make a 65+ inch one and I would buy 10 more! They work great.
  20. now that is a quote i can fall in love with!!!
  21. I was going to go lights but then a buddy of mine came on board and put some of that highly reflective D.O.T tape on the board.(the white stuff) I kid you not, if you look to the side with a hat light or get a small set of LED spreader lights and point them to the side they light up like a beacon. I taped all 7 sets and love them, try it you may like it.
  22. I think a big boat is in your future my friend, but I know some guys that just slay them in that 16-18 foot class. You know what they say, it's not the size of the boat but the fullness of your fly......
  23. Aaron those look great, I didn't ask when we went out, did you buy your own boat? If you are looking for some rubber skirting I will PM you the company that makes it. Chris
  24. While new gears on a CV-55 give you a bigger ratio you will not get the 53" per crank as a high speed Clarion, get the 553LS, makes copper a breeze.
